Possessed of an interesting title – why is it called “The Toybox” if it’s about a family taking a ride in an Rv which breaks down in the desert? – and a cast of a much higher calibre than the average indie horror movie – Denise Richards and Mischa Barton are two of the stars – I was looking forward to watching this.
Without being too critical, it’s never a good sign when you can predict how the first scene in a movie will play out. There’s a dirty, old-looking Rv parked on a street, and a kid on his bicycle. The Rv’s door swings open. My wife immediately chimes in with “that kid’s getting sucked into that Rv and the door will slam shut”. I guessed “blood splatter on the windows, as seen from the outside”. We were both right!
But, originality is sometimes overrated,...

Updated with NFL statement, 2:15 Pm: A day after word surfaced that former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been retained by Nike for the 30th anniversary round of the company’s fabled “Just do it” ads, the NFL is offering a surprising nod of support for Kaepernick.
“The National Football League believes in dialogue, understanding and unity. We embrace the role and responsibility of everyone involved with this game to promote meaningful, positive change in our communities,” said Jocelyn Moore, the NFL’s Executive Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs in a statement. “The social justice issues that Colin and other professional athletes have raised deserve our attention and action.”
That twist follows a trading session when stock in Nike took a significant hit, shedding $2.60 (or more than 3%) to close at $79.60 after Sunday’s revelation that the company has partnered with Kaepernick.

You can always assume a horror movie’s quality based on how many cardinal genre sins are broken before the credits roll. Tom Nagel’s ClownTown has no trouble racking up the offenses in this particular case, especially because a good eight minutes pass before any title flashes. In that time, a lonely babysitter ignores obvious warning signs, gets naked on camera for no added reason (only two minutes in) and dies a generic, horrid death – three strikes in record time. Sadly, it never gets much better from there, as a town is seemingly taken over by psychotic clowns who rule by Marshall law – because why the hell not? It’s a little The Devil’s Rejects, a bit Psycho and unfortunately way too much of Rob Zombie’s 31. Talk about bad timing…

Tagline: "They'll Rip Out Your Funny Bone." Clourophobics beware! A new horror film, ClownTown, is coming out soon. Already completed, Steel House Productions has released a full length trailer, for this chilling feature. The clip shows several friends, stranded in a remote town. Only psychopathic clowns reside here. The film, from director Tom Nagel and scriptwriter Jeff Miller, stars: Lauren Elise, Brian Nagel, Andrew Station, Katie Keene and Jeff Denton. The official trailer is available below. At first look, the plot for ClownTown is sparse. A one line synopsis reveals very little. The trailer also offers few explanations. Though, a voice-over narration states: "clowns are like that - like a pack of dogs" and "ghosts haunted this town for years." These ghosts are set to square off against four defenceless friends, in this mysterious feature. As well, the film's first poster is hosted here. The graphic shows many of the villains.
