Has there ever been a more bonkers superhero than Deadpool? Equal parts violent and zany, this lethal mercenary, also known as the "Merc with a Mouth," first appeared in the "New Mutants" comic series in December 1990, albeit as a villain. Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) went on to star in his own mini-series. He eventually gained notoriety for his dark humor, meta-commentary, and affinity for breaking the fourth wall. Over the years, Deadpool has teamed up with or battled alongside Marvel's hero gallery and has since become one of the brand's most popular characters. In fact, according to Gitnux Marketdata Report, he's the most liked character on Facebook. So take that, Iron Man!
The release of 2016's "Deadpool," starring Ryan Reynolds as Wilson, further cemented the character's popularity. Uniquely, this was the actor's second stint in the role, though the less said about his...

London-based doc specialist Journeyman Pictures has acquired world sales rights for “Can’t Feel Nothing,” the sophomore feature of U.S. filmmaker David Borenstein (“Dream Empire”), which had its world premiere at leading doc film festival Cph:dox in the F:act Award section dedicated to investigative journalism.
“Behind David’s entertaining approach to his subject lies an ambitious exploration of something that deeply affects every single one of us,” Emma Simpson, head of acquisitions and development at Journeyman, says.
Laced with dark humor and narrated by Borenstein, a self-confessed phone addict who produces tech films for networks around the world, the film takes us on a globe-trotting journey to meet some of those who are pulling the strings that leave the rest of us, as he describes it, “numb.”

Plot: When filmmaker Mason Maestro throws a private party after production wraps on his new slasher flick, someone dressed like the killer in the movie starts knocking off the partiers one-by-one.
Review: After working together on the stalker film Blind (read my review at This Link) and its sequel Pretty Boy (which we’re still anxiously waiting to see), director Marcel Walz, screenwriter Joe Knetter, and star Sarah French have teamed up once again to launch a production company called Neon Noir. Their first production is That’s a Wrap, a giallo slasher that takes both clear inspiration from the works of Italian filmmakers like Mario Bava and Dario Argento – especially due to the fact that Walz and cinematographer Marcus Friedlander have soaked nearly every shot in colorful lighting – and from the Scream franchise, in that it’s a meta film where the characters work in the horror business.

Each season on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” there’s a big song and dance group number that showcases the queens performance abilities. Dubbed the “rusical” — an amalgamation of RuPaul and musical — it’s the chance for each of the competitors to show off their acting, dancing and lip-syncing skills.
For the competition series’ milestone Season 15, the rusical was “Wigloose,” inspired by the 1984 Kevin Bacon classic “Footloose.” The number starred the top six queens: Anetra, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Salina EsTitties and Sasha Colby. “Wigloose” is set in the fictional small town of West Bumtuck, where a local teacher (Brooks) seeks to outlaw drag. The local youth protest the law by holding a secret drag ball. In the end, the teacher is reminded by her old friend (Anetra) and husband (Colby) about the power of drag, and the law is overturned.

Drag has been under attack in various parts of the United States, with laws aiming to restrict public performance popping up in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Kentucky, among many others. Some of these laws have been tied up in state court systems over their constitutionality, but they’ve regardless had a chilling effect on venues and events that were once drag friendly, either out of fear of legal consequences or the threat of violence. We spoke with several performers living and working in those embattled states to find out what...

In every grand finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” not one but two crowns are bestowed: one to the ultimate winner (chosen by host RuPaul Charles) and one to Miss Congeniality (chosen by her fellow queens). All week long, “Drag Race” viewers at Gold Derby have been predicting who they think will become Miss Congeniality for Season 15, and things are looking strong for Salina EsTitties and Malaysia Babydoll Foxx. Both of these eliminated queens made their mark during their time on MTV’s reality TV show and would be welcome additions to future “All-Stars” seasons.

I have to admit that last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race was filled with some questionable choices. In the mini challenge Loosey voted for herself as the person who would go home next (and I still haven’t decided if this is a clever piece of strategy or a display of some nervousness) and then in the maxi challenge, Loosey was placed in the bottom by the producers after doing significantly better than her fellow bottom queen Lux. Despite doing a lot better in the teacher makeover challenge, Loosey clearly lost the lip-sync which meant she was sadly told to sashay away. The structure of the competition means that the two worst performing queens have to battle it out in a lip-sync and however is the best performer in this stays in the completion which meant that despite doing a great job in the makeover Loosey is sent home.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on March 24 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, the queens sang and dance on stage in the showstopping new rusical “Wigloose!” While the judges were pleased with everyone’s performances, the two that fell to the bottom of the pack were Salina EsTitties and Loosey Laduca. A fourth trip to the Lip Sync for Your Life was the end of the road for Salina while Loosey survived to shantay another day.
This week, the final five give back to the people who shape our futures by giving influential teachers the drag makeover of their dreams. Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 13 titled “Teacher Makeovers” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, judge Ross Mathews, and music artist and “Celebrity Drag Race” alum Hayley Kiyoko.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is all about inside and running jokes that carry over the course of a season. Sometimes, they even carry from one season to the next. On season 15, Mistress Isabelle Brooks admitted to stealing a RuPaul book from the set, thinking that it was only a prop. However, she apologized when she discovered that it was a producer’s personal copy. In true RuPaul fashion, he always has a comeback for everything.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 drag queen Loosey Laduca fought hard for the lead role in the “Wigloose” Rusical. It parodied the 1984 film Footloose, which longtime viewers praised. The film’s lead star Kevin Bacon was among the audiences watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, but his words held a whole lot of weight for Loosey and the rest of the cast.

The majority of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 contained shorter episodes, going from 90 to 60 minutes, including commercials. However, that didn’t stop the drag reality television competition series from packing its runtime with both talent and drama. Sasha Colby’s run on RuPaul’s Drag Race was long overdue for many drag fans. The former Miss Continental has been known for her performances for years. On an episode of season 15 of Drag Race, she revealed that she might have had a role in how Beyoncé came to create her Sasha Fierce persona at the turn of the last decade.

Sasha Colby came to Drag Race with a two-decade career under her belt. The Native Hawaiian performer snatched the title of Miss Continental in 2012, preceding future Miss Continental winners and Drag Race contestants Brooke Lynn Hytes and Naysha Lopez.

Stand-up comedy is one of the toughest challenges on RuPaul's Drag Race. The judges put a lot of pressure on the queens to craft a funny stand-up routine. They want to hear all the jokes.
The latest comedy show on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 11 showed how certain queens could thrive (or stumble) under the set-up.
Either you've got the comedy skill, or the lack killed all your chances. Safe to say the consistently safe queen couldn't hide from this showcase.
"Two Queens, One Joke" was a roller coaster of jokes and cringeworthy silence. RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 still has plenty of comedy queens left in the competition, so the odds were high that we'd be in for a good time.
Between Mistress constantly roasting the cast and the queens bantering with each other, we knew they could make us laugh. But delivering for the stand-up show was another story.

By the end of episode 10 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on March 3, Salina EsTitties found herself lip synching for her life for the third time. This week she was pitted against Malaysia Babydoll Foxx in the ultimate Beyoncé-off to “Single Ladies.” Aside from the Lalaparuza in episode 9, this was Malaysia’s first time lip synching for the judges, but once again they favored Salina in the Lsfyl and Malaysia was sent packing.
We asked in a recent poll if Malaysia was the right queen to “sashay away” and a majority of fans think that the judges did in fact get it right. 42% of fans polled believe that Malaysia was the queen most deserving of elimination compared to the 34% that thought Salina would have been the right one to go. Exclusive: Hercules Film Fund and Rhea Films have closed a deal to finance and produce a feature-length version of Power Signal — the sci-fi short from Oscar Boyson that had its world premiere in Sundance’s Midnight Shorts section last Friday.
The short stars Babs Olusanmokun (Dune) as a NYC delivery worker who has a close encounter with an otherworldly life form after accepting a degenerate customer’s bizarre proposition. Boyson directed the pic, also starring Angela Sarafyan, Tennessee King and Will Brill, from his and Erin DeWitt’s script, also producing with Jordan Drake, Alex Coco, and production companies Object & Animal and Hayden 5.
Like the short, the feature adaptation is described as a NYC-set sci-fi Western in which e-biking delivery workers are the cowboys. Further plot details are under wraps.
Boyson will direct from his script written with DeWitt and Ricky Camilleri. The project reunites him with producers Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis...

At the end of episode 3 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on January 13, San Francisco-based Princess Poppy received the dreaded “sashay away” from RuPaul Charles. She went head-to-head against Amethyst in the Lip Sync for Your Life to a disco version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Diana Ross.
We asked in a recent poll if the judges made the right decision and more than half of fans were in agreement that Amethyst should have been given the chop instead of Poppy. The word "icon" gets thrown around a lot these days when talking about our pop culture faves, but absolutely no one on planet Earth would dare deny the iconic status of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
