If I'm being honest the initial impression made by Kwon Hyuk-Jae's Troubleshooter was not so good. A lot of things in the beginning moments of the trailer were overly familiar and the mash up of humor with action elements didn't seem to be going all that well. It was doing anything wrong, per se, but it all just felt kind of meh.
But then, somewhere around the half way mark, I perked up, Things started clicking. Maybe because they stopped trying to act and stopped trying to be funny and instead started focusing purely on crazy action sequences. Now that's more like it!
With its story revolving around a private eye swept up in a massive conspiracy this looks and feels very much like a Korean attempt at a typical Hollywood blockbuster and while I'm not blown away on the whole there are certainly some very fun moments in there.

I’ve been following director Kwon Hyuk-jae’s forthcoming action/thriller “Troubleshooter” since I posted the teaser trailer back in July. Although there’s certainly no shortage of Korean thrillers these days, there’s something about this particular endeavor that has caused it to wedged itself deep within the folds of my demented little brain. Not surprisingly, the appearance of the first legit, full-bodied trailer is cause for much jubilation on my side of the pond. The clip appears courtesy of Film Smash, which was kind enough to post this exciting, action-packed preview for the entire world to behold. As always, here’s the synopsis: Tae-sik is a private eye who would do anything for money. One day, he gets a call from a man which changes everything. Unexpectedly trapped in a vast conspiracy, all he has is 24 hours to solve the situation. “Troubleshooter” — or “Trapped”, if you prefer — will...

When it comes to action/thrillers, nobody delivers the goods quite like South Korea. The teaser for Kwon Hyuk-jae’s “Troubleshooter” (aka “Trapped”) provides enough high-octane thrills in 50 simple seconds than most Hollywood movies can provide in 90 minutes. Specifically, the film chronicles the adventures of an ass-kicking private detective who has 24 hours to unravel a nefarious conspiracy. Since I’m excited to share this clip you, I’ll cut the chit-chat extremely short and get directly to the goods. “Troubleshooter” stars Seol Kyeong-gu, Lee Jeong-jin, Oh Dal Soo, Lee Sung-min, and Lee Yeong-hoon. As of this writing, no release date has been set.
