Blonde has been “honored” with two Golden Raspberry Awards — aka the Razzies — which also bestowed an award upon themselves for the first time in the group’s history.
Andrew Dominik’s film, which led the Razzies with eight nominations, won worst picture of the year along with worst screenplay for Dominik. The Razzies called the film “misogynistic, salacious and fallacious” and said it “shamelessly exploits the memory of the late Marilyn Monroe.”
The Razzie Awards, which honor the worst of the year, are announced annually ahead of the Oscars ceremony, which takes place Sunday. Incidentally, Blonde star Ana de Armas is up for best actress in a leading role at the 2023 Academy Awards.
Razzie organizers also chastised themselves for nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong as worst actress of the year. After being “put through the cyberworld blender,” as they put it, they subsequently removed her from the ballot and announced...

Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde landed eight nominations from this year’s Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture.
Announcing the film’s Razzies haul, the organization described the biopic as a film that “explores the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe…by continuing to exploit her posthumously.” Dominik also picked up Worst Screenplay and Director nominations.
Rapper Machine Gun Kelly’s stoner comedy Good Mourning trails Blonde with seven nominations. Nominations for the 43rd Annual Razzie Awards are in, and they have singled out “Blonde,” Disney’s “Pinocchio,” Machine Gun Kelly’s “Good Mourning” and “Morbius” among 2022’s worst movies.

Ana de Armas’ “Blonde,” which the Razzies say explores “the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe…by continuing to exploit her posthumously,” led with a whopping eight nominations, including Worst Picture, Andrew Dominik as Worst Director and for Worst Screenplay, and Worse Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel, among others. Razzie Awards: ‘Blonde’ Leads Noms With Eight; Tom Hanks Lands Two Mentions for ‘Pinocchio,’ ‘Elvis’
The Golden Raspberry Awards — aka the Razzies — have bestowed Blonde with eight nominations, including worst picture, in their annual picks for the worst films and performances of the year.
In their announcement, Razzie organizers said the movie “‘explores’ the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe…by continuing to exploit her posthumously.” Blonde also landed noms for worst screenplay and worst director for Andrew Dominik, “whose work here says more about him than it does about his subject,” the Razzies said.
Also landing multiple noms are Tom Hanks and Pete Davidson, who are both up for worst actor and worst supporting actor. Hanks was cited for his portrayal of Gepetto in Disney’s Pinocchio and his “latex-laden, ludicrously accented portrayal of Col. Tom Parker in the otherwise critically acclaimed Elvis,” while Davidson was singled out for his voice role in Marmaduke and his cameo in Good Mourning.

If you thought the Razzie Awards learned a lesson last year about bullying, decency and humanity when they graciously rescinded an “award” they’d given to Bruce Willis due to his failing health, you’d be dead wrong. This year’s Golden Raspberry “honorees” include a 12-year-old girl (wait — how is that okay?) in Worst Actress, Ryan Kiera Armstrong (“Firestarter”). Also recognized is movie star Tom Hanks in Worst Actor (“Disney’s Pinocchio”) and Worst Supporting Actor (“Elvis”) — he of course is a two-time Oscar winner for “Philadelphia” (1993) and “Forrest Gump” (1994). Since 1993 when Steven Speilberg released his film “Jurassic Park,” fans have swarmed to the movie. It’s an action film, it’s a comedic film, it’s a science fiction film, but above all else, it’s a nearly perfect film. From the story to the tone and pacing to the actors and camera work, there are almost too many reasons to love it. This is probably why Hollywood went on to make five more ‘Jurassic’ films.

Cinema, since its earliest formation, has been the ultimate special effect. The illusion of the wildest fantasies or closest realities, being all around us. And in 1993, when Stephen Spielberg’s Jurassic Park walked with dinosaurs, the ultimate effect was achieved. Much like the late great Richard Attenborough’s well meaning but misguided John Hammond, Spielberg in adapting Michael Crichton’s novel, wanted to give us something that wasn’t an illusion. Something that was real. Something we could see, and almost touch. Even all these years on, in the dawn of advancing CGI, that film’s blend of practical and new age computer generated technology, remains spellbinding, but equally as importantly, so too do its characters and it’s, ever more meaningful, story.

Love is in the air at the multiplex.
Emily Carmichael, co-writer of Jurassic World Dominion, and Erik Singer, dialect coach on Elvis, are engaged. The pair, whose movies are currently charting in the top three at the U.S. box office, confirmed the news with The Hollywood Reporter and shared their exclusive (and playful) engagement portraits.
Carmichael and Singer met in Budapest on the set of Terminator: Dark Fate. Singer, who has also worked on Mulan, The Survivor and Cabinet of Curiosities, was serving as the dialect coach while Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising) was there visiting the set. He confirms that he fell for her immediately, and they started dating in November 2018.
“She was hilarious and razor-sharp,” says Singer, who worked closely with Elvis breakout Austin Butler, training him to master Elvis Presley’s voice and articulation for the demanding (and critically acclaimed) transformation.

Jurassic World Dominion ends the trilogy that started seven years ago, and my only wish is that it never started in the first place.
Four years after the previous instalment, Jurassic World Dominion shows us a world where dinosaurs live alongside humans and the challenges that it brings. It’s an interesting idea, however it’s handled in such an unoriginal way that the film’s run time already begins to feel like a drag and disconnects its audience from the very start. From then on, the plot is loosely strung together as the main characters bounce from scene to scene with no real idea of what they want the film to be. There are sections...

A key element of “Jurassic World Dominion” is Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm reunion with the original “Jurassic Park” crew, as the quartet share the screen for the first time since 1993.
But that plot point isn’t the only “Jurassic” milestone for 2022. Attention must also be paid to the 25th anniversary of the dinosaur franchise’s second film, 1997’s “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.”
Goldblum’s Malcolm took the lead in that movie, which debuted on May 23, 1997 and saw the sci-fi action move from the original park on Isla Nublar to Isla Sorna (otherwise known as Site B) where the resurrected dinosaurs roam freely.
After a young girl is attacked on the island, Jurassic Park founder John Hammond (the late Richard Attenborough) recruits a team, led by Malcolm, to study and document the animals in their natural habitat in hopes of encouraging the government to enact a policy of non-interference.

Charlize Theron is a superhero. She’s already proven this twice in the past six weeks, debuting her Marvel Cinematic Universe character Clea in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and making a more subversive super-cameo in the season 3 premiere of “The Boys.”
But her real superpower was on display Saturday night on the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, where she hosted a block party celebrating the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project’s 15th anniversary.
Theron was fresh off a flight from Rome where she’s in production on Netflix’s “The Old Guard 2,” making the 6,000-mile journey to celebrate the milestone in person. While most people would’ve needed an intravenous coffee drip, Theron was energized by the mission of the organization, which focuses on fighting the HIV epidemic in the actor’s native South Africa.

Saturday Update: Universal/Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World Dominion is storming to a projected 386M worldwide cume through Sunday. In its second offshore frame, it added 57 new markets, after releasing early in 15 last session. The international box office cume through Friday is 135M including the new hubs and the holdovers. Through Sunday, it’s estimated to land a full overseas weekend of 175M, lifting the running offshore total to 244M.
In the same suite of new international markets this session, and at today’s rates, 2015’s Jurassic World opened to 226M (187M excluding previews) while 2018’s Fallen Kingdom bowed to 227M (212M excluding previews).

[Editor’s note: The following post contains light spoilers for “Jurassic World: Dominion.”]
The “Jurassic World” franchise was still relatively new when filmmaker Colin Trevorrow — who went on to direct two of the films in the trilogy, in addition to co-writing all three of them — made a bold claim: he knew exactly where his series was going to end.
Back in September 2016, a year after the release of his blockbuster “Jurassic World” and a few months before filming was set to begin on J.A. Bayona’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” Trevorrow told the fansite Jurassic Outpost that he “knew the end; I knew where I wanted it to go” while making “Jurassic World.” Nearly six years later, Trevorrow and company finally conclude the trilogy with the release of his “Jurassic World: Dominion.” Is the end what he dreamed of? Mostly, but with some caveats.

“Jurassic World Dominion” is now playing in theaters, and those venturing out to see the blockbuster sequel may be wondering one crucial thing: is there a post-credits scene?
It’s a fair question. The last “Jurassic” film, 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” had a short post-credits scene at the end of the film that very much teed up what “Dominion” was going to be about. After the dinosaurs at the film’s central mansion were let loose, we saw a dino looking over a sprawling suburban neighborhood, teeing up the infestation to come.
So is there anything after the credits of “Jurassic World Dominion”? No, there is not. When the movie’s over, it’s over. So you very much can sit through the credits to see the many, many folks who put their hard work into making the film (and bask in Michael Giacchino’s score), but there’s no credits scene.

On Monday night, “Jurassic World Dominion” DeWanda Wise posed outside the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, taking in the emotions around unveiling her brand-new character, pilot Kayla Watts, to a theater full of anxious fans.
Asked what she’ll most remember about joining this nearly 30-year-old franchise, Wise told Variety, “Probably the fan love, especially tonight.”
Clad in a shimmering Valentino gown, Wise shared the black carpet moment with her mother, brother, husband (fellow actor Alano Miller) and some of her lifelong friends. “My family’s here. My friends from New York are here, it’s very special,” she noted. “These are my day one’s, my 20-pluses. My success is theirs.”
The raucous red carpet experience stands in stark contrast to the day, five months earlier, as Wise patiently waited at home for the first photo of her character to hit the internet.

Much like life, this post finds a way ... to discuss major spoilers for "Jurassic World Dominion," that is.
Well, you can't say director Colin Trevorrow and writer Emily Carmichael (with a "story by" credit from Derek Connolly) didn't do everything in their power to end the dino-themed trilogy on a high note with "Jurassic World Dominion." The original trio of Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Satler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) make their triumphant returns, the plot takes both new and old characters on a globetrotting adventure far bigger in scope than the previous two films, and the dinosaurs are badder than ever — as Malcolm bemoans...

“Jurassic World Dominion,” the third film in the rebooted “Jurassic” franchise of movies led by Chris Pratt, made 18 million at the box office Thursday in its initial preview showings that began at 4 p.m. from 4,150 screens. It opens on 4,676 screens this weekend.
“Dominion” is projected for a T-Rex size 125+ million opening weekend, though it will be interesting to see how the film performs as “Top Gun: Maverick” enters into its third week after staying strong since its Memorial Day opening.
And a start of 125 million would in fact be below the performance of its predecessor, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” which opened to 148 million in June 2018. For comparison though, “Dominion” beat out “Fallen Kingdom” in its first round of showings, which made only 15.3 million in its preview showings. For another comparison, two weeks earlier, “Top Gun: Maverick” made 19.2 million in its Thursday previews that also began early in the afternoon at 3 p.

Chicago – Intelligence goes extinct in this supremely dopey sixth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. Not even the reunion of original stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum can counteract the law of diminishing returns and a lack of focus behind the camera.
.. as the film turns Dino after Dino into a deadening drumbeat of dull destruction.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
The film begins with Dinosaurs now roaming the earth, perching on skyscrapers and running free on the wide open prairies. I can precisely pinpoint the moment when the film lurched over the line and let me in for just how dumb it could be, and that occurs early on when writer/director Colin Trevorrow tries to top the admittedly cool sight of lead actor Chris Pratt riding a motorcycle in a pack of Velociraptors. In the latest, Pratt is on horseback roping rogue Dinosaurs like he’s on a cattle drive.

More is depressingly less in Jurassic World Dominion, a legacy sequel that tosses in frequent winking nods to the 1993 Steven Spielberg thriller that started the dinosaur franchise and yet completely loses sight of the heart and humanity, the rapturous awe that made it so unforgettable. Whatever goodwill superfan director Colin Trevorrow earned with 2015’s enjoyable reboot, Jurassic World, he pulverizes it here with overplotted chaos, somehow managing to marginalize characters from both the new and original trilogies as well as the prehistoric creatures they go up against in one routine challenge after another. Evolution has passed this bloated monster by.
Universal’s sixth installment in a series that has long since left the Michael Crichton source material behind will no doubt make a fortune anyway; longtime Jurassic junkies certainly aren’t looking to reviews for guidance. But they deserve better; at least a...

The triceratops was my favorite dinosaur growing up. I’m not sure why exactly, but I think it had something to do with the horns and the hard plate. He was scrappy and could fight back against the predators. I wasn’t the first to think this either. Due to the same bias, Steven Spielberg switched out a stegosaurus in the Jurassic Park novel with a triceratops for a pivotal scene onscreen. When Sam Neill puts his head against a magnificent animatronic creation and admits “she was my favorite as a kid,” Spielberg wanted that creature to have three horns recreated by human hand.
Thirty years later, there are precious few flashes of that same, simple childhood wonder in this long in the tooth franchise. Early in Jurassic World Dominion, Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing rescues a baby triceratops from the cruelties of man when she stumbles upon one in a cage.

The generous read on “Jurassic World Dominion” is that it’s a metaphor unto itself; the ongoing moral of the film series is that mixing the wrong strains of DNA leads to disaster, and that lesson is writ large in the awkward and clumsy attempt to graft the stars of the original “Jurassic Park” onto the “Jurassic World” movies, a combo platter that only serves to make the latter-day protagonists even less interesting by comparison.
The other generous read, although it’s damning with faint praise, is to call this the best “Jurassic” movie since the original in 1993, but that doesn’t mean this one’s not, much like its predecessors, a hot mess. It’s just a hot mess with some effectively scary bits, a cool car chase and Laura Dern.
“Dominion” spends so much time jumping back and forth between the “Park” cast and the “World” plot that...

How ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ Co-Scribe Emily Carmichael Evolved Franchise’s DNA – Crew Call Podcast
Today on Crew Call we speak with Jurassic World Dominion co-scribe Emily Carmichael about how she broke into the Universal 5 billion-grossing series; one of the keys to wowing over filmmaker Colin Trevorrow was her screenplay redo of Disney’s 1980s sci-fi movie The Black Hole.
We also talk with Carmichael about the intense amount of drafts she did in bringing back the original Jurassic Park characters played by Laura Dern, Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum, as well as taking the universe of humans vs. beasts in a gene-splicing world to another level. The threequel has already grossed 55M in its offshore launch in 15 markets with recording debuts in Mexico and Korea, with an opening that will easily be 100M+ stateside.

The sprawling “Jurassic Park” film franchise never flinched at bringing back the beloved legacy characters that made Steven Spielberg’s 1993 smash hit such an unexpectedly human story. Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough notably returned for “The Lost World” in 1997, while Sam Neill was back on the case in 2001’s “Jurassic Park III” (with a quick appearance from Laura Dern). And while the “Jurassic World” series spent nearly two entire films — save for one key Goldblum cameo at the end of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” — focusing on new characters, the core group that started the dino-tastic adventure has always loomed large.
In Colin Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World: Dominion,” they finally take center stage thanks to a grand reunion that sees Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World” stars (including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard) thrown into a complex new story that requires the assistance of no less than Dr. Ian Malcolm (Goldblum), Dr.
