Say it isn't so! Atticus Finch, the hero of Harper Lee's classic 1960s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, has some disturbing character traits in the author's highly anticipated follow-up, Go Set a Watchman. The southern lawyer, who defended a black man in a rape trial in the original, quickly became a hero and role model to many who read the beloved novel. But in Go Set a Watchman, which is set several decades later, a 26-year-old Scout (now Jean Louise) returns home to Alabama and has to [...]...

Spoilers for Go Set a Watchman below. Near the end of the first chapter of Harper Lee's Go Set a Watchman, after the grown-up Jean Louise "Scout" Finch has made her way by train back to Maycomb County, comes a throwaway mention of the fate of a beloved literary character, one who, in this telling, doesn't even get a name:Just about that time, Jean Louise’s brother dropped dead in his tracks one day, and after the nightmare of that was over, Atticus, who had always thought of leaving his practice to his son, looked around for another young man Poor Jem! Dead before he reached adulthood, dead before he could fulfill his dream of following in Atticus's footsteps. Farewell, old friend. May you touch the sides of spooky houses all throughout eternity. Why did Lee give a treasured character, one half of American literature's best sibling relationship, such...

Warning: Spoilers ahead Harper Lee released the first chapter of her highly-anticipated new novel “Go Set a Watchman” on Friday. The novel marks the first new work by Lee since “To Kill a Mockingbird” was originally published in 1960. It picks up 20 years after the events of the first book, in which Jean Louise “Scout” Finch returns to Maycomb, Alabama from New York to visit her father Atticus. The chapter begins with Jean Louise travelling by train back to Maycomb County. She goes through a brief history of the area, describing it as “a gerrymander some seventy miles long and spreading thirty miles.

Puppet Master X: Axis Rising (2012)
Directed By: Charles Band
Written By: Charles Band & Shane Bitterling
Starring: Kip Canyon (Danny), Jean Louise O’Sullivan (Beth), Oto Benzina (Freuhoffer), Scott King (Moebius), Brad Potts (Seargent Stone), Kurt Sinclair (Major Collins), Stephanie Sanditz (Uschi), Paul Thomas Arnold (General Porter), Terumi Shimazu (Ozu)
Nothing says “Full Moon” like the “Puppet Master” franchise. I am always surprised they come out with a new film and we are already up to the tenth entry! I have had mixed feelings about this franchise and this movie is no different. While it is better than the ninth installment, it is lacking the magic the first films had. Charles Band returns to write and direct this entry.
The movie continues where the previous movie left off. Danny and Beth have discovered that the Nazis have Tunneler and want to extract the serum from him to create super soldiers.

The Dead Want Women
Stars: Eric Roberts, Jessica Morris, Ariana Madix, Jean Louise O’Sullivan, J. Scott, Robert Zachar | Written by Charles Band, Kent Roudebush | Directed by Charles Band
The Dead Want Women, don’t we all? Well obviously not like they do or it would be quite illegal and questionable in nature. Full Moon Entertainment give us yet another tale of horror and gore, with 88 Films giving the film a release in the United Kingdom that it may or may not deserve. The fact is though it’s quite a watchable film and when they are releasing so many classics there is space for film like this that have definite quality issues if it also means we also get the better quality ones too.
In the “roaring twenties” Rose Pettigrew is the star of the silent movies and at the top of her game; then the talkies take over.

I’m of the unpopular opinion that every motion picture with a budget under one million dollars should contain zombies, naked women, and Eric Roberts. And if you wish to have Eric Roberts portray a zombie, then you automatically get worldwide distribution. Charles Band seems to understand this formula, as his upcoming direct-to-video opus “The Dead Want Women” includes all of the aforementioned requirements. Hey, at least it doesn’t have puppets. I think. The official synopsis reads something like this: Beginning at a stylish mansion in the roaring 1920′s, a socialite, flappers, and the men who love them come to their ultimate demise. These ghosts continue to haunt the mansion throughout the decade. Now they’ve come back to haunt and chase after a new generation of beautiful girls. In addition to Roberts, B-movie fanatics also receive performances from Jessica Morris, Ariana Madix, and Jean Louise O’Sullivan. I...

'Puppet Master: The Legacy' and 'The Gingerdead Man' helmer Charles Band is back with another supernatural horror for Full Moon Pictures. 'The Dead Want Women' stars hottie Jessica Morris (below) who you may recall getting topless in Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott comedy 'Role Models' a few years back. Oh and not to mention another boobies out scenario in the not-so-funny Nick Weisee comedy 'Senior Skip Day' the same year. Joining Morris is Ariana Madix, Jean Louise O'Sullivan, J. Scott, Robert Zachar and Mr b-movie himself Eric Roberts ('The Dark Knight', 'Sharktopus'). 'The Dead Want Women', which Band also co-scripted with Kent Roudebush ('Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt'), is set for a DVD and VOD release from 15 May. Check out the trailer below....

The Myth of the American Sleepover Trailer has premiered. David Robert Mitchell‘s The Myth of the American Sleepover (2010) movie trailer stars Jade Ramsey, Amy Seimetz, Nikita Ramsey, Amanda Bauer, and Jean Louise O’Sullivan. The Myth of the American Sleepover plot synopsis: “The Myth Of The American Sleepover is a youthful and tender coming-of-age drama from first-time writer/director David Robert Mitchell. In the tradition of free-wheeling tributes to adolescence like Dazed & Confused, the film follows four young people (a cast of brilliant young newcomers in their feature film debuts) on the last night of summer – their final night of freedom before the new school year starts. The teenagers cross paths as they explore the suburban wonderland they inhabit in search of love and adventure – chasing first kisses, elusive crushes, popularity and parties – and discover the quiet moments that will later resonate as the best in their youth.”

First love, young love. Those days when it feels as if you're right on the brink of some flashpoint moment end up burned into your brain. Or the idea of those days is burned in, at least, and that's what ends up being part of the limitless energy that powers cinema. The Myth of the American Sleepover runs entirely on that energy as it follows a handful of kids on the cusp of adulthood as they try to spark a connection on the last weekend of summer. First-timer David Robert Mitchell directs a young cast (Jade Ramsey, Amy Seimetz, Nikita Ramsey, Amanda Bauer, Jean Louise O'Sullivan, Claire Sloma) in a story that looks a bit like Gus Van Sant remaking a John Hughes movie, or even like a Larry Clark movie that isn't wholly creepy. I don't know if it works, but the trailer has enough moments that click that...

One of the films I’ve only heard great things about coming out of SXSW and Cannes is David Robert Mitchell‘s indie romantic comedy The Myth of the American Sleepover. We have our first trailer and poster via Apple for the micro-budget film starring Jade Ramsey, Amy Seimetz, Nikita Ramsey, Amanda Bauer, Jean Louise O’Sullivan, and Claire Sloma, and you can see it below.
