As The Adventures of Maid Marian begins it is the year 1199 in Merry Olde England. Robin is off fighting with King Richard. Marian is hiding out in a nunnery, occasionally sneaking out to poach a deer for starving villagers.
Then the word arrives, the king has died and his troops, including Robin, will be returning. Overjoyed, Marian rushes off to meet him. But she’s not the only one who wants to welcome him back. William De Wendenal the former Sheriff of Nottingham wants to revisit ye olde tymes with him as well.
As many times and ways as the tale of Robin Hood has been told I honestly can only think of one version that’s told it from Marian’s point of view, the BBC comedy Maid Marian and Her Merry Men.

After Maid Marian is kidnapped by the Sheriff of Nottingham, Robin Hood must get a band of men together in order to save her. Many are reluctant, given that they are massively outnumbered by the Sheriff’s forces – but those that do join Robin will stop at nothing to defeat the bloodthirsty tyrant. Together, they hatch an audacious plan to penetrate the depths of the Sheriff’s castle and reclaim Robin’s true love.
The first thing that springs to mind, literally, when Robin Hood: The Rebellion starts is do we really need that much on-screen exposition for a film about Robin Hood? After all, we seem to get a new story of this English folklore legend...

During a wild night of debauchery, a gang of vengeful women plot to massacre a monastery full of corrupt monks who sold their loved ones as slaves. Their plan comes undone however when a gang of marauding Vikings arrives with an army of vicious, tree-like demons on their tail… Facing insurmountable odds, the disparate group of enemies must set aside their differences and forge a tense alliance if they are to survive the night.
Viking Siege, it’s a title that conjures up images of epic battles, unbridled heroism and probably the odd monster to fight here and there. Turns out in this case two out of three...
