Killing Joke is an English rock band formed in October 1978 in Notting Hill, London, England. The band achieved mainstream success in 1985 with both the album Night Time and the single "Love Like Blood". Killing Joke have influenced many later bands and artists, such as Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and Soundgarden.
Dave Grohl, former drummer for Nirvana and founder, lead vocalist of Foo Fighters, has played all drums on their eponymous album Killing Joke (2003). As a long-term fan of Killing Joke, Dave Grohl declined to be paid for his work on the album.
Killing Joke received the "Innovator Award" at the 2010 Classic Rock Roll of Honour. This award was presented to the band by Jimmy Page, the legendary guitarist of Led Zeppelin.
