In a further sign of consolidation among independent distributors, Rialto Distribution has closed its Sydney office while continuing to book films into Australian cinemas via its Auckland headquarters.
However the end of the company’s presence in Oz after more than 20 years does not signal any reduction in acquisitions for multiple-platform release.
“We have gained much-needed economies of scale with Kevin Gordon, our Australia/New Zealand sales and distribution manager, selling in directly,” CEO Kelly Rogers tells If.
“This is going very well and Australian exhibitors are receptive to our strong line-up. We expect to release approximately 30 titles in 2020, mainly digital titles and select strong theatrical films.”

Momentum Pictures have released the UK trailer and poster for their new movie Hit and Run which hits cinemas 12th October. It’s written and directed by Dax Shepard (David Palmer co-directs) who also stars alongside Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Kristin Chenoweth, Dax Shepard, David Koechner, Michael Rosenbaum, Beau Bridges, Tom Arnold and Jason Bateman.
From the producer of Wedding Crashers – written and directed by and starring comic talent Dax Shepard (NBC’s “Parenthood”) Hit And Run is the story of Charlie Bronson (Shepard), a nice guy with a questionable past who risks everything when he busts out of the witness protection program to deliver his fiancé (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles to seize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Their road trip grows awkwardly complicated, when they are chased by the feds (led by Tom Arnold) … and increasingly dangerous, when Charlie’s former pals, a band of gangsters (led by Bradley Cooper), enter the fray.

In the fast-car comedy Hit and Run, actor Dax Shepard plays an ex-getaway driver named Charles Bronson who risks breaking Witness Protection by driving his girlfriend (played by Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles for an important interview. Things get crazy when they are chased by a bitter criminal associate (played by Bradley Cooper, in dreadlocks) looking for the money from their last failed robbery.
Gaining notoriety from his role as Ashton Kutcher’s sidekick on MTV’s show “Punk’d,” Shepard can currently be seen on the show “Parenthood.” Off-screen, he is engaged/basically married to actress Kristen Bell (they are not formally married out for the cause for equal marriage in California). Hit and Run marks his second time co-directing a feature film, his first being a mockumentary titled Brother’s Justice, also co-directed with collaborator David Palmer.

A chase-oriented B-movie that borrows from True Romance for both good and ill, Dax Shepard and David Palmer's Hit and Run benefits from a surprisingly sweet vibe and easygoing chemistry between Shepard and co-star Kristen Bell, both in fine form. Its high-octane but low-stakes action might be just the thing for moviegoers weary of summer's operatic superheroes. Shepard plays Charlie Bronson, an L.A. bank robber who, after his partners killed a security guard, testified against them and was hidden in tiny Milton, Calif. Bronson's a sensitive stoolie, though, and showers new girlfriend Annie (Bell)

So the last time I sat down with Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, it was for "When in Rome." I can guarantee you that their new film "Hit and Run" is much, much better! Shepard wrote and co-directed the film (David Palmer was the other director), and his true-life fiancée, Kristen Bell, stars as his love interest. "Hit and Run" is a funny romantic car chase comedy, but above all, I enjoyed the characters.
In this interview, we talked about:
*** Why make "Hit and Run?"
*** Executive producer Jim Casey and Producer Kim Waltrip are from my hometown of Palm Springs, so we talked about their involvement in the film
*** My two favorite scenes in the film -- the close your eyes scene, and the first car chase scene
*** What do they want the moviegoers to take away from the film?...

Open Road is moving its comedy Hit And Run from Friday, August 24 to Wednesday, August 22. The distributor made the move after testing the film and wanting to squeeze out more summer business. The film was directed by Dax Shepard and David Palmer and stars Shepard, Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Tom Arnold and Kristin Chenoweth. Shepard plays a man who risks all to bust out of witness protection to transport his fiance to L.A. for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He has Feds and gangsters on his tail. “We’ve been getting fantastic reactions at screenings around the country all summer, from Bonnaroo to Comic-Con,” said Open Road marketing president Jason Cassidy. “We’re confident that an extra two days in the marketplace will result in positive word of mouth and a nice boost for the Hit And Run opening.”...

A new Nsfw red-band trailer for the Dax Shepard action-comedy Hit And Run has hit the net and it's chock full of naked old people and talk of prison rape by various ethnicities, so probably not the best thing to play at top volume in your office, unless your co-workers are Really cool with that shit. Put on your headset and enjoy: Shepard co-directed this with David Palmer and also penned the script, folding in his girlfriend Kristen Bell and a dreadlocked Bradley...

After playing small roles in a variety of comedies like “Baby Mama” and “Idiocracy,” Dax Shepard is set to lead his most high-profile project to date, the R-rated action comedy “Hit And Run.” While the first trailer looked like any other generic action comedy churned out by the studios in the past few decades, the new red band trailer shows a greater emphasis on the raunchy gross-out humor that’s been ruling the box office of late.
The film, written and co-directed by Shepard and David Palmer, follows Charlie Bronson, a getaway driver who jeopardizes his Witness Protection Plan identity in order to get his girlfriend to Los Angeles, and is chased by the feds and his former gang, led by an awesomely dreadlocked Bradley Cooper. Shepard leads an eclectic cast that includes Kristen Bell, Tom Arnold, Michael Rosenbaum and David Koechner. If nothing else, it seems as though Shepard...

A host of trailers have arrived in the last 24 hours, and it being the start of Cannes and one of the busier days of the year, we've done a little round-up of them for you below. First up, Bradley Cooper is sporting some sweet dreadlocks in the new trailer of the Dax Shepard-written action comedy, “Hit And Run,” which is co-directed by Shepard and David Palmer. The actor, currently part of the ensemble in NBC’s “Parenthood,” is no stranger to being behind the camera: he was previously behind 2010’s “Brother’s Justice,” again with Palmer as a co-director.

Summer movies tend to fall into two categories: tent pole franchise blockbusters and wishful thinking rom-coms. Every year there is that surprise sleeper hit that audiences fall in love with and if the trailer is any indication of the possibility in store, then year’s winner could be Hit and Run. Directed by David Palmer, Run stars Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville), Beau Bridges, Joy Bryant (Parenthood), and Tom Arnold.

I got a press release about this film, Stripped: Greg Friedler's Naked Las Vegas, that was being released as a DVD and as part of Showtime's rotating schedule. I figured, "What a weird thing to do to yourself." Here is a film shot by a doc filmmaker about a photographer as he photographs people willing to be photographed naked for a book. So when visual artist Greg Friedler decided to mine the making of his latest book as material for a documentary, what happened in Las Vegas didn't just stay in Vegas. The feature-length documentary chronicling this photog creating his latest book in his Naked series premiered on Showtime in March. The shootist got a chance to have others step into his world when he enjoined director David Palmer to fashion this film. A New York native, Palmer has worked in Hollywood...
