The world of television keeps changing, and fans of several other canceled shows can start biting their nails anew as Hulu picks up The Mindy Project for a fourth season to air exclusively on the streaming network.
One of several shows with huge, and hugely loyal, fanbases to get cut this year, The Mindy Project is not only a very different style of show, Mindy Kaling is a different style of comic. The result is that while perhaps not for everyone, the show quickly gained a solid support base of superfans.
Not only has Hulu picked up the show, but a 26-episode order is a pretty serious commitment for a streaming service home, and one that keeps the ball of change rolling.
Check out all the info below, and stay tuned for news on dates.

In January 2015, YouTube prankster Roman Atwood turned his house into a ball pit for a branded video he created alongisde Nissan. Four months later, FX wizard Freddie Wong and his team at Rocket Jump teamed up with Atwood to put their spin on his practical joke. The result is a ridiculous video that begins as a playful prank before taking a turn into absurd, ridiculous territory.
Without spoiling anything, let’s just say that Rocket Jump fans who saw the studio’s take on 90s Capri Sun commercials will have a good idea of what to expect from this latest short film. At 16 minutes, “World’s Biggest Ballpit Prank!” is one of the longest sketches ever released on the Rocket Jump channel, and if you think the entire runtime will be spent frolicking around in an assortment of colorful balls, you are sorely mistaken:

Freddie Wong has released a new insanely funny action-packed short film called London Brawling. The short was inspired by Kingsman: The Secret Service, which opens up this week in theaters. I've heard nothing but great things about this movie, and it can't wait to see it for myself! You can read our review for it here.
If your familiar with Wong's YouTube videos, then you have an idea of what you are about to get yourself into. This might be one of the most high energy and action-packed shorts that he has made. The fight choreography is freakin' spectacular, and there's also a lot of great humor thrown into the mix. I have no doubt that you're going to get a kick out of this, so enjoy!

Are you bummed out about this year's overly-somber crop of Super Bowl commercials? If so, let Rocket Jump take you on a trip down memory lane. The studio co-founded by Freddie Wong has released a video called "Every 90's Commercial Ever," and it offers exactly what it says on the tin--but with a twist.
The video purports to advertise a Capri Sun-like juice drink. "Liquid Slam's ad campaign for their "Big Game" line of snacks and sugary beverages was pulled almost immediately," reads the video description. Despite that ominous warning, young adults who grew up watching Nickelodeon will initially recognize several elements ripped from their respective childhoods, including digitally-animated liquid people, a flat-topped celebrity spokesman, and Vcr lines on the screen.
Less familiar, however, is the David Cronenberg-esque horror that emerges midway through the video. This video ends up far away from the sort of 90s commercial nostalgic viewers will remember,...

Snapchat just unveiled its Discover platform on January 27, 2015. It’s an outpost on the ephemeral messaging application that was once the butt of jokes about lewd digital pictures and is now worth billions of dollars and the butt of less jokes about lewd digital pictures where select publications and entertainment companies can showcase branded content in a way that’s intuitive and makes sense for the platform’s users who view more than 500 million Snapchat Stories (videos that show a collection of photo messages and disappear after a day) per day.
But Discover isn’t the only method by which a brand can gain traction on Snapchat. And Discover’s launch partners - including CNN, Comedy Central, Espn, Food Network, Vice, Yahoo, People, National Geographic, Daily Mail, and Warner Music Group - aren’t the only major brands creating content they hope will appeal to the site’s massive teen and millennial demographic.

During this year's Super Bowl, YouTube is looking to be more than just the place people go to watch the commercials. The top video sharing site will have its own halftime show, during which creators like Harley Morenstein and Freddie Wong will act as counterprogramming to Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz.
Morenstein, the ringleader of the Epic Meal Time channel, will host the program, which YouTube is producing alongside Collective Digital Studio. Other creators slated to appear include Freddie Wong, Toby Turner, and Rhett and Link. According to Bloomberg, the program includes performances, stunts, and a few fake Super Bowl ads, including one from Wong that combines sugary juice drinks with his signature effects-laden production.
The show will go live on the AdBlitz channel, which, as in previous years, will house all the Super Bowl ads when they are uploaded to YouTube. Viewers are invited to rate each spot, and after the game,...

Guillermo del Toro, in partnership with Legendary, has announced that they will be taking pitches for horror movies from YouTube creators. The requirements to enter are super steep: you need to have a YouTube channel with over 10k subscribers and be a YouTube Partner. This will likely exclude 99% of people who would want to enter. But the quality of submissions should be very high, which is likely what Legendary is looking for. Two elite YouTube filmmakers who I think could dominate his contest are Ryan Connolly of Film Riot and Freddie Wong of Rocket Jump.
Details via Legendary:
YouTube creators will have the opportunity to create original videos on terrifying cinematic sets inspired by Guillermo del Toro at YouTube Spaces in Los Angeles, London,Tokyo and New York, as part of a special global programming event on YouTube. From September 22 – October 28, 2014, YouTube creators will write, shoot and edit their scariest videos at the YouTube Spaces.

With only a handful of exceptions, many of the panels at San Diego Comic-Con this year were a little underwhelming. On the bright side, the outdoor festivities and cosplay were on point as usual. The good folks at Sneaky Zebra were there to capture all the costumed craziness and gender-bending greatness. Look for cameos from panel moderator extraordinaire Chris Hardwick, David Yost and Walter Jones (the original Blue and Black Power Rangers), director Freddie Wong, actor Sam Witwer, and more.
In celebration of recently hitting 100 videos and over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, Sneaky Zebra is also giving away a couple Sdcc exclusive Firefly action figures. To enter to win, tweet @The_SneakyZebra ideas for who you like to see Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin cosplay.

The winners of the 2014 Webby Awards were announced last month, but the actual Webby ceremony didn't take place until May 19th. The day after the event, the Webby Awards' official YouTube channel is home to a number of highlights, acceptance speeches, and red carpet interviews. The first video worth watching on the Webby channel is the animated opening to the show, which references top Internet trends of the past year. Adam finds Eve on Tinder, Ylvis flies through the sky, Zach Galifianakis shares a snack with the President, and, for some reason, the Star Wars Kid shows up. Patton Oswalt, who emceed the event, appeared in a video of his own, which was released through Funny Or Die. The actor and event hyped up his hosting gig by meeting some of his haters face to face. The Webby Awards are also known for their five-word acceptance speeches, and while Jimmy Fallon...

DreamWorks Animation will launch a YouTube family channel called DreamworksTV that will kick off this summer YouTube’s head of content and business operations Robert Kyncl told advertisers today at the company’s NewFront presentation in NYC. It was part of a campaign by the Google-owned company to promote itself as a place that’s safe for advertisers — with tons of data and, now, audience guarantees. The problem with YouTube as an ad medium is that it’s too vast, and has too much inventory. Advertisers fear that their messages will be lost, and don’t want to pay up. But the service hopes to address that with a new sales initiative called Google Preferred, which it launched with support from ad agency Digitas. The program promotes the 5% most popular channels specializing in food, music, and entertainment. YouTube says it partnered with comScore and Nielsen to provide data in addition to Google’s real-time analytics.

Freddie Wong is back with another brilliantly funny action short called "No Man Left Behind." The tagline for the short reads, "The greatest gunmen get themselves in a bind…" One of the things that I like most about the short is that it was inspired by the the 2002 film Equilibrium. It also features a great one-liner that I won't spoil for you here, but you'll know it when you hear it! I'm looking forward to the day when Wong finally makes his first feature film. I'm surprised he hasn't done one yet. I'm sure there's a reason. It's ok though, because he keeps pumping out awesome shorts to entertain us.

Collective Digital Studio recently scored a major overseas investment, and it has a pair of new partners to boot. The popular multi-channel network has teamed up with VitalyzdTv and Roman Atwood, two of the biggest pranksters on YouTube. VitalyzdTv comes to Collective DS from Maker Studios, while Atwood was previously partnered with Defy Media. “We’re really excited to be in business with Roman and Vitaly," said Dan Weinstein, President/Founding Partner of Collective DS. "They are at the top of their game in a genre that is rapidly growing and we’re excited about all of the opportunity in front of us to build a meaningful business together.” The two pranksters have immediately slotted in as two of the most popular creators within the Collective DS network. Collective Digital Studio (Cds) has landed a big investment. The ProSiebenSat.1 Group, a German media company, has acquired a 20% stake in the leading multi-channel network. Through the deal, ProSiebenSat.1 will get its hands on a company that, according to the press release, scores "a billion video views per month with 600 channels and more than 100 million subscribers." YouTube did a lot of nice things for its creators in 2013. It organized themed weeks to spotlight talented creators, provided production space and more at the snazzy YouTube Space La, and offered up plenty of royalty-free music tracks. Much of these positives were lost, however, thanks to a number of very significant controversies. Between a new layout, new comments, and the new ContentID policy, it's safe to say animosity between YouTube and its creative community has never been stronger. As YouTube continues to alienate many of its users, creators are trying harder than ever to generate alternate revenue streams. Official merchandise is far from a new concept, but 2013 was the year when YouTubers attempted to sell anything and everything. ShayCarl sold socks. Jenna Marbles offered plushy versions of her dogs. Philip Defranco turned his personal merch table into a YouTube channel of its own. Freddie Wong sold tacos while Epic Meal Time hawked burgers.

Before 2013, the most funded film or video project on Kickstarter was a film adaptation of The Goon, a zombie graphic novel that raised over $440,000. By the end of the year, ten other projects have surpassed that figure, with several crowdfunded budgets stretching into the millions and raising the question of who Kickstarter is for, one of the year's most contentious topics. The biggest lightning rod for crowdfunding controversy was Zach Braff, who emerged as a punching bag among independent creators after he came off as stubborn and self-absorbed in his Wish I Was Here pitch video. Many claimed that Braff didn't need Kickstarter the way the average indie creator did, but the heart of the matter is that Braff's detractors are worried about ceding control over what is currently their best chance at making money. It is now incredibly hard to turn a significant profit on YouTube, in large part...

For the second year in a row, What's Trending? will bring together the online video's biggest creators to give back to the community. YouTube Space La will house Tube-a-Thon, a charity event raising money for Covenant House, on December 12th. Last year's Tube-a-Thon featured a plethora of YouTube's performers, who put on their best shows during a two hour charity drive. From Hannah Hart and Grace Helbig to Pentatonix to the Shaytards, many of online video's brightest stars were out in full force. This year, things will be slightly different. Virgin has stepped aside as the event's sponsor, with the Ford Fiesta Movement picking up the slack and continuing to build its already-expansive presence on YouTube. And while YouTube all-stars like Chester See, Freddie Wong, Toby Turner, and Rooster Teeth will make up the bulk of the performers, Vine will also be well represented, with Brittany Furlan, Paige Kennedy, and...

As we've previously noted, Comedy Central is trying really hard to get Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele's huge YouTube fanbase to tune into their half-hour sketch comedy TV show. After blitzing viewers with promos before and after each video, Key and Peele is now taking a different approach that it hopes will fix the Internet's eyeballs squarely on Comedy Central. The two comedians teamed up with Freddie Wong for a special video, and in return, Wong will appear in Key and Peele's Halloween episode. The video sets up a classic 'Mexican Standoff', with Key, Peele, and Wong unveiling increasing bizarre twists as they keep guns trained on one another. More than six months after it aired its last episode, MyMusic has resurfaced. The Fine Bros have released a trailer for the musical sitcom's second season, which will return old favorites while also enlisting the talents of several new cast members. Benny and Rafi Fine announced the second season back in May after a successful initial run that included 34 episodes. Altogether, the MyMusic channel has amassed nearly 400,000 subscribers and close to 30 million views before even factoring in the added engagement provided by the show's many, many transmedia elements. So what's in store for season two? In general, the trailer suggest that MyMusic's general tone will be the same, with broad caricatures serving as parodies of common music genres. Adam Busch's Indie and Grace Helbig's Idol will continue in their leading roles, and there seems to be a much bigger role for Jack Douglass' much-abused Intern 2 this time around.

Hey, Peter Jackson, Freddie Wong Is Bringing High-Frame Rate Online - and Viewers Are Flocking to It
When Peter Jackson opted to shoot and release "The Hobbit" at 48 frames per second, he predicted the higher frame rate would become the new standard for all of Hollywood's biggest films. Instead, it sparked a major dispute. Less than a year after the film's release, the jury is still out, but that didn't deter Freddie Wong, the most effects-savvy filmmaker on YouTube, from shooting the action scenes of the second season of his hit show "Video Game School" at 48 frames per second. Wong, his partners and his managers/producers at the Collective...

Some games work well with a first person perspective. Others, not so much. Ever wonder how well the Sega Genesis classic, Sonic the Hedgehog would fare? Care to take a guess?
Well, now we do, thanks to Filipe B. Costa, who has created a video, based upon a play through of the first Green Hill Zone, but seen from the eyes of Sonic himself.
As you can see, it's fairly disorienting, to put it mildly:
For years, Sega has tried to make a 3D Sonic game and while some have been okay, none have truly clicked like Mario's move to three dimensions. And the above somewhat proves why this is the case.
Granted, the above is not necessarily a fair example since its a first person point of view. But compare and contrast it with the following by Freddie Wong, which is the same idea, just with Super Mario Bros:

Aside from a Freddie Wong-filled Google Streetview tour, the average viewer has had few chances to look inside YouTube's spiffy $25 million production venue. With YouTube's second summer 'lab', Geek Lab, in full swing, Kerri Doherty is offering viewers a look see. The Geeking Out leading lady has released a video where she tours the facility as part of her participation in Geek Lab. Doherty shows us some things we already knew about the space: It has a ton of green screens and a helicopter. At the same time, there are some fun discoveries. Who knew YouTube had old-school arcade games? More importantly, why is it so quiet in there? I thought YouTubers were known for acting out. Doherty also hints at a top-secret construction project that may be related to Geek Lab. If I had to guess, I'd say they're building a replica Death Star. Doherty is one of...

See TheWrap's Complete Coverage of the 2013 TheGrill@ Locations Show Are traditional studios doomed to extinction if they don't adapt to the realities of the new-media era? Dozens of YouTube stars will make their way to the Anaheim Convention Center between August 1-3 for the fourth annual rendition of Vidcon, the largest convention dedicated to online video. Alongside those YouTubers will be thousands of their fans; for the first time, Vidcon's attendance is expected to exceed 10,000 people. Vidcon's attendees will include both industry professionals and fans. August 1st will belong to the former group, while the latter one will descend upon Anaheim the next day for a series of performances, meet-and-greets, panels, and parties. "Even when VidCon was just 1,000 people in a hotel, it was our goal for the conference to reflect the growth and culture of the online video industry," said Hank Green, creator and cofounder of VidCon, "VidCon's exponential growth over the last four years is indicative of online video's impact on the entertainment industry and on our everyday lives." Many YouTubers have already confirmed...

Several of YouTube's most prominent Asian-American stars are getting their game on. ISAtv, a channel owned by Wong Fu Productions and Far East Movement (of 'Like a G6' fame) has launched a variety program titled Isa! that emulates crazy Japanese game shows. The show features an impressive roster of talent. Wong Fu's Philip Wang, The Guild's Amy Okuda, and KevJumba host, while contestants include David Choi, Freddie Wong, and Brandon Laatsch, who identifies himself as the show's "only Caucasian contestant." In the first quarter of Isa!, each contestant reveals two truths and one lie about himself or herself, with plenty of colorful graphics and funny graphics keeping up the Japanese feel. The second quarter features a game of "Pass It On", where the contestants must act out a given phrase charades-style. Suffice to say, it does not go so well. Parts three and four will be released shortly.

"After far too many warnings, Superman decides to make the ultimate example out of a serial killer."
This is the latest short film from Freddie Wong called Balls of Steel, and it's magnificently epic! I hope we see Superman do this in Man of Steel. I've never seen Superman do this to anyone before, so it was an amusing treat. Enjoy!

Freddie Wong and Ryan Higa boast some of the biggest audiences on YouTube, but neither of them are partners in the online video giant's new program for paid-subscription channels. They are not alone. Almost none of YouTube's most popular stars made the list of initial partners. Nor did most of the biggest multi-channel networks, such as Machinima, Maker Studios and Fullscreen -- all of which reach tens of millions of people a month. YouTube did not to invite all of these digital players, but at least one of them chose not to...

A handful of YouTube's most popular nerds are coming together for a rumble...in the living room. Smosh Games and Node Studios have joined forces for Video Game Olympics, a multi-game gauntlet filled with camaraderie, competition, and, most assuredly, a big time viewcount. Video Game Olympics will be split into two parts. Featured gamers will include the team from Smosh Games, including Ian Hecox, Anthony Padilla, and the ClevverGames crew, as well as some of the contributors to Node Games, such as Freddie Wong and Brandon Laatsch of Freddiew and Sam Gorski and Niko Pueringer of Corridor Digital. The recently released trailer hints some of the games that will be included, such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Halo 3, and Mario Kart. The full event will roll out in two parts, with the first one debuting on May 10. This mainly seems like an excuse for a bunch of gamers to get...

Here's another magnificent short film from Freddie Wong. It's called Metal Gear Sunrising, and it's a fantastically hilarious mashup of Metal Gear Solid and the movie American Psycho. The description of the video says, "Raiden has an episode of Ptsd triggered whenever he uses a blender."
Wong has made a lot of excellent films over the years, but this one is definitely my favorite. The ending is incredible. You're going to love this one, so check it out below and let us know what you think!

Watch out, Freddie Wong: You've got company in the 'parodying American Psycho' department. Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis and the News, whose music appears in one of American Psycho's most famous scenes, has turned the tables on the postmodern film by starring in a Funny or Die video that remakes the sequence. Lewis stars in the Christian Bale role, with 'Weird Al' Yankovic taking the place of Jared Leto. Just as Bale creepily and scientifically breaks down Lewis' music before chopping Leto to bits, Lewis gives a cold, exhaustive analysis of Bale's acting before savagely murdering Yankovic for "parodying one of my songs." (Yankovic's 'I Want A New Duck' is based off of Lewis' 'I Want A New Drug'.) It's a particularly brilliant video thanks to all its amazing small details. The drug Lewis takes in the scene (echoing a similar action by Bale's Patrick Bateman) is labeled "new drug,...

A new feature on Google Street View affords users a look into the new home of aspiring YouTube creators. A collection of strung-together images allows curious online video fans to see inside the relatively new YouTube Space La and serves as a dedicated tour guide for those who wish to live vicariously through the Space's users. Alternatively, if you just think Google Street View is the coolest thing ever, this is also the update for you (but you didn't need me to tell you that). You can view the walkthrough here. A quick look around reveals exactly what you'd expect: airy conference rooms, cramped production studios, and plenty of nerdy-looking YouTube types. Of course, there is the occasional surprise. As you can see in the picture above, a wild Freddie Wong appears. It's fitting, as Wong seems to be one of the YouTubers who best utilizes the space, using it...

What do you get when you combine a polarizing video game character with a hyperviolent film based off a classic work of postmodernism? The answer to that headache of a question is Metal Gear Sunrise, the newest freddiew video, where channel co-creator Brandon Laatsch has mashed up the upcoming Metal Gear Rising video game with American Psycho. The feature mocks the morning routine scene from the 2000 Christian Bale, which was already a mockery in itself. Even if you're not into meta-commentary, you can still enjoy freddiew's entry into the 'use special effects to make Fruit Ninja real' subgenre. For those of you who are not fans of Freddie Wong you can revel in the part of this video where he gets diced into a million fine pieces. The video is supported by Konami, making it yet another companion piece to an upcoming video game, the 453,967th such entry we've seen...

Here's a great new R/C race car chase sequence that was created by Youtuber FinalCutKing, and inspired by Freddie Wong's R/C car action short. The chase sequence was made "entirely out of cardboard, hot glue, and spray paint." I used to play with R/C cars when I was a kid, but watching this video makes me want to go out and buy a couple cars to play around with. I've got a couple of kids, so I can easily justify it. Enjoy the video!

As they sit at the top of YouTube's subscriber leaderboard, Smosh's Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla are trending outward, dominating digital media beyond online video. The comedy duo have launched Smosh Super Head Esploder X, a comically violent mobile game that debuted recently to grand success. The app was one of the top ten most downloaded apps worldwide the weekend after its release. Thus far, it has been downloaded thousands of times. As with Freddie Wong's recent Kickstarter success, Smosh's App Store hit is a reminder of how nice life is when you have millions of people following your every move. To go along with the new release, Smosh has created a video decrying people who decry violent video games. We get to see some nice gameplay footage, including the ability to put anyone's face into the game for some explosion-based stress therapy

Special effects wiz Freddie Wong and amateur pyrotechnician Brandon Laatsch (a.k.a. the YouTube channel known as Freddiew) have the kind of day jobs most geeks would slice off a digit for: they get to regularly do things like work with mondo-Hollywood director Jon Favreau, appear on Jimmy Kimmel, and shoot with stunt – wait for it – cats! Not too shabby for a couple of guys who didn’t come from Spielberg stock. But the collaborators were not always the picture of Internet stardom: So, what can we learn from this geek-tastic clip (aside from, “Don’t bring handguns to guys poker night”)? Shoot with multiple cameras. Unless you’re making a webcam video blog, try to get your hands on two cameras to capture the action from different angles. Multiple perspectives makes it interesting and gives your editor more to work with (this will help keep the editor from...
