- For the film close calls had managed to design, build and dress 2 of the largest film sets ever constructed for a feature film In the state of Arkansas within the span of just 3 weeks with a crew of only 3 people along with himself. He and his crew did this in an un-air-conditioned airplane hanger in the peak of Arkansas summer that also had no running water, and no bathroom facilities. They did this while having to work between 18 and 22 hours a day because of the tight time-line of production. And if that wasn't enough director/writer/producer didn't still didn't see any reason to pay half of the art department any wages and had to be repeatedly convinced by production designer Jeff Fuell and production manager Amanda Donoven, to do so.
- During the filming of "Close Calls" writer/director/producer Richard Stringham was so new to the filming proceeds and narrow sighted in his vision that he saw no issue with forcing the art department that consisted of only 4 people during the first 3 months of production that during the third month all members of the art department were forced to work 100 to 120 hour weeks just to get the sets built in time for filming to keep production on schedule.
