Johannesburg, March 11 (Ians) South Africa defeated West Indies by 284 runs in the second and final Test to finish their World Test Championship cycle with an emphatic 2-0 series win, here on Saturday.
The Proteas have now won 22 out of 32 Tests against the Men in Maroon. With this 2-0 series win, South Africa are placed third in the Wtc standings.
The hosts began the day with a lead of 356 runs over West Indies. A flurry of quick wickets meant that they were bowled out at 321, having added merely 34 runs to the overnight total. Jason Holder (3-48) and Kyle Mayers (3-46) were the pick of West Indies bowlers.
However, an imposing target of 391 proved to be more than enough as West Indies’ batting unit collapsed like a pack of cards in the second innings. Six West Indies batters fell to single-digit scores.

Johannesburg, March 7 (Ians) South Africa on Tuesday made four changes to their playing XI for the second Test match of the home series against West Indies, beginning here on Wednesday.
Spinners Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer were named in the playing XI for the second Test. Senuran Muthusamy, who played as the only spinner in the first Test, bowled eight wicketless overs in the Test match and Marco Jansen has been replaced by the spin duo.
Anrich Nortje also missed out on the bowling group that played in Centurion after he was asked to rest as a precautionary measure following a groin injury.
Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder also come into the XI with Keegan Petersen, who made 14 and 7 in the first Test, missing out.
Heinrich Klaasen, who kept wickets in the first Test, retained his place and could likely continue as the wicketkeeper with Rickelton playing as a pure batter.

Sydney, Jan 8 (Ians) South Africa batters finally showed some fight at the Sydney Cricket Ground to force a tame draw against Australia on the last day of the third and final Test of the series on Sunday.
Though Australia’s imposing bowling attack failed to eke out a win from a rain-affected match, victories in Brisbane and Melbourne meant the Pat Cummins-led side were able to get a 2-0 series triumph and put themselves in pole position for a spot in the final of the World Test Championship (Wtc).
Resuming from 149/6 on day five, Marco Jansen and Simon Harmer held fort for the first hour until Travis Head’s part-time bowling took the former out. Harmer then joined forces with Keshav Maharaj for an essential 85-run partnership.
With the likely outcome of the game moving towards a draw, Josh Hazlewood stepped in to take out both Harmer and Maharaj...
