After immigrating to New Zealand in the early 1960s from the UK with his wife, Claire, Chas Biggin took a position as a film cameraman with the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation in Christchurch.
During the 1970s he moved North to Auckland to fill the role of Supervising Film Cameraman - a position he held until his retirement from Television New Zealand in 1995. Over the years he built a strong reputation as an energetic, enthusiastic and highly respected cameraman, focusing mainly on news and current affairs programmes along with documentaries and sports.
Chas Biggin maintained his involvement with film and video production throughout his retirement, becoming an active member of Auckland Movie Makers Inc. and lending his vast experience and expertise to worthwhile video projects around the community.
Chas was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and died on 23 February 2015, aged 84 years.
