Marco Federici is an award-winning director and producer known for the acclaimed feature-documentary "RICO: The Richard Demarco Story" narrated by and featuring actor Brian Cox, with artist Marina Abramovic, Andrew Marr and Sir Nicolas Serota among the contributors. Marco won "Best Director" across all genres at the Royal Television Awards Scotland 2023.
Marco also directed and produced "The Logans: Band of Sisters" for BBC Scotland, and the channel's first-ever IGTV series "Band of Sisters." As a cinematographer, he shot the behind-the-scenes feature for Irvine Welsh's "CRIME" (ITV/Britbox, Series 1) and produced promotional content for global music acts such as Skrillex, Pendulum, and Calvin Harris and brand names such as Thomas Cook, Cream and Shein. He directed and produced the educational film series "The Restoration Reels" for the Glasgow School of Art and Historic Environment Scotland. Further, as a Newspaper Society Award Winner, he has a wealth of experience in journalism and has delivered over 400 factual entertainment programmes, short films, news packages and outside broadcasts for Scottish Television (STV) and BBC Scotland.
Marco studied film at Screen Academy Scotland (Edinburgh Napier), and theatre and music at LAMDA and the Moscow Arts Theatre. His doctorate on the history of 20th-century avant-garde cinema is published by the British Library.
