While Suicide Squad didn’t receive the most glowing reviews from critics and fans, the movie still did manage to get an Oscar nominee for best makeup and hairstyling. While the producers probably wished for a couple hundred more million dollars at the box office, they’ll take what they can get here. However, there’s another element that did have moviegoers and Halloween costumer wearers excited: the wardrobes of the cast. It seems that 90% of women in the United States went as Harley Quinn during Halloween didn’t it? Now, newly released concept art photos from Andrew Hunt reveal a different side

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad got a lot of people talking for a lot of different reasons, one of which was the costumes. It’s no secret that many fans took issue with what some of the characters were wearing, and the Joker in particular was the subject of much debate. Whether you loved what they did with the iconic Batman villain or hated it, there’s no denying that it was an interesting and bold direction to head in.
Now, thanks to concept artist Andrew Hunt, we’ve got a new look at how Mr. J may have appeared had they gone with an earlier design. Also included in the gallery above are photos of Harley Quinn and Deadshot, though they don’t look terribly different than they did in the film.

Suicide Squad was recently nominated for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, but it was the movie's costumes which really caused a stir last year. Now, Andrew Hunt (via Batman-News) has revealed some of his artwork and we see some familiar and not so familiar designs. The Joker's tattoos were clearly going to get more screentime at one point as the Clown Prince of Crime is wearing just a tie here. However, even more interesting are the shots of Harley Quinn with a (nude) angel and devil on her shoulders. That's reminiscent of imagery from her wackier adventures in the DC Universe and something which may have been contemplated for live-action at one point. It would have made for an interesting visual anyway, and could very well be used down the line in Gotham City Sirens.
