CBS’ Fire Country this Friday introduced us to Mickey Fox, a sergeant with the Edgewater County sheriff’s department.
Played by Morena Baccarin (Gotham, Homeland), Mickey made her grand entrance at the top of the episode via bit of a helicopter chase, between her/her pilot and a drug runner. The suspect lobbed his duffel bag of cash out the ‘copter door, veritably raining bills down on the Three Rock inmates below. The ill-gotten cash was promptly rounded up, though, with (almost) all of it accounted for.

Something tells us we’re going to love Leone family even more after the next Fire Country. Morena Baccarin guest stars as Sheriff Mickey Fox, a character who could go on to star in a spinoff, and per the logline, she has a surprising connection to the Leones. She’s Sharon’s (Diane Farr) sister, and as you can see in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the April 12 episode, having these two in a room together makes for a lot of awkwardness. Mickey’s surprised when Sharon shows up at the sheriff’s station. “You called Vince but you got me,” Sharon says. “I brought the money that the inmates collected.” Mickey introduces her sister to Lieutenant Andy Kubiak (Alberto Frezza), who asks, “Is it true your dad was really a drug dealer?” Sharon and Mickey then have to explain. Mickey’s father isn’t Sharon’s father.

Fire Country has found immense success on Friday nights for CBS.
The firefighting drama stars Max Thieriot from Seal Team (Clay Spenser) and Bates Motel (Dylan Massett). He plays Bode Donovan (Leone).
The network has had lots of success with its NCIS Universe and the trio of FBI shows, so CBS wants to see if a Fire Country spin-off will work.
An upcoming episode of Fire Country is called Alert the Sheriff, and it is a planned backdoor pilot.
If CBS is happy with fan response and how the new characters work within the world of Fire Country, that episode will springboard into a new show called Sheriff Country.
This is called a backdoor pilot, where the characters from a planned show appear first on the primary show. Main characters for NCIS: Los Angeles appeared in a two-episode arc of NCIS, while Chicago P.D. characters first appeared on Chicago Fire for NBC.

The sirens you hear on social media are the sounds of diehard Station 19 fans sounding the alarm over the cancellation of the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff.
The loud signal boosting ahead of what will be the seventh and final season of the firefighter drama comes after ABC on Dec. 8 announced that Station 19 will conclude with 10 episodes this year — the show’s shortest order since it debuted — like Grey’s — as a midseason replacement show when it launched in spring 2018.
With Station 19 and Grey’s serving as the only remaining shows on ABC produced by hitmaker Shonda Rhimes — who is now based exclusively at Netflix — why would the network ax one of its Thursday staples? The answer can be found in the math.

Exclusive: The upcoming seventh season will be the last for ABC’s Station 19. The decision, early in production on the season, would allow producers to craft a proper ending for the first responder drama, a spinoff from the network’s flagship Grey’s Anatomy.
Before it signs off, Station 19 will hit the 100th episode mark in Season 7, which was impacted by the double Hollywood strikes. The series has aired 95 episodes to date; its seventh season will consist of 10 episodes.
Boosted by frequent Grey’s Anatomy crossovers, over the last few seasons, Station 19 established itself as ABC’s No.2 drama series behind Grey’s. Over its run, the series also has been lauded for tackling important — and sometimes difficult — topics and recently received a Sentinel Award from Hollywood, Health & Society for its depiction of systemic racism in Season 6.

Station 19 is set to hit its 100th episode in the 2023-24 season after ABC renewed the first-responders drama series for a seventh season.
The network also has confirmed that Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige will serve as showrunners and exec producers after Deadline revealed that Krista Vernoff was stepping down from Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy, with the pair likely to step up.
Over the past few years, the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff has been getting renewals alongside its mothership series. However, Grey’s was renewed for its 20th season last month, and Deadline understood that the holdup on Station 19 was the size of the order, which ABC has not revealed. Previous seasons have generally been 16-18 episodes.
Helping this renewal was the fact that the main cast have contracts that cover next season and beyond.

“The Flight Attendant,” Kaley Cuoco’s HBO Max dramedy-thriller, premiered to rave reviews on Thanksgiving — and the buzz for it built as episodes dropped through December. “It’s definitely been my baby,” Cuoco said during a recent interview with Variety for the magazine’s Feb. 24 cover. “I don’t mean to be cheesy, but this has definitely been the highlight of my entire career.”

Shondaland's Grey's Anatomy has been one of ABC's best rated scripted drama since before the earth cooled. Last year, the hit factory introduced the Station 19 TV show, a new spin-off, set at a Seattle firehouse, where all the firefighters are EMTs. While the first season performed well enough for a second season renewal, it didn't set the Nielsen ratings world on fire. Can this show build up an audience comparable to the parent series? She will replace Station 19 creator Stacy McKee who served as Ep/showrunner on the first two seasons before exiting last month.

ABC is continuing its Thursday walks through Shondaland.
The Alphabet has renewed “Grey’s Anatomy” for record 16th and 17th seasons, “How to Get Away With Murder” for a sixth season, and “Station 19” for a third outing.
The network has also announced that “Grey’s” showrunner and Ep Krista Vernoff will be taking over showrunning duties for the spinoff “Station 19” as well.
“Everyone at Shondaland is thrilled that our fans’ commitment to Tgit continues,” said Shonda Rhimes and producing partner Betsy Beers in a joint statement. “We are so proud of Krista and Pete and the work they do. Making the choice to have Krista oversee ‘Station 19’ was easy — the creativity she brings to the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe continues a tradition of storytelling we hold dear.”

Hey, "Station 19" fans. Unfortunately, we have some very bad news for you guys in this report. If you were hoping to catch the new episode 15 tonight, you are going to have to rethink that plan. In fact, anyone who was hoping to catch a new episode of any show on the ABC primetime line up tonight, will have to find something else to watch because none of the regularly scheduled ABC shows will be airing tonight, April 25, 2019. Instead, the next, new Station 19 episode 15 is scheduled to air next Thursday night, May 2, 2019. So, be sure to mark down that very important date on your TV show calendars. So, what is ABC airing instead of Station 19 tonight? Well, according to the TV Guide listings, they are airing a full three and a half whopping hours of Live coverage for the first round of the 2019 NFL (National Football League) draft.

Exclusive: We’ll soon be meeting a member of Dean’s (Okieriete Onaodowan) family in ABC’s firefighter drama series Station 19.
Birgundi Baker is set for a recurring role as Yemi, Dean’s (Onaodowan) sister. Quick-witted & really funny, she suffers absolutely no fools. She’s the kind of person that can level you with one glance. And when it comes to her brother, she understands him better than pretty much anyone else on the planet… which is both refreshing – and infuriating for him. Baker’s character will introduced in Thursday’s (March 28) episode.
The series, which hails from the executive producers of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, follows a group of heroic Seattle firefighters as they put their lives and hearts on the line. ABC has given a full-season order to sophomore firefighter drama Station 19. The number of additional episodes is not being revealed though I hear it’s 9, which would bring the Shondaland series’ second season to 22 episodes.
Station 19 got off to a solid Season 2 start behind Grey’s Anatomy, with its premiere on par with its Season 1 debut last midseason. The drama’ second episode, part of a Grey’s Anatomy crossover, popped to post series highs. On average, through its first two episodes, the ABC sophomore drama is drawing 7.9 million viewers with a 1.8 in adults 18-49. Dermot Mulroney is the latest addition to Station 19, the red-hot spin-off of Grey's Anatomy.
The popular actor has landed a recurring role on the firefighter drama's second season, which is slated to debut Thursday, October 4.
Mulroney will appear in a multi-episode arc as Ryan Tanner's (Alberto Frezza) father.
Ryan's father makes his big return to Seattle after a long time away, and everyone is surprised by his out of the blue return.
He is described as "sharp-witted, very perceptive and wickedly smart," and is apparently so charismatic that he resolve any problems that may arise for himself.

Station 19 is adding a Code Black favorite to its ranks for Season 2!
The Grey's Anatomy spinoff has cast Boris Kodjoe as a recurring player, and his first appearance is slated to air this fall on ABC.
As is always the case with Shondaland casting news, very few details have been revealed about his role.
What we do know is that he will be playing a veteran firefighter with a past that's, well, mysterious. You know, the way most backstories are on soapy dramas.
The Station 19 cast already includes Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Miguel Sandoval, Grey Damon, Jay Hayden, Alberto Frezza, Danielle Savre, Okieriete Onaodowan and Barrett Doss.

Station 19 Season 1 launched in March as the second spinoff of Grey's Anatomy. It was a decent performer for ABC, with the premiere season pulling in an average of 5.3 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in the demo.
