Astronauts Dr. Kira Foster (Ariana DeBose) and Christian Campbell (10 Cloverfield Lane’s John Gallagher Jr.) barely settle into their new posts aboard the I.S.S. before war breaks out on Earth. The shocking display of bombs peppering the stratosphere comes with covert orders to take control of the International Space Station by any means necessary, instantly sowing the seeds of mistrust and paranoia in a claustrophobic thriller that favors suspense over complexity or depth.
Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Blackfish), working from a script by Nick Shafir, helms the thriller with a lean efficiency that puts the claustrophobic paranoia at the forefront. Through audience proxy Dr. Foster, I.S.S. quickly introduces the already established crew accustomed to cohabitating in their zero gravity quarters that includes fellow American Gordon Barrett and Russians Weronika Vetrov (Masha Mashkova), Nicholai Pulov (Costa Ronin), and Alexei Pulov. There are enough gripping and disturbing stories partially told in FX’s Children of the Underground to keep the five-part documentary series watchable, with a unifying argument made sufficiently to be persuasive.
At the same time, it’s a documentary about a moment of moral and legal chaos that confuses narrative messiness with narrative ambiguity. Children of the Underground is marred by inconsistent sourcing, a lack of overall focus and the fact that its overarching thesis, however convincing it may be, is forgotten entirely through most of the series’ journey.
Directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Blackfish) and Ted Gesing, Children of the Underground is ostensibly the story of Faye Yager, who parlayed her experiences with a legal system unprepared to deal with family accusations of sexual abuse into a vigilante network designed to protect mothers and children from predatory fathers too often protected by the courts.

By extending the Academy Awards season eligibility through late February, it means the first few months of 2021 will look quite different than years past as many distributors bow Oscar hopefuls. Like most people, I thought Tiger King was hugely entertaining. The core feud between Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin was excellent TV, with lots of twists and a great cast of supporting characters. However, there have been some very valid criticisms of the show from some of the participants, most notably the aforementioned Baskin.
While the documentary never quite comes out and says she killed her ex-husband Don Lewis, they hint at it very hard. In addition, they draw some pretty broad parallels between Baskin and Exotic, making Baskin look hypocritical for campaigning against big cat zoos while effectively running one herself.
Soon after the show hit big, Baskin posted a lengthy rebuttal to Tiger King on the Big Cat Rescue website. She explained that the series was pitched to her as “the big cat version of Blackfish” and that it’d expose the cruelty to animals caused by people like Joe Exotic.

Joseph Maldonado-Passage aka Joe Exotic has noticed the fame he’s gotten since the release of the Netflix docuseries “Tiger King.”
“You know it would be nice if I could actually see me being famous out there,” Maldonado-Passage said during an interview from prison conducted by Netflix on March 22. He’s currently serving a 22-year sentence for his role in a murder-for-fire plot against big cat animal rights activist Carole Baskin.
Maldonado-Passage added that he’s done with Baskin, who was portrayed as his main rival throughout the Netflix series, which has become one of the most popular on the streaming service.

Trevor Noah kicked off the March 30 episode of “The Daily Show” by addressing “the only story everyone’s talking about right now,” which is obviously the Netflix docuseries sensation “Tiger King.” The late night host said he watched all seven episodes of the show over the weekend and came to a chilling conclusion: “Joe Exotic is not only one of the weirdest people you will ever meet in your life, he could also be president of the United States.” Joe Exotic is the over-the-top owner of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park who is currently in prison for hiring a hitman to kill his rival, Carole Baskin. In Noah’s eyes, Joe Exotic is just as “presidential” as Donald Trump.
“He’s self-absorbed, he’s disorganized, he’s obsessed with conspiracy theories,” Noah said comparing Joe Exotic and Trump. “But maybe the most presidential thing about Joe Exotic is that...

Netflix's documentary exposé Tiger King pulls back the curtain on the exotic animal trade right here in the Us, but one of the people depicted in the documentary is hitting back at what she claims is an unfair portrayal of her. Carole Baskin, who owns the Big Cat Rescue in Citrus Park, Florida, is one of the key figures in the documentary, as the rival of central figure Joe Exotic. Exotic is currently serving a 22-year sentence for attempting to hire a hitman to murder Baskin, but she's furious about the way the documentary depicted her business and, more importantly, a major mystery in her own past.

Warning: spoilers for Game of Thrones ahead.
On a show like Game of Thrones, it was inevitable that we'd see another death in the series finale. But what fans may not have expected was the return of some familiar faces we haven't seen in a while - like Edmure Tully. In case you missed him, he's present during the discussion of a new ruler with other Lords and Ladies of Westeros and almost makes a big speech, but Sansa, displaying both her position as a new ruler and an embarrassed niece, tells him to sit down. And if you still don't really remember who he is, we don't blame you. Where the heck has he been?!
It's been a really long time since he popped up, so if you need a refresher, Edmure is probably most recognizable as Catelyn Stark's brother. He's the head of House Tully and the Lord of Riverrun,...

‘Game of Thrones’ Confusion: Lots of Google Users Have No Idea How Jon Snow and Daenerys Are Related
“Game of Thrones” is a confusing show, we’ll admit that. So confusing that even we sometimes have to use Google to fact-check the many, many plot points and character details from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ HBO fantasy series. But after looking at the search engine’s data regarding the show, well, we have some questions about your questions.
According to stats provided to TheWrap by Google, among the most-Googled questions related to “Game of Thrones” in the U.S. between March 28 and April 4 was, “How are Jon Snow and Daenerys related?”
Ok, so this proves that 592 days after the Season 7 finale, some viewers are still confused about what was revealed in the final moments of the episode: that Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen — Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) older brother — and Lyanna Stark.
Just to be clear, that means Jon is not Ned Stark’s bastard son,...

Perhaps you can imagine my rage when I saw this:
The terrific soldier-and-her-dog movie Megan Leavey, which had a theatrical release in the Us last June, is going straight to VOD/DVD in the UK… and the film has been renamed Rex.
That’s right: the female protagonist has been erased, in the film’s UK marketing, in favor of the dog. The tagline on the DVD cover reads:
The true story of a Marine’s best friend.
Spoiler: This movie is Not about the dog.
But let’s assume some marketing genius decided that animal movies are easier to sell than lady movies. In that case, there should be a honking big banner across this DVD cover that reads “From Gabriela Cowperthwaite, director of the BAFTA-nominated Blackfish.”
(Blackfish is her incredible documentary about captives orcas, which has raised awareness and radically changed the cultural conversation about the issue.)
