There are two types of people who enjoy crime dramas: some prefer their shows to be brooding and dark, the gorier the better, while others tend to enjoy the mystery element mixed with a heartwarming comedy. Elsbeth is a sure-fire hit for the second group, but it's not the only show you might want to check out.
Here are 8 other shows that will give you as much pleasure as Elsbeth without having to wait weeks to see a new episode.
White Collar (2009-2014)
Starring Matt Bomer as charismatic con man Neal Caffrey, the show follows his journey to become a great detective after getting out of prison in exchange for helping the FBI's White Collar Crimes Unit. The show is light-hearted, yet features some of the best crime cases you will ever see on television. Plus, there is a chance that it will get a reboot soon enough!

If you are going to do a so-called “hilarious” comedy dealing with cancer you better know how to do it. Unfortunately, writer/director Jennifer Cram, for her first feature film in those jobs, does not knock it out of the park.
Sick Girl which stars Nina Dobrev as Wren, a bit of a mess of a 30ish woman whose spur-of-the-moment little white lie about having cancer spirals out of control, would need a satirist along the lines of an Adam McKay to actually pull off this misbegotten comedy which is simply more cringe-inducing than funny, and Cram, whose previous work has been in Casting just can’t find the right tone to make it work. The premise may have sounded good on paper but it quickly turns into a one-joke idea stretched way beyond its worth. Lionsgate is opening this Friday day and date in theatres and VOD, the latter...

After Disney’s underwhelming and button-down session at CinemaCon yesterday, Paramount livened the mood up in a big way with a hysterical opening reel of studio Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos contending with a ditzy chauffeur (Hayley Magnus of the movie The Dressmaker and NBC pilot Like Magic) as he tries to make his way across Las Vegas to CinemaCon.
But that wasn’t all, like Warners, Paramount brought out the stars for its Terminator: The Dark Fate, Rocketman, Sonic the Hedgehog and Dora the Explorer sessions.
It’s ‘a sequel’ reel to what Par showed at last year’s CinemaCon, where he dealt with an inept airline ticket counter receptionist at the Burbank airport. Now, as it turns out she is his driver and she takes him to all the wrong Cons in Vegas, i.e. CinemaKhan, a Star Trek convention where Patrick Stewart pops up, and a Godfather convention.

Serial killer movies are like westerns or gangster flicks; there are all levels of them from cheap slasher exploitation to procedural ones where the heroes are scientific-minded detectives and all sorts of variations in between. Mojave, written and directed by Oscar winner William Monahan (for writing The Departed) is the existential and psychological type. It stars Oscar Isaac, Mark Wahlberg, Garret Hedlund, and Walton Goggins. With that cast and pedigree, you would expect Mojave to be a major release, but the new film has slipped quietly into few theaters this weekend with little fanfare. It’s seriously flawed and I understand why the studio had little faith in it, but it has its moments and for adventurous moviegoers it’s worth seeking out.
Garrett Hedlund stars in Mojave as Thomas, a shaggy-haired movie producer who has it all: a beautiful wife and child, a sprawling home, and a foxy French...

"Who are you? No one in particular." A24 has debuted the first trailer for William Monahan's new thriller Mojave through Entertainment Tonight; view the full trailer below. Oscar Isaac stars along with Garrett Hedlund in this tale of two drifters who meet in the desert. The cast includes Hayley Magnus, Dania Ramirez, and apparently Mark Wahlberg and Walton Goggins, though there isn't much of them in this. It starts out with one story, twists into something more thrilling halfway through, and becomes badass at the end. I'm not sure if this will actually be any good. "This started in the desert, and it's going to end there." Here's the first official trailer for William Monahan's Mojave, first debuted by Entertainment Tonight: A near-suicidal artist (Garrett Hedlund) escapes to the desert only to encounter his doppelganger-like antagonist, a homicidal drifter (Oscar Isaac). Mojave is both written and directed by veteran screenwriter-turned-filmmaker William Monahan,...
