Why Watch? A group of men and women bicker amongst themselves, seeking closure for something that happened years ago. On the other end of the playing field, it’s the memory of a childhood trauma that’s hiding from them. Writer/director Danny Lacey manages a stirring profile here with almost zero exposition, relying instead on his actors’ ability to exude untold frustration and strong visual cues that hint at what might have happened to them while they played in the woods. On that front, there’s an austerity to what’s on the screen. He captures both the dead leaf cold of the forest as well as the cramped heat of the space where the group has convened using sparse dialogue, a floating camera and excellent sound design. Plus, it’s got a killer score to back it up. The music with its haunting beeps might be the best clue as to what the childhood secret...

"Build it and they will come". That was very much the philosophy that led to the creation of Screen Stockport Film Festival around two years ago. What started out as making a short film with my friends, turned into a desire to create a film festival in Stockport to give fellow young filmmakers an opportunity to share their films with an audience.
Screen Stockport was then born, with the ambition of it becoming an inclusive, grassroots film festival for filmmakers of all ages and experiences. I wanted to give young people who aspired to have a career in the media an environment to share their passion and enthusiasm with other creatives and connect with industry professionals from the North West.
