Nyad is a 2023 movie directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, starring Jodie Foster and Annette Bening. It is based on the book by Diana Nyad.
Two great actresses return to the stage to portray, precisely, the comeback of a swimmer, Diana Nyad, who became famous some years ago for attempting something extraordinary: swimming from Cuba to Florida, 180 kilometers in open sea.
The problem: she didn’t succeed at thirty years old and now, at sixty, she gets to work with her friend.
The main attraction of the movie is to see Jodie Foster and Annette Bening on screen again in a film that, without them, wouldn’t have generated much interest.
A movie about personal growth and learning how, even at sixty, incredible feats are still possible.

It’s a fatal flaw and an inherent paradox of most biopics that they reduce a one-of-a-kind personality to an easily legible confluence of social forces and remarkable achievements to a linear series of causes and effects. Nyad, directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin and written by Julia Cox, is unable to buck this trend, though it gains a degree of novelty from a subject whose fascinating life appears to be a confrontation with failure as much as a story of triumph. The film recounts the efforts of endurance swimmer Diane Nyad (Annette Bening) to complete a record-breaking swim from Florida to Cuba, a lifelong dream that she seeks to bring to fruition in her 60s, some four decades after her unsuccessful first attempt.
After a brief opening sequence that recaps her younger years with real-life footage from newsreels and her regular chat show appearances, we’re introduced...

Cosgrove, did watch the Frank Darabont-directed film adaptation and then read the story, hasn't yet had a chance to meet the author who's caused countless nightmares to millions of readers and moviegoers over the years, but the King of horror can rest assured that The Mist is in good hands. One episode was provided for review prior to broadcast.
Compact in size but full of bite, Stephen King’s The Mist told the story of a fog that swept through a sleepy town in Maine carrying demons unseen. The original 1980 novella might have only been 130 pages long, but it left its mark on popular culture, inspiring the seminal video game Half-Life and securing a big-screen adaptation in 2007 as well.
But if books and movies had their moment in the sun, now it’s TV’s turn. In a post-Breaking Bad and soon Game of Thrones climate, television is an art-form that’s on the rise, and money is being channeled towards creating shows that look like blockbuster films with the type of character development books once held exclusive rights over.
The Mist is TV for a new age, then; a gorgeously-shot character ensemble about people and their personal struggles.

Much like the thick veil of supernatural (?) fog blanketing the quaint town of Bridgeville, series showrunner Christian Torpe wants to keep viewers largely in the dark when it comes to The Mist and the horrors that lies within.
With little over a week to go until Spike’s premiere, Arrow in the Head caught up with Torpe to discuss his creative approach to Stephen King’s eerie novella, how it differs from Frank Darabont’s film adaptation, and why he believes that The Mist is just as much about the town’s reaction to chaos as it is about that abnormally thick, downright terrifying fog that begins to roll in off the mountains. As a matter of fact, Christian Torpe even went so far as to say that The Mist isn’t a “full-blown monster show,” which is almost to be expected.
For one, Spike’s small-screen reboot doesn’t...

You wait months – no, years – for a Stephen King adaptation and suddenly, three come along almost at once. In two weeks’ time, Spike will kick things off with a small-screen rendition of The Mist, King’s horror novella that imagines a scenario in which the quaint town of Bridgeville, Maine is enveloped by a deeply mysterious fog. Is it a government experiment gone awry? A surprise chemical attack? Or something not of this world?
Those questions will permeate the very fabric of Spike’s TV series, which will tell its unsettling story over the course of ten hour-long episodes – for the first season, at least. It’s the first of three Stephen King properties earmarked for an adaptation, what with The Dark Tower (August 4th) and It (September 8th) looming large on the horizon, too.
What immediately piques our curiosity about The Mist, though, is the fact that showrunner Christian Torpe...

We've got a new trailer for you to watch for the upcoming series reimagining of Stephen King's classic story The Mist. This is one of my favorite stories from the author and this series looks like it's going to be a great creepy-ass horror series.
The Mist centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world and, in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
The Mist stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Washington, Jr. and Frances Conroy.

Well, in just a couple of weeks you can flip the channel over to Spike where the TV adaptation of Stephen King‘s “The Mist” will be rolling in. A primal fear begins to wash over the quaint town of Bridgton, Maine in these two nerve-shredding featurettes for The Mist, Spike’s long-awaited adaptation of the Stephen King horror masterclass.
Pegged to premiere late next month, The Mist will kick things off with a ten-episode run on Spike – for the first season, at least – that largely centers on Eve Copeland (Vikings star Alyssa Sutherland), a young mother ostracized by the people of Bridgton because her daughter reported a rape against one of the town’s star football players – the poster child of Maine, essentially. It’s a brutal crime that threatens to tear their family apart, and things only begin to escalate once that supernatural fog begins to roll in off the mountains. Is it the result of a government experiment gone awry? An alien invasion? Or something much, much worse?
Spike is understandably keeping firm details under lock and key,...

"What happens if we're a society who becomes ruled by fear?"
I'm pretty excited about this new series adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror story, The Mist. The last trailer that was released was great, and today we have a new behind-the-scenes featurette that offers new details on the story and the characters. The featurette is called "Entering The Mist", and it features the cast and crew talking about the series along with showing off new footage.
I like the direction they are taking the story, and it actually looks like it will be a very creepy show that will dive into psychological terror, which is exactly what I wanted to see from it!

Spike has unleashed the second trailer for their series adaptation of Stephen King's horror thriller The Mist. The first trailer set a great creepy tone for the series. This latest trailer gives us more of a taste of some of the messed up bloody terror that will be included in the series.

Depending on who you ask, Frank Darabont‘s “The Mist” is either a stone-cold classic Stephen King adaptation, or it left room for improvement. Well, if you’re in the latter camp, the new TV series based on the author’s story not only takes a new crack at bringing it to life, but it expands the tale and brings it to some intriguing new places.
Starring Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock Jr.

If you grew up a huge Stephen King fan, 2017 is turning out to be the wet dream you never could have planned for. This year alone, we’re getting adaptations of two pieces of his seminal works: It and The Dark Tower. Additionally, work has begun on Castle Rock, a series that works as something of a shared universe between a lot of his stories, and Mr. Mercedes is also set to premiere this fall. If all that wasn’t enough, Spike will also be remaking one of his shorter novellas, The Mist, into a new TV series.

One of my favorite Stephen King stories is The Mist and a series adaptation of it was announced back in 2015. Well, today the first eerie trailer has rolled in and I like what I'm seeing so far. As you'll see, the series doesn't follow the exact story that King wrote, but I understand they had to change some things up for the series. After watching the trailer, it wasn't hard for me to embrace those changes. It just helps open the world up more and I think it has potential to be a great show that will offer up some intensity and scares. I'm totally looking forward to watching it!

The news front on Spike TV's adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist has been relatively quiet in recent months, but that's now changed thanks to a new interview Lilja's Library conducted with Christian Torpe, the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of The Mist TV series, who discussed adapting King's novella, his respect for Frank Darabont's 2007 film, King's reaction to the pilot episode, and more.
Speaking with Lilja's Library, Torpe expressed his desire to do something different with his take on King's seminal novella, including not retreading Darabont's adaptation, which he greatly admires:
"It is not the same story as in the book and the movie, nor is it the same characters – but fans of the story will still see clear parallels... Some things are exactly the same, some are totally different. Some things you think are the same as in the original, but turn out to be something else entirely.
