Sydney Lauren Robinson specializes in dramatic, glamorous and
beautifully polished looks that are inspired by her background in
theatre and opera. Sydney graduated Magna cum Laude from Emerson
College in Boston, MA where she majored in Costume Design with a
Specialty in Makeup and Wigs. In addition to numerous Emerson Stage
shows, student films and original student productions for which she
designed hair and makeup, Sydney received the prestigious First Place
award in Region I for Costume Design from the Kennedy Center for
Emerson's adaptation of Luigi Pirandello's "Six Characters in Search of
An Author." Her other awards include an Honorable Mention for Makeup
and Hair Design from the Kennedy Center for Emerson's "The Hundred
Dresses" to which she also contributed the title illustrations as part
of their scenic design; and the Rising Star Award for her hair and
makeup designs for Livingston High School's production of "Oklahoma!"
from the Papermill Playhouse of New Jersey during her junior year of
high school.
Sydney has spent every summer since 2003 interning and volunteering with the Chautauqua Opera Company in upstate New York where she gained initial wig styling experience.
Since graduating from Emerson, Sydney has freelanced in the Boston area doing makeup work for actors, models, photographers and alternative performers.
She has worked with the Lyric Stage Company of Boston and continues to work with the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge. Her most recent job there was doing wigs and scar makeup for "Porgy and Bess" where she worked on Audra McDonald and cast before the show went to Broadway.
