Soori’s action comedy Garudan continues its impressive run at the box office, collecting a respectable 2.20 crore on its first Tuesday. While this marks a minor drop from its Monday earnings, the film’s overall performance remains strong.
Occupancy for the Tamil-language movie stayed steady at 21.59% on Tuesday, contributing to its five-day total of 19.40 crore. Directed by Durai Senthil Kumar and produced by Grass Root Film Company and Lark Studios, Garudan boasts a star cast featuring Soori Muthuchamy, M. Sasikumar, and Unni Mukundan.
This success story isn’t without its highlights. This victory propels Garudan to the coveted position of the 5th Highest Grossing Kollywood film of the year.

Mumbai, Feb 21 (Ians) The legendary Indian scientist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman will be commemorated on the National Science Day-2023 on February 28 — marking the 95th anniversary of his path-breaking discovery of scattering of light known as ‘Raman Effect’ — officials said here on Tuesday.
For this, the Tamil Nadu-born Sir Raman became the first Asian to get a Nobel Prize (1930) when he was just 42 years old, and later India conferred the Bharat Ratna on him in 1954.
Remembering Sir Raman’s outstanding scientific contributions, the Nehru Science Centre (Nsc) here has kickstarted a week-long programme involving renowned scientists, experts, teachers, and students with a host of event for the young minds, first time after the two-year gap owing to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.
Some of the stalwarts who will speak during the week include Dr. Joe P. Ninan of Tifr on ‘Exoplanets and Humanity’s Search for Other Worlds’, Dr. M. Sasikumar of...

Bengaluru, Feb 20 (Ians) Top-seed Chun-Hsin Tseng of Taipei and Australias Marc Polmans advanced to the Round of 16 of the Bengaluru Open 2023 with comprehensive wins, here on Monday.
There was some good news for local tennis fans as India’s Pranjesh Gunneswaran qualified for the main draw by winning his final qualifying round match. But the focus was on Tseng, a World No 131, who did not have to break much sweat in warding off Frederico Silva of Portugal in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Tseng bagged the first set 6-4 with the help of a single break. The Taipei player was in full control of the proceedings, sending down 3 aces and winning a humongous 93 percent of first serves.
The second set started in a rather bizarre manner with both Tseng and Silva trading breaks in the first five games. Both the players committed a slew of unforced errors in that passage of the game.

Film: "Kutti Puli"; Cast: M. Sasikumar, Lakshmy Menon, Saranya Ponvannan and Prabha; Director: M. Muthaiah; Rating: ** - commercially loud, narratively cliched.
Having realised his strength quite early on in his career, Sasikumar once again chooses a film that exploits rural settings to the fullest. And every time he has used the rural backdrop, his films have reaped gold at the box office, including his last film "Sundarapandian". "Kutti Puli" may likely follow the trend, but I highly doubt if it will leave a similar impact a la "Subramaniapuram" or "Nadodigal".
Improvisation is the need of the hour in cinema, but Sasikumar.
