People had lost power earlier in the day. Thousands of them. That's how it was on the afternoon in late July when I ferried out to Staten Island to watch as Method Man shot the video (above) for "Straight Gutta," which premiered yesterday. The song is the second single from Meth's latest album, Meth Lab. The last time anyone had seen Meth in a video, he was telling us where the poop comes out in Amy Schumer’s “Milk Milk Lemonade” rap-video parody. The "Straight Gutta" shoot, set as it was in a small skate park housed in a warehouse on Front Street near Park Hill, had a very different vibe. There was no A/C, and everyone on set was sweating — including Meth, who was wearing a crisp pinstriped Reggie Jackson jersey that he was loath to let anyone touch, even if just to add a mic. Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson on Sunday apologized for swearing at an autograph-seeking fan at a restaurant in Cooperstown, New York. Jackson apparently had a change of heart and said he was sorry for unleashing a foul-mouthed rant on Friday night on a fan who he claimed was trying to get multiple autographs in one day. “A sincere apology for my profanity in public to all fans. Certainly not a way to communicate. Mad or not, no excuse,” Jackson tweeted from his @MrOctober account. A few quick thoughts on last night's "Parenthood" coming up just as soon as I still have one screw left... Though this final season is only 13 episodes, a lot of the storylines feel like they've been running for much longer than that — some because they began in previous seasons (Joel and Julia's separation), and some simply because we keep taking one step forward and then one step back with them. It's always a challenge with a small, low-concept show like this, even in a year that has dealt with bigger life cycle events like pregnancy, health crises, marriage proposals, failing businesses and more. And some episodes have definitely dragged on, despite the usual fine acting and strong individual moments. "Let's Go Home" brought several big stories to, if not closure, then to major decisions — all of them made after much thought and discussion amongst the four Braverman sibs — with Sarah accepting Hank's proposal,...

Alex Rodriguez is currently serving a 162-game suspension from Major League Baseball for violating drug policy, but even though he’s 39 years old, he has every intention of making his way back to Yankee Stadium in 2015, if only to collect his more than $20 million per season salary. But though he’s won two Most Valuable Players as a Yankee and helped them win the 2009 World Series, Rodriguez’s infamy will likely prevent him from ever being considered an all-time Yankee.

This would be an interesting move for Yahoo if what The Wall Street Journal refers to as “preliminary talks” to buy Ndn bear fruit. Ndn syndicates videos from TV stations and other producers to online services for newspapers and news services including the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Daily News, and Bloomberg. Ndn says it’s the No. 5 online video platform, with more than 49M unique monthly viewers. Backers include Google Chairman Eric Schmidt’s TomorrowVentures, actor Bill Murray and baseball legend Reggie Jackson. On the surface, it looks like a perfect puzzle piece for Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer in her effort to turn her company into an online video power, drawing ad revenues from TV among other sources. But will a deal take place? The paper includes the usual caveats that talks are “still early and a deal may not be reached for several weeks or may fall apart.

Eric Simonson is well on his way to immortalizing every sport in a Broadway play: First, there was football (“Lombardi”), then basketball (“Magic/Bird”) and now baseball with his “Bronx Bombers,” which opened Thursday at Circle in the Square. At this rate, aficionados of synchronized swimming should probably get their play sometime in the next decade. In “Bronx Bombers,” it’s crisis time in the land of the Yankees. And a sports crisis for Simonson, who also directs, is equal to a nuclear meltdown or the onset of male pattern baldness. Before “Bombers” opens, the Yankee’s star player Reggie Jackson (Francois Battiste) and manager.

Pms takes on a whole new meaning in "The Neighbors" episode "Man, Actually," when Zabvronian reproductive cycles bring depression to the men of the alien household. With Dick Butkus going through the Terrible 10s and Debbie going back to school at the same time, it's going to be an emotional episode.
This clip from "Man, Actually," which you can see exclusively on Zap2it, shows just how depressed Reggie Jackson (Tim Jo) and Larry Bird (Simon Templeman) are, now that their cycles have synchronized. All of this is understandably stressful to the already-stressed Debbie Weaver (Jami Gertz). Quite frankly, she doesn't particularly want to hear any of the details.
Thus, poor Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Toks Olagundoye) has to deal with her fretful men on her own.
"Man, Actually" airs Friday (Jan. 24) at 8:30 p.m. Et on ABC.

I will never understand why the world does not embrace "The Neighbors" as one of the funniest shows on television. The Season 2 premiere, "Family Conference," for example, has far more and far cleverer laughs than almost anything on television.
Also, you can watch it with very old or very young relatives and not be embarrassed. That's a big win.
Whatever the bizarre reasons are that not everyone loves "The Neighbors," at least we can say that those fools are missing out on greatness yet again in Season 2. "Family Conference" makes that very clear.
The basics
Amber and Reggie Jackson have managed to keep their "Romeo and Juliet"-esque romance a secret all summer. Alas, this comes crashing to the ground when their parents see them and scream a lot.
So of course the aliens need to have a family conference in order to vote on Amber and Reggie's relationship status.

"The Neighbors" was the most hated new comedy last season. And then it got renewed for a second season. And then it got an Emmy nomination. ABC and "The Neighbors" creator Dan Fogelman won.
But they still haven't won all of us over. If you're like me, once you gave up on the show (for me, it was after the pilot), you never went back -- but is there reason to return in Season 2? I caught up with Fogelman who, of course, strongly believes that there is.
"Watch the musical episode, and then watch the season finale," Fogelman said. "Watch those two, and hand to God, if you don't turn around on it, I 100 percent understand, but I think you will. I know you will, so I don't have to say more that that. That is my challenge to you: Watch those two episodes and be not charmed."

A mathematical formula is only useful if it confirms what the observer knows to be empirically true, like two plus two is four. Applying that logic to something more complex, if I told you that I had a system that could quantify and rank the biggest movie stars of all time, you would be immediately skeptical if my calculations insisted the top 3 were Emilio Estevez, Burt Reynolds, and George Raft. All three actors were stars, of course, but clearly, my movie-star algorithm has a few kinks.

In the world of baseball Reggie Jackson is known as “Mr. October” since he was usually a part of the big Fall event: the World Series. Perhaps Mark Wahlberg could earn the nickname of “Mr. January”. A year ago this month he starred in the “B-movie” action/thriller Contraband (he had a Summer flick coming up, Ted, which proved to be quite the blockbuster). The modest Contraband had a better chance at the box office early in the year before the Summer onslaught of blockbusters. This ear Mr. W has a few higher profile flicks starting with Pain And Gain in a few months. But lete’s talk about the current movie, Broken City. It too is an action/thriller with a healthy dose of political intruige tossed in. Oh, and there’s a couple Oscar winning actors sharing the screen with “Mr. January”. This week’s Wednesday night comedy block on ABC featured a slew of Halloween themed episodes. Or, in The Neighbors’ case – “Halloween-ween.”
Need an explanation? Here we go!
It’s their first human holiday in Hidden Hills and the Weavers are excited. While last week’s episode of The Neighbors focused on the adults of the families, this week took a closer look at how the alien-human culture gap affects the children.
It was, after all, the kids’ first day of school.
In the opening minutes of the episode we find out that the Weavers are attempting to help the Zabvronian kids prepare for the big day, though the task of helping Dick Butkus has been delegated to Max Weaver. And how does the middle Weaver go about this? By putting Dick through tests of what bullying is like – namely, having his head dunked in a toilet. This prompts a warning lecture from the Weavers that in human school it is the smallest and weakest that is instantly picked on by tougher kids and Dick will be that picked-on kid.
When the actual first day arrives Debbie Weaver finds herself torn between...

Last night on The Neighbors Marty and Debbie made their first attempt at - well, human contact. After spending the past weeks with just their children and the Zabvronians, the human couple was itching for some normalcy and planned to have their four favorite couples over for a boys’ night of poker, and a girls’ night out. Marty and Debbie Weaver carefully plan their method of breaking the news to Larry Bird and Jackie Joyner-Kersee very carefully, as apparently, whenever Larry feels pain or rejection (or any emotion as we see later) the rest of the Zabvronian community does, too.
But even though they manage to cancel an evening with the couple, when your neighbors are aliens things don’t go as planned.
When Jackie gets the notion that Debbie obviously wants her to meet the rest of their friends, she lets Reggie Jackson show her clips of Real Housewives...

Week two of ABC’s new comedy The Neighbors took family comedy to an interestingly amusing level. Now that we know the neighbors are aliens, the stories in the show can delve more into how the rift in species affects the families, and last night’s episode did that --with the Weavers taking the Zabvronians to the mall.
The Weavers’ day begins after Debbie’s nightmare that the aliens were kidnapping her children. Apparently, it isn’t the first time, making the Weaver matriarch a little paranoid about the Zabvronians watching them. But this goes both ways. Both families seem concerned about the other’s intentions. Particularly the Zabvronians’ worries about their children hanging around the humans, picking up a desire to go to, dare we say… school.
In fact, the alien children, Dick Butkis and Reggie Jackson, go to the Weavers for help convincing their “parental unit.” And continuing...

Chicago – And the award for the worst new show of the season goes to…drum roll please…while “Guys with Kids,” “Partners,” and “The Mob Doctor” put up a Hell of a fight, “The Neighbors” wins in a landslide. This dated, cliched, unfunny, grating, horrendous program is so bad that it makes one assume that blackmail must have been involved in its scheduling because one can’t believe that anyone looked at this and thought it should be funded enough to get on the air for creative reasons.

Terry O'Quinn as Gavin Doran in "666 Park Avenue" (ABC/Andrew Eccles)
ABC‘s slate of new shows for fall has a strange flavor to it, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride. The network has about as many new shows as returning ones (if you count all the midseasons), and a good percentage of the returning offerings are a year old or less, making this look a bit like a rebuilding year.
Not only is it a rebuilding year, but it’s the year of bringing back every actor and actress who ever had a decent run on a show before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a network’s new season slate that was so crammed with people returning from something else. If you can’t make it good, I suppose, make sure viewers recognize the faces.
It’s tricky to get a solid feel...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the third one announced. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on ABC.
An odd year for the once mighty juggernaut which can still pack 'em in. It had surprise success stories with "Once Upon a Time" and "Revenge", the latter becoming an unexpected international hit, and several shows have gotten renewals despite more modest numbers. Still, with it battling with NBC for the third and fourth position overall, the network has to introduce ten shows over the course of the season in the hope of getting a few stickers.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen include the fashion label dynasty soap "Americana", ABC's update of the 90's "Beauty and the Beast" TV series, the Roland Emmerich-produced thriller "Dark Horse", the...

With the broadcast networks done shoring up their fall schedule, let’s take a look at what genre fans (and the gays) have to look forward to:
ABC offers two genre themed show’s next season, one drama the other a comedy. 666 Park Avenue returns Lost alumni and bad-ass actor Terry O’Quinn to the small screen. Everyone has needs, desires and ambition, and for the residents of The Drake, these will all be met, courtesy of the building’s mysterious owner. But every Faustian contract comes with a price. When Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and Henry Martin (Dave Annable), an idealistic young couple from the Midwest, are offered the opportunity to manage the historic building, they not only fall prey to the machinations of Doran and his mysterious wife, Olivia (Vanessa Williams), but unwittingly begin to experience the shadowy, supernatural forces within the building that imprison and endanger...

Last Resort
According to the Official ABC Description: 500 feet beneath the ocean’s surface, the U.S. ballistic missile submarine Colorado receive their orders. Over a radio channel, designed only to be used if their homeland has been wiped out, they’re told to fire nuclear weapons at Pakistan.
Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) demands confirmation of the orders only to be unceremoniously relieved of duty by the White House. Xo Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) finds himself suddenly in charge of the submarine and facing the same difficult decision. When he also refuses to fire without confirmation of the orders, the Colorado is targeted, fired upon, and hit. The submarine and its crew find themselves crippled on the ocean floor, declared rogue enemies of their own country. Now, with nowhere left to turn, Chaplin and Kendal take the sub on the run and bring the men and women of the Colorado to an exotic island.

Yesterday was ABC‘s turn for upfront presentations, which meant that yesterday morning the network released its fall schedule and more detailed information about its new 2012-2013 series. We’ve been watching the development of 666 Park Avenue starring Terry O’Quinn for some time now, and had been keeping an eye on the alien comedy The Neighbors, but we got a wonderful surprise today when we saw the full description of midseason (meaning 2013) series Zero Hour starring Anthony Edwards.
We had been told that he played a skeptic whose wife gets abducted, but happily, as we found today, he is a “confessed paranormal junkie” and that he will be running ”a breathless race against the clock to find his wife and save humanity.” Ooo, save humanity! It’s also said to be a DaVinci Code-type hunt with ancient clues. What sealed it for me was the trailer, which we have for you.

ABC obviously has high hopes for its alien comedy "The Neighbors," slating it to follow the network's golden goose "Modern Family" at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays this fall.
Aliens may not seem like the obvious choice for a comedy premise in 2012, but the trailer is just so different from all of the other new shows being trotted out this week by the networks that it definitely deserves a look.
Here's the deal: Debbie (Jami Gertz) and Marty Weaver (Lenny Venito) recently moved with their three kids to Hidden Hills, an exclusive New Jersey community that hasn't had a house come on the market in 10 years. And the neighbors are ... a little odd. They all have pro-athlete names like Reggie Jackson (Tim Jo), Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Toks Olagundoye), Dick Butkis (Ian Patrick) and Larry Bird (Simon Templeman). Pretty soon, though, the secret's out, and the Weavers learn that the whole community is made up of aliens.

The Neighbors: First Look at ABC's New Alien Family Comedy
ABC seems to be putting an old spin on the family comedy with The Neighbors, a new series about a townhouse community that happens to be populated by very strange people.
Meet the Weaver family, headed by Debbie (Jami Gertz) and Marty (Lenny Venito). In hopes of providing a better life for his family, Marty managed to buy a home in Hidden Hills, a community in New Jersey.
But the Weavers soon realize that their neighbors aren’t exactly normal. All of them have strange pro-athlete names, like Reggie Jackson (Tim Jo), Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Toks Olagundoye), Dick Butkis (Ian Patrick) and Larry Bird (Simon Templeman). Their social skills are non-existent and, as the Weavers discover, they don’t eat, they receive nourishment through their eyes by reading books.
In other words, the Weavers’ neighbors are aliens from a planet called Zabvron.

"Revenge" is heading over to Sunday nights at 9 p.m. Et, the slot the now dead "Desperate Housewives" occupied up until last week. Old standby "Grey's Anatomy" is staying put, as is "Scandal," but they're paired with newcomer "Last Resort."

Chicago – After an incredibly successful 2011-2012 season, ABC is doing something of a victory lap by not changing much of what worked about a season that saw the network create a number of new hits, including “Revenge,” “Once Upon a Time,” and “Suburgatory.” They will premiere four new shows in the Fall with a few exciting offerings being held for mid-season. “Last Man Standing” and “Body of Proof” will also wait until January.
Much of the ABC schedule for Fall 2012 will look the same as Spring 2012. “Dancing with the Stars,” “Castle,” “The Middle,” “Suburgatory,” “Modern Family,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “20/20” — they’re stayiing exactly where they are. In big movement news, Sundays have been tinkered with again with two of their most interesting sophomore series — “Once Upon a Time” and “Revenge” — moving to the night and leading in to a new series. George Costanza and the Soup Nazi have buried the hatchet. "Seinfeld" star Jason Alexander has partnered with The Original SoupMan years after "No Soup For You!" became a pop culture phenomenon.
In "The Soup Nazi," the Season 7 episode of "Seinfeld" that originally aired on Nov. 2, 1995, George famously does not follow the rules at the soup restaurant inspired by Al Yeganeh's Soup Kitchen International and thus, has his soup taken away and is kicked out of the restaurant.

Tim DeKay played catcher throughout his high school baseball career, a position often described as the director of the field. That seems fitting for the "White Collar" actor, since he directed Tuesday night's all-new episode (8 p.m. Est on USA), entitled "Stealing Home."
"It's the only player who faces a completely opposite direction than all of his teammates," DeKay told HuffPost TV. "The catcher sees the entire field, knows what everyone should be doing."
So when he found out that he was going to get the chance to direct an episode of "White Collar," DeKay -- who already has a few short films under his director's belt -- was ready for the challenge. "They knew that I wanted to direct since Season 1," said DeKay. "They approached me and said, 'You should direct next season.' Consequently, I'll be directing an episode every season. Fortunately, the stars aligned, and I got to direct a baseball episode.
