Fifteen years ago, moviegoers were collectively hit with a narrative haymaker -- one its director firmly stands by. In 2007, it didn't matter whether you had already read Stephen King's 1980 novella "The Mist," because director Frank Darabont changed the story's hopeful ending to something much heavier in his adaptation, requiring a lead actor who could sell its bleak emotional truths without going over the top. The "Walking Dead" scribe knew exactly who he wanted to play painter David Drayton, the man who would guide the audience through the besieging of a small Maine town by cosmic, tentacled creatures. According to the director himself, Thomas Jane was always at the top of the list.

George Romero has accrued well-earned praise over his 50-plus-year career. The "Godfather of the Dead" made a splash in 1968 with one of the first midnight movies, "The Night of the Living Dead," introducing audiences to the prototype for what we would recognize as the modern-day zombie: shuffling around, eating people, must be shot in the head, that sort of thing. His filmography is extensive enough to get its own Wikipedia page which includes further "Dead" movies over the decades – "Dawn of," "Day of," Land of," and the maligned "Diary of" — as well as the odd Dario Argento or Stephen King collaboration (as well as one that Could Have Been).
The latter worked with Romero over the years on the classic anthology "Creepshow" and in adapting his own 1989 novel "The Dark Half" for the big screen four years later. Among the accolades, the multi-hyphenate received over his career and prior to...

CNN announced today anchor Chris Cuomo has been terminated, “effective immediately.”
“Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense,” CNN said in a statement. “We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately.”
“While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light,” CNN continued. “Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate.”
Cuomo released his own statement in response.
“This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother. So let me now say as disappointing as this is, I could not be more proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 show in the most competitive time slot,...

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the freshman Republican congresswoman from Georgia who has a history of beliefs in QAnon conspiracy theories and that mass school shootings were staged, was stripped of her committee assignments Thursday in a vote by the U.S. House of Representatives.
Lawmakers voted 230-199 to remove Greene from the committees as a sanction for her incendiary comments. Eleven Republicans joined with Democrats in favor of the resolution.
Greene has drawn extensive media attention since she was sworn in to Congress, but her views got extra focus last week as news outlets reported on her “likes” of Facebook posts that advocated violence against members of Congress, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Another video surfaced in which she was shown berating David Hogg, one of the survivors of the Parkland, Fl, school shootings. Other postings advanced anti-Semitic and racist tropes.

The House voted Thursday to decide whether to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene, aka the “QAnon congresswoman,” from her committee assignments based on her history of controversial comments, including liking comments on Facebook that called for the execution of Nancy Pelosi and other prominent Democrats. Eleven Republicans, including Rep. Adam Kinzinger, sided with Democrats, but the vote was otherwise along party lines, 230-199.
“QAnon has no place in Congress,” a spokesperson for Kinzinger told Forbes reporter Andrew Solender, adding, “While he respects the voice of the people and their right to...

Update: House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced that Democrats will bring to the floor a resolution to strip Greene of her committee assignments. “I spoke to Leader McCarthy this morning, and it is clear there is no alternative to holding a Floor vote on the resolution to remove Rep. Greene from her committee assignments,” Hoyer wrote on Wednesday. “The Rules Committee will meet this afternoon, and the House will vote on the resolution tomorrow.”

CNN Airport, a long-running out-of-home media operation that became an integral part of the traveling experience for people flying through Chicago’s O’Hare, Dallas’ Love Field or even Fresno-Yosemite International Airport, is shutting down, the victim of shifts in consumer behavior that are moving more quickly than a Boeing 737.
CNN said the operation, which aired a mix of news from CNN and snippets from other WarnerMedia networks in 58 different airports in the U.S., would close as of March 31.
“The steep decline in airport traffic because of Covid-19, coupled with all of the new ways that people are consuming content on their personal devices, has lessened the need for the CNN Airport Network and we had to make the very difficult decision to end its operation,” the AT&T unit said in a statement.
This is the second CNN operation to be shuttered in the past five months. The company...

It’s early August, and Steve King has just told a handful of constituents gathered in the Charles City, Iowa, public library that their tax dollars are paying for undocumented immigrants to be flown “anywhere in America they want to go,” including Hawaii.
The nine-term congressman from the state’s 4th District has been preaching about the ills of undocumented immigration for years, but he’s especially riled up this morning. This is his first public appearance since returning from a trip to the border, where he...

Stephen King is easily the undisputed king of horror. The writer has given us some of the best spooky books of all-time, and it’s actually scary how many incredibly terrifying novels he’s written. There’s, of course, The Shining, but then there’s also the likes of Pet Sematary, The Stand, It, Misery, Carrie, Salem’s Lot… The list is literally endless.
However, he’s not only brought us these incredible works of horror fiction, but his books have also been made into movies and TV shows, and some of them are regarded to be amongst the best ever. There’s the aforementioned Shining (although King didn’t think much of that film), and then we’ve also got It and The Shawshank Redemption, which was inspired by his novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, just to name a few.
So when King offers his thoughts on the genre,...

The day after damaging testimony from a former top U.S. diplomat undermined President Trump’s claim that there was no quid pro quo in the administration’s decision to withhold military aid from Ukraine while demanding an investigation into Trump’s political opponents, a mob of House Republicans stormed a secure congressional chamber where a new impeachment deposition was to take place on Wednesday.
