Dale Metz has been a photo and film enthusiast for years though he
began a formal study of photography in 1998. In early 2010, upon
retiring from a career in the fire service as a Deputy Fire Chief, he
developed a passion for filmmaking. His ability to use knowledge
learned as a still photographer in telling a story through film has
opened a new dimension of expression. He enjoys collaboration, project
development and working with actors and crew.
Born and raised in Florida, he received a Bachelor degree from Florida
State and has studied photography through Seminole Community College
and various workshops. Dale has a diverse interest in
photography/cinematography and enjoys nature and macro work. He
attempts to use light, composition, and special photographic techniques
or film to produce images that are compelling and dramatic. His
approach to cinematography is very similar to still photography; seeing
the moving image as a collection of still photos.
His professional photographic experience includes wedding, portrait,
fine art and commercial work. He has produced product advertisements
and composite work for promotional publications. Dale Metz has won
numerous awards and recognitions for his photography and short film
work and currently (2014) donates time as a board member with the
Florida Institute of Recording, Sound and Technology (F.I.R.S.T).
