Establishing a shared cinematic universe is hard. Take Warner Bros. and DC's attempt at matching the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for instance. Though it had some commercial successes, the DC Extended Universe ultimately disintegrated over the course of several recent box office bombs that included superheroic flop "The Flash." Then, there was Universal, with its ill-fated Dark Universe, which would have seen updated takes on classic Universal monsters inhabiting a shared timeline that would ultimately lead to some sort of monster team-up. Unfortunately, the whole thing failed almost instantly with the disappointment that was 2017's "The Mummy."
Now, with the almighty MCU even struggling to maintain its dominance amid the deluge of "content" being pumped out in its name, it seems harder than ever to construct and maintain a successful shared cinematic universe. But that won't stop horror director Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who is now threatening an entire interconnected...

Producers Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey are building a cinematic universe out of horror movies based on public domain family friendly stories – including Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, that film’s sequels, Pinocchio Unstrung, and Bambi: The Reckoning, which is inspired by Felix Salten’s 1923 novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods. The Bambi horror movie started filming back in January, aiming to make its way out into the world sometime this fall, and today a teaser trailer has arrived online. The brand new trailer for Bambi: The Reckoning has arrived, giving a first look at the latest Poohniverse installment entry that puts a horror twist on a classic children’s property.
It follows “Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron) who find themselves in a car wreck and soon hunted down by the vicious killing machine, Bambi.”
That’s right. There’s nothing sweet and doe-eyed about Bambi this time. See for yourself in the teaser trailer below.
Filming on Bambi: The Reckoning kicked off on January 6, 2024 in England with a planned Fall 2024 release.
Director Dan Allen (Unhinged) previews, “It’s gonna be terrifying. When people see a deer in the wild after this film they’re gonna run for the hills. This film is about the death of childhoods as much as it’s gonna ruin childhoods Expect bloodshed, tears and rabbits… and one mean killer deer.

That’s right, everyone’s favourite fawn, Bambi, is also getting the horror treatment and we now have our first look at the upcoming horror film.
Take a look at the Bambi: The Reckoning trailer below.
Granted, it’s only a 61-second teaser and only gives us a brief look at the film, but we do get a shot of the monstrous deer flipping a car over with its antlers. Say less, we’re in.
Here’s the short description that accompanies the film’s trailer...

The Addams Family 2 Trailer: "Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?"

"Which one of these houses do you live in?" Don't forget your mask! Or else. This creepy new horror short is from filmmakers Zak White and Todd Spence, the same duo that makes lots of horror shorts all year long for Midnight Video. Face Mask is their latest creation, a social commentary horror about the pandemic and dangerous anti-mask idiots, as well as a very unsettling short with a wicked twist. When one man takes the trash out and is confronted by a neighbor one night, things get a bit tense. Starring Bill Parmentier and Zachary Allen Farmer. The mask guy's look and voice and everything about him is just so creepy. Spence & White, who let Adam Huber & Dan Allen direct this one, are always so good about taking a simple concept and making it super scary with some discomforting filmmaking tricks. And also writing something that comments on the...

While Universal Pictures is looking at rebooting their classic movie monster franchises, High Octane Pictures is releasing their own Mummy monster movie called The Mummy Reborn. While this is more of a low budget movie with a bunch of actors that you’ve never heard of, it looks a lot more entertaining than Tom Cruise’s Mummy movie!
The Mummy Reborn tells of a group of teens in financial ruin that decide to rob the local antique store of an ancient amulet. But what they don't realize is that this tomb is cursed, and when the amulet is separated from it's master he will do anything to get it back. Our burglars must save the day and return the Mummy to it's tomb before it is too late to save the world.

A business woman (Amelia Gardham) is walking through an underpass whilst texting, when she accidently drops her bag, spilling the contents onto the floor. As she starts to collect her items, she is suddenly notices a mysterious looking figure is stood front of her, a mime who is copying her every move. Although unsettled, she at first to mock the mime to try and throw him off her movements, but after he continues to perfectly match her every move, she turn her back and decides to walk away. But when she suddenly realises she has forgotten her handbag she is forced to turn back and confront the mime.
It is difficult to build up the tension and create characters who you really care about in three minutes, but director Dan Allen manages to create a simple but extremely effective horror in his new #3Minute Horror short The Mime.

#3Minute Horror is a new web series from British filmmaker Dan Allen (the Unhinged remake). With attention spans diminishing, the series offers a short film which is suited to the modern audience offering an experience which can be watched on all media, anywhere.
With the first #3Minute Horror short, The Mime, now released on http://youtube.com/DanAllenFilms I got an opportunity to speak with Dan and ask him a few questions about why he decided to so a #3MinuteHorror web series and what we can expect in the future.
Why did you decide to create a web-series of #3Minute Horror movies?
I had a lot of ideas bubbling around for villains and characters and plots. Off the back of my feature Unhinged I didn’t want to immediately commit to another big project, so I was excited about this concept which would allow me to create an array of...

With Unhinged due to be released on 25th September, I had the pleasure of talking with the co-writer and director Dan Allen about why he chose to remake a 1980’s Video Nasty as his first feature film.
You started making films at a young age. What first got you into film making?
When I was young my parents got me a couple of these, behind the scenes books, mainly for Jurassic Park (1993). It showed you all these animatronic dinosaurs, what they looked like without skin on. They had the camera pointed at scenes where they have a head poking in and if the camera pans slightly to the right you would have this dude with all this metal polls and stuff. I just loved that idea of making things for the screen.
I have always been interested in the construction of film and I think Jurassic Park was one of the first films,...

Tagline: "Everyone's Dying for a Wedding Invite." The United Kingdom's 88 Films will distribute Unhinged. A remake of the 1982 film, by Don Gronquist, Unhinged will be available in late September. A North American release date remains elusive. Unhinged is a film from Dan Allen, featuring Lucy-Jane Quinlan (The Cutting Room, 2015), Kate Lister, Becca Hirani and Lorena Andrea. A UK trailer was released for this title, earlier in the year (hosted below). And, an alternate poster is also available. All of the latest release details for Unhinged are posted here. Both versions of Unhinged deal with a group of travelling friends. They are heading to a wedding, in England. But, the girls have a confrontation with a strange driver, leaving them stranded in the woods. A remote house offers shelter. But, Miss Perkins (Michelle Archer) is storing someone or something in the attic. Now, these bridesmaids must escape 'it,' if they...

Melissa (Kate Lister) and her three friends have come from America and are travelling along the back roads of England on route to her wedding. When Melissa is attacked, her sister Lisa (Lucy-Jane Quinlan) accidentally kills the attacker when trying to save her. Concerned as to how this would look, they decide to hide the body in the boot of the car with the intention of burying the body later.
After continuing their journey, they run out of petrol in the middle of the Essex countryside. With nothing around for several miles, they seek help from a nearby cottage, where the solo occupier Miss Perkins (Michelle Archer) offers them somewhere to stay until the local gardener returns to help. No phones, no help and a dead body in the car. Things may seem bad now, but they don’t realise it’s going to get worse.

Last month we brought you news on the forthcoming remake of the former video nasty Unhinged, which UK distributor 88 Films, along with ITN Distribution have picked up for a release in the fourth quarter of this year on DVD and VOD. The film comes from Proportion Productions, a new UK filmmaking shingle who have been churning out films such as Fox Trap, 12 Deaths of Christmas and The House on Elm Lake – all of which are due for DVD and VOD release worldwide sometime in October/November – with Unhinged marking the directorial feature debut of Dan Allen, who won the ‘Best Young Filmmaker’ award at the Coca-Cola Cinemagic Film Festival back in 2009.
Unhinged stars a bevy of British talent, including Kate Lister, Lucy Jane-Quinlan, Becky Fletcher, Louisa Warren – may of whom have appeared in other Proportion Productions output.
The official synopsis:
Four American girls travel through the backlands in North England travelling to a funeral.

Unhinged was one of many movies in the early 80s to find itself tangled up in the video nasties scandal here in the UK… However, unlike a lot of its “nasty” brethren, the film was less controversial, actualy playing more ike a traditional slasher movie than a gore-filled monstrosity. Which is why the film has since been re-released, without cuts; as most recently as 2014, when then-burgeoning UK distributor 88 Films put out the film on DVD.
Now I mention 88 Films as they, along with ITN Distribution have picked up a Remake, yes remake, of the former video nasty for a release on DVD and VOD this year. But wait, I hear you ask, who’s behind this remake? Well…
