According to executive producer Dean English, Warrior Nun is getting a second chance in the form of a trilogy of movies.
Starring Alba Baptista, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner, Tristán Ulloa, Thekla Reuten, Sylvia De Fanti, and William Miller, Warrior Nun is based on the graphic novel by Ben Dunn. The supernatural series follows a young woman who wakes up to find herself fighting demons as part of a secret organization.
The drama series was cancelled last December after a two-season run on Netflix. In June, series creator and showrunner Simon Barry revealed that the series was being revived, but he didn’t release any details.

The American fantasy drama series ‘Warrior Nun’ is now being resurrected and brought back from the grave after it got killed following its two season run. It will be released as a trilogy of films, as revealed by the show’s executive producer Dean English.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sometime in end of July, series creator Simon Barry credited an intense fan campaign to revive the show after its cancellation: “Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts — Warrior Nun will return and is going to be more Epic than you could imagine. More details to come! Soon! Thank you!!”
Nonetheless, not a whole lot of details are available at the moment. The sources at THR reported shortly after Barry’s tweet that the resurrection of ‘Warrior Nun’ wouldn’t be returning to its old home, Netflix.

Back in December, it was announced that Warrior Nun, a live-action series loosely based on Ben Dunn’s manga-style comic book Warrior Nun Areala, had been cancelled after a two season run on the Netflix streaming service. Then a couple months ago, series creator Simon Barry revealed that fans’ #SaveWarriorNun campaign was resulting in the show getting an epic revival. We assumed that meant Warrior Nun season 3, possibly on Netflix, possibly at a different network or streaming service. But now executive producer Dean English has taken to the WarriorNunSaved website to clarify that Warrior Nun is actually being revived with a trilogy of feature films!
English wrote, “I’m the person who found the graphic novel and asked the dangerous question of, “What if?” First of all, I need to start by thanking all of you loyal fans. It’s because of you and your incredible energy that we keep...

A fan campaign to save a Netflix show actually worked: according to The Hollywood Reporter, the previously canceled 2020 series "Warrior Nun" is set to be resurrected with three feature films. This news comes just weeks after series creator Simon Barry teased some type of return for the fantasy story, though THR reports that he noted it won't come from Netflix. "Warrior Nun" follows a young woman who wakes up after dying with new abilities that land her in the middle of an ongoing battle between heaven and hell. In a new video posted to the website Warrior Nun Saved, executive producer Dean English noted that the trilogy could also launch a "Warrior Nun" universe, which he says "could expand into film and TV series following characters that we already know."
The show's second season, released in 2022, was thought to be the last, but as with many a show that's ended...

When shows get cancelled by one network, they often have a chance to find a new home. Sometimes it doesn’t work out (I was surprised The Winchesters wasn’t able to find a new home after being cancelled by The CW), sometimes it does… And apparently Warrior Nun, a live-action series loosely based on Ben Dunn’s manga-style comic book Warrior Nun Areala, is one of the success stories. It was announced back in December that Warrior Nun had been cancelled after two seasons on the Netflix streaming service, but now series creator Simon Barry has revealed that season 3 is going to happen – and he says it’s going to be an epic revival!
Barry shared the news on Twitter, saying, “Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts – #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more Epic than you could imagine.

Warrior Nun is an action/fantasy/adventure series created by Simon Barry starring Alba Baptista.
This series for young adults is showing signs of being a success, having been granted its second season. It is based on the comic ‘Warrior Nun Areala’ by Ben Dunn, who has also written God’s Silver Soldiers backup stories: Tales of Nazareth: The Boyhood of Jesus, thematically close to that in the series.
Warrior Nun Premise
After waking up in a morgue, Ava, a quadriplegic orphaned teen discovers she is the chosen one, the Halo-Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns.
About the Series
A quite well produced series, in which various genres merge. It has action, fantasy, sci-fi and drama.
So, if you are seeking something down to earth and serious, the title is a definite give away that that is not what you will find in this series. There is a lot of action,...

Warrior Nun Season 2 is officially in the works at Netflix, allowing Ava and the rest of the Order of the Cruciform Sword to carry on in their increasingly-murky war against demonkind and other deceitful celestials.
Netflix took a more personal approach to its renewal announcement for Warrior Nun by posting a Covid-era-indicative video conference conducted by showrunner Simon Barry and cast members Alba Baptista, Toya Turner, Lorena Andrea, Kristina Tonteri-Young and Olivia Delcan. While seemingly held under the pretense of reflecting on happy memories of the show’s spring 2019 shoot, Barry is shown dropping the renewal news to the bunch in a cheeky, trolling fashion.

Warrior Nun has been another hit for Netflix. The adaptation of Ben Dunn’s long-running comic series was met with a very positive critical reaction and a second (and possibly third) season is now in the pipeline. Particular praise was reserved for Alba Baptista’s lead performance as the divinely super-powered Ava Silva, as well as the kick-ass fight choreography.
Details on the second season are thin on the ground right now and it won’t start filming until the Coronavirus pandemic has receded, but we’ve heard from our sources – the same ones who told us Extraction is getting a sequel and that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would be delayed, both of which were correct – that the show is set to take the characters in an interesting direction. Apparently, Ava Silva will come out as bisexual in season 2 and have a relationship with Kristina Tonteri-Young’s Sister Beatrice.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched Season 1 of “Warrior Nun,” streaming now on Netflix.
There’s a ton of mythology to unpack over the first 10 episodes of Netflix’s female-centric “Warrior Nun,” from a magical angel halo and demonic presences to a young quadriplegic woman named Ava (Alba Baptista) who is brought back from the dead. Add in religion, politics, complex friendships, and a tech-savvy enemy in the form of Jillian Salvius (Thekla Reuten), and creator Simon Barry had his work cut out for him.
“There’s this double-edge opportunity with religion when it comes to storytelling, especially with shows like this that deal with genre and supernatural elements, because religion is an amazing backstop for mythology,” Barry tells Variety. “It’s a mythology that everybody knows — I don’t have to educate the audience on the stakes of demons, and angels in heaven, and hell,...

We’ve seen nuns kill a gospel medley, but not a bad guy. Fighting demons and assorted baddies isn’t exactly new, but doing it in a full habit is something we haven’t seen on television before. Buffy and the Winchesters take two different approaches to fighting evil, but Warrior Nun answers the question of what happens when we weaponize women of the faith.
