Exclusive: Peacock has picked up sports documentary Mission to Burnley. Check out a trailer below.
Sky’s series follows the fortunes of Burnley F.C. across the course of a season, as the club bid to secure promotion from the second tier of English football back to the world-famous Premier League under manager Vincent Kompany. Founded in 1882, Burnley is one of the oldest professional football clubs in the UK and is located in the north of England in a town which can claim to be one of the smallest to have ever hosted a club in the game’s top tier.
Having aired on Sky earlier this year, the doc will launch on Peacock later this month, and Banijay Rights negotiated the Peacock deal. UK sports docs have been growing in popularity with U.S. audiences, with Disney+’s Welcome to Wrexham about Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Welsh...

London, May 27 (Ians) Erling Haaland was named the Premier League’s Player of the Season on Saturday, after a record-breaking debut campaign in which he helped Manchester City claim their third straight league title.
The 22-year-old scored 36 goals in 35 games this season, breaking the previous record of 34 for a single Premier League season set by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer in 42-match Premier League campaigns.
Only Dixie Dean, for Everton in 1927/28, has scored more goals across all competitions (63) in a top-flight English season than Haaland’s 52.
The Norwegian is also the first player in the Premier League to score hat-tricks in three successive home matches, and the first Man City player to score a Manchester derby hat-trick since 1970.
Haaland becomes the third successive Man City player, and fourth overall, to claim the accolade, after Kevin De Bruyne in 2019-20 and 2021-22, while Ruben Dias took the honour in 2020-21. Vincent Kompany was the first,...

Amazon Prime Video premiered its original sports documentary series “All or Nothing: Manchester City” in Manchester, England Wednesday. The first episode of the series, which focuses on the English soccer champions, was screened in the presence of the whole Manchester City squad and its coach, Pep Guardiola, who previously coached Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Among those watching the series for the first time were global soccer stars Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne.
The series, which launches worldwide Friday, follows in the footsteps of the Emmy-winning “All or Nothing” NFL series, and subsequent shows that zeroed in on the New Zealand national rugby team, the All Blacks, and college football team the Michigan Wolverines.
Before the first episode was shown, Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was interviewed on-stage by BBC sports show host Gabby Logan. The Belgian star said he was feeling nervous as he waited to watch the documentary.

Manchester City are set to enter a new era this summer when the most sought-after manager in world football, Pep Guardiola, arrives at the club.
However, the City squad is in dire need of an overhaul, and this is set to be Guardiola’s most difficult job to date.
Pellegrini currently has the second oldest squad in the Premier League available to him, behind West Brom, and Guardiola will need to bring in a host of new players to enhance the squad and replace certain players who are now past their sell by date.
There are two clear problems that the current Bayern Munich boss must address: centre back and centre midfield.
When captain Vincent Kompany is not in the side, the Manchester City defence is nothing short of a shambles. No matter what combination of Nicolas Otamendi, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis is sent out by Pellegrini,...

Buying and selling, wheeling and dealing, the transfer market is the finest aspect of Football Manager. Snapping up a cut-price star is as satisfying as any trophy the game can offer, and while the AI-controlled league around you blasts money for the biggest current stars, the key to success is signing your title-winning team 5 years in advance.
Centre backs should be the base of your team. They are the platform you should build everything on, meaning that the right partnership is essential. There are ball-players, there are total tacticians, and there are brutish powerhouses who love nothing more than to wrap a rocket boot around the ball to prevent any danger.
You won’t find Gerard Pique, Vincent Kompany, Diego Godin, or Sergio Ramos here, but you will find the next generation of stars. The following centre backs are all aged 21 or younger, meaning they...

With surprisingly little news coming out of Manchester this transfer window in terms of transfers, the biggest news on Man City fan’s lips has been Pep Guardiola, as the manager was confirmed to be joining the club in the summer when he leaves Bayern Munich.
And hot on the tail of that news comes a big indication of what City fans might be able to expect when he takes over control, with rumours that he wants to spend £130m shoring up City’s defensive options for next season.
According to the Mail, Guardiola wants to bring in £80m rated Paul Pogba from Juventus and £50m rated England defender John Stones from Everton.
Clearly, money is not a problem for Man City – they’re set to pay the Spaniard £300,000 a week – and that spending spree would be a major statement of intent as City look to...

Given the deflated feelings and irritated grumbles coming out of the blue half of Manchester this season, you’d be forgiven for thinking that their season was all but over. However, going into the last 18 games of the season, they find themselves only 3 points behind leaders Arsenal. What’s more, those two tiny specs in their rear-view mirror are actually Chelsea and rivals United.
January’s important for every club, but it feels absolutely crucial for Manchester City. The positivity that followed the expensive summer acquisitions of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling has been off tempered by a catalogue of defensive calamities and, worst of all, the revelation that Sergio Aguero’s hamstrings are apparently made of nothing but glass and chewing gum.
With the impeding departure of Manuel Peliggrini, the club looks to be heading towards a painful era of torch-passing.

On Saturday January 16th, title chasing Manchester City welcomed out-of-form Crystal Palace to a snowy Etihad Arena for a game that could see City go top, at least for a few hours, with a win. Man City’s form had been patchy over the last few weeks and, after dropping two points against Everton in their recent midweek fixture, they would be looking to get back to winning ways.
Palace would be looking to end a miserable run of four games without a goal and two consecutive losses against a side they have never beaten away in the Premier League. Palace’s loss against Aston Villa was widely regarded as their worst performance under Alan Pardew and he would be looking for a response from his side.
The previous meeting at Selhurst in September ended in a 1-0 win for City after Kelechi Iheanacho came off...

Media Handling: 100%. Loyalty To Players: 100%. Financial Control: 100%. Domestic Player Bias: 1%.
Ever since your life was greatly enhanced by Football Manager’s presence, you’ll have grappled with hotbeds of football. They could be continents, regions, or specific nations that yielded immense crops of players year-in year-out. We were all baffled around the 2008 mark when Belgium suddenly turned into the place to be, with Anthony Vanden Borre, Olivier Deschacht, and a young Vincent Kompany rising up from obscurity to become absolute world-beaters.
In recent years, Argentina has spawned some unbelievable talents for pennies, and pretty much everyone will have their own preference for where to go for their shopping. However, it’s very rare that anyone looks in their own back garden to secure the hottest young world talents without even leaving England.
In the real world, it’s common knowledge that a young English starlet will...
