SALVATORE CASCIO
Biography
Salvatore Cascio is a Sound Engineer, drummer, and composer. Sal was born in Palermo (Italy). At his early age after he finished his academic studies at the Scientific High School of Palermo he started to work as sound engineer. In 2004 he decided to improve his audio skills and he graduated at SAE International Technology College of Milan where he also gained his practical knowledge working as sound engineer is various clubs and concert venues of the city. Very soon he started to collaborate with various music festival around Italy such as Lario R'n'B jazz festival; it was in that time that he followed Tullio De Piscopo in his Italian tour with the Pummarola Blues Band. Besides his talent for live music he also worked as boom operator for various filming production companies such as Panorama Film Production (Palermo, Italy), Wrp Production (Los Angeles, US), Rai, MTV and ("The Amazing Race") an American acclaimed reality show filmed in Sicily. Next step was collaborating with the most important local post-production studios (Next Media Lab - Sede - Dream&Dream). In 2006 Sal met Michele D'anca and very soon he joined his laboratory: Michele D'anca is a craftsman that makes precious audio analog gear starting from the layout of a printed circuit board to the design of the front cover. With Michele, Sal gained specific knowledge about electro technical elements and the analog signal flow. In 2007 Salvatore started to collaborate with Bach Recording Studio as Sound Engineer recording some tunes for Tullio De Piscopo's new album "Bona Jurnata".In the same year he started the collaboration with the "Accademia Del Suono" in Milan. In 2009 Salvatore moved back to Palermo to teach Digital Audio Processing and Acoustic in a professional course. Later when he moved back again to Milan, he became resident Sound Engineer at ADC Group, working for the major Italian broadcasting network. In 2010 he started working as an independent recording engineer, mixing and mastering different musical projects where he was also involved as drummer and/or composer. In Italy, Sal collaborates with various Italian bands for both studio recording and live sound engineering (Giovanni Sollima, Luca Pincini, Retrospective For Love, Davide "Shorty" Sciortino, Laura Campisi, Cum Moenia, MezzGacano, Kali Yuga, Airport, Davide Mezzatesta, Marco Monterosso, Forsqueack, Gente Strana Posse,Utveggi, Pan del Diavolo, Francesco Leineri, Giovanni di Giandomenico, The Bass Quartet, Alessio Pianelli, Sara Calvanelli, Cosmosaics, Granpa, Hi-gloo n.7, Manomanca, Tunaman, and many others).
In 2013 Sal decided to move to New York City where he actually lives and works for some of the biggest name in Terms of music Venues and he also started to collaborate as Free Lance Sound engineer for some Companies and Studios .
Sal is also the co-founder of Yes/se:f, an electronic music duo featuring Fabrizio Fortunato (Palermo, Italy). Yes/se:f performs its original compositions in both New York City and Europe.
