Good news for fans of Orphan Black. A new Orphan Black series is in early development at AMC, Deadline has learned.
Temple St. Productions, which produced the original series, is on board to produce the series, which we hear is not a reboot or spinoff, but will be a new story set in the Orphan Black universe.
Orphan Black, which helped put BBC America on the original scripted series map as its first homegrown hit, aired for five seasons. It starred Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany as multiple clones in the Peabody Award-winning series that all started on a train platform. A troubled woman, Beth Childs (Maslany), locked eyes with an unknown identical woman, Sarah Manning (Maslany), before jumping to her death. From that day on, they were inextricably linked to a clone conspiracy that came to rule Sarah’s life. The cast also included Ari Millen, Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy,...

“Orphan Black” goes into its final season with nothing to prove.
After all, it followed up its rockiest storyline with the Castor clones with an excellent fourth season, it earned universal critical acclaim, and star Tatiana Maslany landed a well-deserved Emmy for her breakout role. That’s not too shabby for a show with a fierce but small viewership. Because of that, the series is free to do exactly what it wants and does so well: let the sestras lead.
With all the clone hijinks and amazing performances by Maslany, it’s sometimes forgotten that “Orphan Black” is one of the most feminist shows on TV, and not just because most of its main characters are female. From the beginning, the show broke down gender stereotypes and featured women in all of the powerful roles, letting them have complex identities independent of their relationship to men.

Twelve hours ago Orphan Black co-creator John Fawcett tweeted "The end is near," which many fans took as a sign of the end of Season 4 but today BBC America announced the big news. Orphan Black will return for Season 5 next year which will also be its last. Clone Club is bound to be shocked by the news. The BBC America series launched to rave critical and fan reviews when it began back in 2013. The series stars Tatiana Maslany as a series of clones in what is not only a technical but tremendous acting achievement. Layers have been peeled back each season revealing more clones for Maslany to master as well as depths of conspiracy and betrayal. The series is fantastic at covering both fantastical as well as real-world science, what it means to be family, sexuality, gender, and more. Co-creators Fawcett and Graeme Manson released a shared statement: “We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters. The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure, and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show. We are thankful to our partners at Temple Street, and to BBC America and Space for their support and giving us the opportunity to end on a high.” “When we embarked upon this journey with John and Graeme, we knew we had something special on our hands, but didn’t imagine how deeply it would resonate with audiences and the worldwide acclaim it would receive. We are truly in awe of Tatiana, who, each season, pulls off the impossible and brings each clone and their unique personalities to life in an extraordinarily captivating way,” said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, Executive Producers of Orphan Black and Co-Presidents of Boat Rocker Studios. “We are so proud of the cast and crew, who will be on this final ride with us as we draw the Orphan Black story to a close, and extremely thankful to our partners at BBC America and Space for their continued support, as well as the legions of fans who have made these five seasons possible." Orphan Black received a Peabody Award in 2014, and Maslany received a 2015 Emmy nomination for Best Actress, two Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Actress, a TCA Award for Individual Achievement, a Young Hollywood Award, a Gracie Award, two Canadian Screen Awards and Golden Globe, SAG and People’s Choice nominations. Here's hoping more wise up to her outstanding talent. While Maslany fills out a significant portion of the cast, she's joined by the talented Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kristian Bruun, Skyler Wexler, Kevin Hanchard, Ari Millen, Evelyne Brochu and Josh Vokey. I'm gutted to hear next season will be the last, but I'm also thankful the show will be able to go out on its own terms and have time to wrap up the story in a satisfying way. And frankly, it also gives fans time to come to terms with the end, something not a lot of fan-favorite shows get the opportunity to do these days. Temple Street will be producing ten episodes for BBC America (and Space in Canada) for Season 5. Season 4's finale airs tonight, Thursday, June 16th at 10/9c.

As the world of "Orphan Black" expanded this season to host a cavalcade of new antagonists, including a male set of clones, the focus remained on Tatiana Maslany and the various female clones she portrayed. This decision was certainly to the benefit of the series which otherwise could have gotten tangled up in its own mythology and easily lost sight of what made the show great in the first place. The third season finale, "History Yet to Be Written", keeps Sarah, Helena, Cosima, and Alison front and center and is all the more satisfying for it. Season finales have a difficult tightrope to walk. If you picked this week to get on board with "Orphan Black", you picked a good one. In what is easily the best episode of the third season, we get huge stakes, big character shifts, dream sequences, answers to a few mysteries, and an explosion to top it all off. Helena (Tatiana Maslany) gets the least to do in the episode but the decision she comes to is an important one. After abandoning Sarah at the Castor camp last week to ensure her own escape, she makes the only choice she really could and comes back for Sarah. Luckily for Sarah, it's not a moment too soon. Sarah is run through the emotional ringer in this episode and experiences two separate, very intense, dream sequences, each offering dramatic insight into what continues to drive her emotionally. We've started to accept it as a given that Sarah is tenacious and will...

Orphan Black, Season 3, Episode 2, “Transitory Sacrifices of Crisis”
Written by Aubrey Nealon
Directed by John Fawcett
Airs Saturdays at 9pm (Et) on BBC America
After the underwhelming season three premiere, “Transitory Sacrifices of Crisis” is encouraging, moving what appears to be the crucial arc for the season, the introduction of Project Castor and the CastorClones, towards more interesting territory. While the two main CastorClones featured this week remain Bad Moustache Clone and Fauxhawk Clone, they’re given names and briefly, motivation. Seth (Bmc) is sick, a short circuit in his brain causing searing pain and Rudy (Fc) is protective of his brother, certain Seth will be put down if they return to base as they’ve been ordered. It’s not much, but this is far more characterization than Ari Millen has been given to work with either last season or in the season three premiere (aside from Creepy Cult Clone,...

[Warning: This story contains spoilers from Orphan Black's "Transitory Sacrifices of Crisis" episode.] Sarah's (Tatiana Maslany) tug-of-war between her immediate family unit versus trying to protect her "sisters" took a dramatic turn during Saturday's Orphan Black. During last week's season three premiere, Sarah made the decision to push away Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) for turning in Cosima, even though it was done in an attempt to keep Kira (Skyler Wexler) safe. Unfortunately, Mrs. S' decision didn't yield results for as long as they hoped, and in this week's episode, Kira's life was put in jeopardy when male

In an exclusive sneak peek at Saturday's episode, we see that Helena is in more danger than ever as she is tortured by her captors. Leading the charge is the as-yet-unnamed Project Castor clone we first met in the tail end of season 2.

BBC America knows how to tantalise its legions of dedicated Orphan Black fans. Ahead of the show’s season 3 premiere next month the network continues to drop images, clips, and trailers followed by more images, more clips and more trailers. It’s a never-ending cycle of teasing that’s refreshingly spoiler-free. That being said, if you haven’t seen all of season 2 then we strongly advise watching all of it now, then returning to this page afterwards.
Today, the newest piece of the preview puzzle has arrived in the shape of a new trailer. Titled “The Wolf Pack” the brief preview hones in on the major threat of season 3 – Project Castor’s assembly of male clones.
For those who need a quick recap here goes. At the end of the last season Sarah and her sisterhood of ‘genetic identicals’ came face-to-face with yet another shocking truth. They weren’t the only clones in existence.

The season 2 finale of BBC America’s Orphan Black ended on a tantalizing cliffhanger: in addition to the clone sisterhood, there’s also a squad of male genetic identicals. Now, thanks to the network’s recent trailer drop, there’s a chance to witness exactly how Sarah Manning and her Project Leda sisters intend to deal with this new threat.
The militarized males of Project Castor don’t appear to be quite as loveable as the female clones we’ve all grown to know and love across two seasons. Played with a varied vehemence by Ari Miller, this new squad were designed, created and raised together to form a cohesive unit. In short; they’re nothing like Sarah, Cosima, Alison and Helena. Although, to be fair, there’s no-one quite like Helena.
