Universal has moved its Robert Downey Jr movie The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle from its original April 12, 2019 release date to January 17, 2020, which is the four-day Mlk weekend.
This is also in an effort to capitalize on early winter rolling vacations overseas; not to mention, Q1 has served as a great play period for family fare including Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle holdover business, which generated close to 60% of its $404.5 million domestic box office after Christmas, not to mention other titles like Disney’s Moana and Fox’s Night at the Museum 1 and 3, which legged out overseas in the January play period.
Dolittle was originally following in the wake of the first weekend of New Line’s Shazam! and on its new date faces Warner Bros’ Just Mercy and possibly Sony’s Bad Boys 3.

Paramount Pictures has been in and out of development on this big screen adaptation of Matt Helm for about a decade. Bradley Cooper has been attached to the project, which is an adaptation of Don Hamilton's spy novel series, since 2008. The project is now moving forward again with a new screenwriter named Tom Shepherd, who recently wrote the script for Robert Downey Jr.'s The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.
There's also a lot of heavy hitting talent attached to this film project that includes George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci who are all attached as executive producers. Steven Spielberg, who was attached to direct the film years ago, is also still involved in some capacity.
There are 27 Matt Helm novels total that started with Death of a Citizen in the 1960s to the final book in the series The Damagers, which was published in 1993. The story follows a U.

Screenwriter Tom Shepherd is reporting for duty.
Shepherd will pen a script for a Matt Helm movie for Paramount, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The film has Bradley Cooper attached to star as the character first introduced in late author Donald Hamilton's series of spy novels, which he published from 1960-93 over 27 volumes.
Helm is a counter-assassination agent whose mission is to stop spies from other countries. Dean Martin played the character in a series of 1960s spoof films, while Tony Franciosa stepped into his shoes for a short-lived ABC drama from 1975-76. In the novels, Helm is drawn into his...

Believe or not, this is not the only Agatha Christie-centric action adventure film currently in Hollywood development...
Did you know that there is currently not one, but two adventure films about crime novelist Agatha Christie in development?
The more breaking news is that Columbia Pictures is working on developing a script from Tom Shepherd called simply Agatha Christie, with Roth Kirschenbaum Films signed on to produce. According to The Tracking Board, the action-adventure film is being pitched as 'Sherlock Holmes meets The Thomas Crown Affair'. But starring Agatha Christie. Um, where can I sign a petition to make sure this happens?
The plot of the film would revolve around a young (because of course), adventurous Christie teaming up with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (because of course) to track down a missing oil tycoon (because of course?). Will they find him? Will they fall in love in the process?...
