Although Annabeth Gish made an appearance as Agent Monica Reyes in the last years six-episode revival of The X-Files, her former partner, Agent John Doggett (Robert Patrick), was nowhere to be found. Once an expanded 11th season of The X-Files was announced by Fox, it was hoped that Robert Patrick would finally get the chance to return, especially as he had previously seemed interested in rejoining... We’re now a little over a week since The X-Files concluded its long-awaited tenth season. In only six episodes, it managed to hit some wonderful highs and disappointing lows, but the thrill of seeing Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder back on the small screen was palpable all the way through.
Throughout its brief run, the newest season also featured the return of original X-Files characters Walter Skinner, the evil Cigarette Smoking Man, Monica Reyes, and – all too fleetingly – the lovable Lone Gunmen. With the series’ future pretty bright once more and new episodes seemingly a lock somewhere down the line, it’s hard not to look back at the original nine seasons of the series and wonder who else could return, from some of the duo’s fellow FBI agents to friends and foes alike whose fates are still left dangling since we last saw them.

My Struggle II represents some pretty significant new territory for The X-Files. The action in this series has always taken place in the shadows, on the edges of human experience and civilization. Taking advantage of the huge cultural and geographical spread across America (even if much of it came out looking like Vancouver), the series took us to isolated backwaters, desert landscapes, dark forests, deep lakes and the dark corners of the underbelly of cities, or even further in, to people’s homes, their bedrooms, their living rooms, and in one memorable instance, underneath an escalator in a shopping mall. Nothing on The X-Files ever happened out in the open; we were always literally and metaphorically in the dark, with the vast majority of...

Warning, spoilers abound in our chat with The X-Files creator Chris Carter about the season finale of the drama's Fox revival, and what's to come should we get more episodes in the future. Things ended on a big cliffhanger: the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) had started to end the world with Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish) sort of under his thumb. A review of tonight's The X-Files finale — and thoughts on the revival as a whole — coming up just as soon as I've sequenced my own genome... Chris Carter created The X-Files. He created Mulder and Scully. He cast Duchovny and Anderson. He dreamed up the mythology, and the Monster of the Week structure that alternated with it. He hired Glen Morgan, James Wong, Frank Spotnitz, Vince Gilligan, Darin Morgan, Howard Gordon, and everyone else who walked through that writers room. Chris Carter is responsible for so much that made The X-Files an all-time classic. Chris Carter should also never write or direct another episode of the show, assuming the actors agree to return for another abbreviated season. Of the revival's six episodes, one was great ("Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster"), one was very good ("Home Again"), one was mediocre at best ("Founder's Mutation"), and three were awful. What do...

Season 10’s sixth and final episode, “My Struggle II,” once more examined Scully and Mulder’s run-in with the powerful men who want to destroy the world. The backdrop for the angst on this go-around: a nationwide epidemic in which ordinary citizens fell ill to a mysterious, quick-moving and really disgusting sickness.

According to Annabeth Gish, getting back into the mindset of her “X-Files” character Monica Reyes was easy as could be. “It was like slipping back into a pair of comfortable shoes,” Gish told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell at TheWrap Studios. “I love the character, and I love the cast and the crew. It’s a family, so it felt really good to go back.” Gish first appeared on “The X-Files” beginning with the 2001 episode “This Is Not Happening,” in which Agent Reyes helps Agent Doggett (Robert Patrick) investigating the sudden reappearance of several UFO abductees. She stayed with the series until it concluded.

[Originally appeared in Deadly Magazine #5] In 1993, The X-Files premiered on Fox, forever changing genre television, and after 20 years, its influence is still felt. No series since The X-Files has even come close to creating such incredibly nuanced and compelling storytelling than what Chris Carter’s series delivered each week for nine seasons.
What made The X-Files so remarkable was that it hit the ground running from its first episode and maintained that momentum. While Seasons 8 and 9 aren’t remembered fondly by fans, I’d argue that the storytelling still remained strong until the series finale in May 2002.
Known generally for its overarching alien and governmental conspiracy plots, The X-Files always managed to find clever and unusual ways to celebrate so many horror and sci-fi tropes, much like its predecessors (The Twilight Zone and Kolchak: The Night Stalker influenced Carter when he was first conceiving the series in the early ’90’s.)

Now that the return of The X-Files is upon us, it’s the perfect time to revisit all nine seasons and 202 episodes* of the original series before we’re thrust back into the world of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully (and Walter Skinner and John Doggett and, yes, Monica Reyes). In the ’90s, there was no better place to get a dose of conspiracy paranoia and nutty sci-fi, not to mention butterflies in your stomach watching David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson’s tension build. At its heart, the series was about confronting the darkness within ourselves — you know, the crippling doubt of the unknown, the fear of what’s to come. It just used aliens and monsters to explore that in a way that decades later, still resonates with viewers. As a refresher course for the series we all fell in love with, and then slowly fell out of love...

Fox debuted the first full-length trailer last night, in two parts, during episodes of "Gotham" and "Minority Report." “The truth is still out there,” announces this all-new trailer for Fox’s upcoming the revival of The X-Files. And from the look of all the footage we’re given in this full, two-minute video, which debuted Monday night on Fox, it sure seems like The X-Files is still as engrossing as ever. The trailer (which you can watch below) primarily focuses on David Duchovny’s Fox Mulder, who warns that “we’ve never been in more danger.” And that danger is what has Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) worried for her old partner’s safety, even though he tells her that he knows what’s he’s doing. In addition to Anderson and Duchovny reprising their roles as Scully and Mulder, Mitch Pileggi, who also makes an appearance in the trailer, is set to return as Walter Skinner in The X-Files, and Annabeth Gish will be back as Agent Monica Reyes as well.

Annabeth Gish will also return to The X-Files, joining Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny for the new event series…
For a time, it looked like we’d only be seeing David Duchovny’s Mulder, Gillian Anderson’s Scully and Mitch Pileggi’s Walter Skinner returning for The X-Files event series. Recently though, The Lone Gunmen joined the fold, and now Annabeth Gish has followed suit.
Gish will reprise her role as Agent Monica Reyes, a character who became fairly central towards the end of The X-Files’ original run. If you’re not an X-Files fan, you might also recognise Annabeth Gish from The West Wing, where she played the eldest daughter of President Bartlett. More recently, she's appeared in Sons Of Anarchy, Pretty Little Liars and The Bridge.

Annabeth Gish will reprise her role of FBI Agent Monica Reyes for one episode of Fox's upcoming event series revival of "The X-Files".
Gish's character first appeared in the show's eighth season as a recurring guest star and became a regular cast member during the final season.

Annabeth Gish is officially reprising her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes in an upcoming episode of Fox’s “The X-Files” event series, the network announced Tuesday. Gish first appeared on “The X-Files” beginning with the 2001 episode “This Is Not Happening,” in which Agent Reyes helps Agent Doggett (Robert Patrick) investigating the sudden reappearance of several UFO abductees. She stayed with the series until it concluded in 2002. Gish co-starred on FX’s “The Bridge” opposite Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir in 2013 and recently shot the independent feature “Grass Stains” opposite Tye Sheridan and Kaitlyn Dever. Last year, she had a recurring role on.

The short run of new X-Files episodes planned for early next year is becoming something of a reunion, with a variety of old faces from the show’s original run popping up. Even some we all thought were dead. You can add FBI Agent Monica Reyes, played by Annabeth Gish to the list, with word that she’s on for an episode. Reyes, alongside partner John Doggett (Robert Patrick, who has not been mentioned as returning – yet) appeared on the show in the final couple of seasons, taking over the main workload from David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully, particularly after Duchovny left the show towards the end. They were controversial additions to a series that fans were already worried was disappearing into its own mythology, but it’ll still be good to see Reyes back and catch up with the character who, like Mulder, was a believer in all things paranormal.

Fans of FBI honcho Walter Skinner – Which Is Everyone – rejoice. The gruff-voiced desk warrior will be back for more testy teamwork with the frustrating maverick Fox Mulder and growling about how his ass is in a sling. Like they were ever going to do it without him.Very happy to announce that Walter Skinner will once again be getting all grumpy and bitchy with his two wayward kids. Very happy.— Mitch Pileggi (@MitchPileggi1) April 20, 2015If you’re organising some kind of alien conspiracy, be warned: Skinner (and his ass-sling) will there and deeply cranky when the show returns to Fox on a limited-run basis. Filming is scheduled to get underway this summer, with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson back as Mulder and Dana Scully respectively. The Lone Gunmen-style scuttlebutt is that Cigarette-Smoking Man, Aka William B. Davis, Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish) and John Doggett (Robert Patrick) will also return,...

It looks like David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson aren't the only familiar faces from "The X-Files" that are coming back for the six-episode event series revival.
Appearing on David Letterman's show this week, Duchovny was asked if another other of the original cast will be back. The actor said: "There's Gillian and I, we're original. Mitch Pileggi (Skinner) will come back, and the Cigarette-Smoking Man - if that means anything to anyone - will be coming back."
That's not the only report today as TV Wise says Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick are slated to return as special agents Monica Reyes and John Doggett, but the site adds that no deals are in place yet.
Filming on "The X-Files" revival shoots this summer in Vancouver.

I started this rewatch with one purpose, to find out if this final season was as bad as I remembered. The X-Files had enjoyed a fairly sizable audience for most of its run, but fan’s jumped ship in droves during the airing of this final season. Was it simply because of X-Files fatigue? Had the show gone on too long? Was Mulder that big of a draw that the show couldn’t thrive without him?
After watching the nineteen episodes that make up season nine…I might have an answer. Continue reading to find out more, see the complete scoreboard for season nine, and the final score for the season on a whole.
First off I’d like to say thank you to everyone who read these and shared them, it made me feel a bit better knowing I didn’t have to go through it alone.

If I’ve learned one thing from this re-watch of season 9 of The X-Files it’s this, I really love John Doggett. His character brings so much to the series that without him, I can’t help but feel as though this final season would have been even worse. Of course it’s only appropriate that they would give him his own episode to wrap up the most important Doggett storyline…the death of his son Luke.
The death of Doggett’s son prior to him joining of the FBI was the source of his anger and desire for justice, similar to the abduction of Mulder’s sister being the source of his search for truth. Some might say Doggett’s story is a little too close to that but I don’t think so, his is a different kind of drive and Robert Patrick never fails to sell us on Doggett’s grief.

This episode is an awkward one. I do get what they were trying to do, the show was trying to reinvent itself so that it could hopefully continue for another 10 years as The New X-Files with John Doggett and Monica Reyes as our leads. This first episode almost functions as a pilot for a new X-Files show. However the story feels bogged down with leftover conspiracy baggage from the previous years. How can we expect to grow fond of the “new team” when the shadow of the old one is hanging over everything?
Gillian Anderson had one more season left on her contract so they’ve slotted her into the “mentor” role. To be honest, as much as I love Dana Scully, it almost would have been better to have made a clean break and had Scully exit the same time Fox Mulder did.

December 22, 2012 has come and gone, but the clamour for a new X-Files movie is gathering serious pace.
Chris Carter has whispered about "putting the band back together" and has promised to "go back to the mythology", and what better way to celebrate than a Friday Fiver rounding up our top five episodes of the classic sci-fi series?
Squeeze
The opening double-header promised aliens and government conspiracy, but the moment we realised The X-Files was really something special came with the introduction of Eugene Victor Tooms (Doug Hutchison) as the stretchy, liver-quaffing, bad guy. With its Hannibal Lecter-leanings and nods to Stephen King's It, 'Squeeze' had us looking uneasily at every vent, pipe and crawlspace for the rest of our lives and earned a return for the character later that series in 'Tooms'.

In this, the latest and confirmed to be last season of 30 Rock, the show’s extraordinary writers have once again found a way to self-reflexively speak to the experience of guiding the journey to its end. Already aware going in that this will be their concluding chapter, they have decided to acknowledge a familiar, if disheartening truth about episodic television: that frequently it all ends as an embarrassing, turgid mess. Far too often a program that was once a joy, perhaps compromised by the lust for ratings and longevity, overstays its welcome, becoming little more than an unrecognisable shadow of its former glory. Thankfully 30 Rock itself is at no risk of fading away or tipping over into drivel, but rather – as it so frequently does in its rapid-fire wit and self-aware irony – is acknowledging and gleefully riffing on this sad truism.

Looks like Once Upon a Timeisn’t done yet with casting announcements (though they have to be running out of new roles by now!), now adding vet actress Annabeth Gish to the fold. Not only that, but Gish will be given a position of authority, leading a group of people who also happen to be wolves. Her name will be Anita and I’m not sure if her position means she will have some connection to the promoted Meghan Ory’s Ruby, who of course, seems to share a similar characteristic.
TVGuide brings the word that Gish’s Anita will appear in the 7th episode of the upcoming second season, an episode that should air on November 11th. Once Upon a Time season 2 kicks off on ABC this Sunday night (September 30th) with “Broken”. As I’m sure many people know, Gish has been in the biz for awhile, both in film and tv,...

The X-Files actress Annabeth Gish has won a guest role on Once Upon a Time. Gish will appear in season two's seventh episode, Entertainment Weekly reports. The 41-year-old has been cast on the fantasy drama as Anita, the mysterious leader of a pack of humans who have the ability to transform into wolves, like series regular Red (Meghan Ory). Gish is best known for playing Monica Reyes on The X-Files and for starring roles on The West Wing and Showtime drama Brotherhood. She recently played recurring roles on CSI and Pretty Little Liars and was also cast in ABC drama pilot Americana (more)...
