It’s the shock of seeing Norman Bates, knife in hand, clad in his mother’s clothes, grinning maniacally in the swinging lamplight. It’s the realization that Kevin Spacey spun us a bunch of lies, and was actually Keyser Söze the whole time. It’s finally connecting “I see dead people” with Bruce Willis being shot at the beginning of “The Sixth Sense.” When movies pull the rug from under us, it’s one of the greatest thrills that cinema can provide.

M. Night Shyamalan's Glass is the highly-anticipated next installment in a connected series that began with Unbreakable (above) and continued with Split. The movie started production in Philadelphia this week and the director marked the occasion by sharing a photo on social media (see below). Day 1: Seventeen years in the making. #Glass pic.twitter.com/La6X6alKgx — M. Night Shyamalan (@MNightShyamalan) October 2, 2017 Released 17 years ago, Unbreakable tells the story of David Dunn (Bruce Willis), an ordinary man who learns he has unusual powers. It also introduces Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), a man with fragile bones who feels he has an unusual role to play in David's life. In Split, we learn about Kevin (James McAvoy), a man with 23 distinct...

M. Night Shyamalan has begun production on the third film of the Unbreakable/ Split Universe titled Glass. Here’s all we have so far on the upcoming film.
Right off the bat I just want to say Spilt was fantastic. James McAvoy was so good in the role of Kevin Crumb a man with 24 different personalities one of which gives him super human abilities. The film then gave us an ending where it was revealed that Bruce Willis’s character from Unbreakable David Dunn also exists in this universe. And instantly I was back on board for that famous M. Night twist ending, well done sir.

Universal Pictures will handle domestic while Buena Vista International takes foreign on M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming Glass, the next chapter in his Unbreakable universe. Essentially Glass brings together the narratives Shyamalan started with 2000’s Unbreakable and this year’s Split. Like a lot of super villains Elijah Price is capable of great, unspeakable things. He has a charming way about him that people tend to lock on and he’s quite the character. His ability to capture the attention of others is owed largely to his charismatic way and the intelligence that makes him so interesting but also so very dangerous. In the beginning of the film he acts as a mentor to David Dunn and tries to convince him that the world is indeed ready for a superhero and that he is that hero. The problem is that Elijah is

It’s been a while but the sequel we always expected is going to be coming soon. M. Night Shyamlan’s follow up to Unbreakable will be making its way to theaters in 2019, and it’s bound to be something much more special than the first first film. Glass will be incorporating the character of Kevin Wendell Crumb to go along with David Dunn and Elijah Price. M. Night Shyamalan has being on one hell of a comeback lately, with The Visit and Split going a long way to erasing the memories of mega flops like After Earth, The Last Airbender, and (shudder) The Happening. With Split, the man known for his love of twists deliver quite a doozy, and if you’re unaware of how the multiple personality disorder themed psychological thriller panned out, consider this your spoiler warning: The movie was actually the long awaited sequel to 2000’s grounded superhero flick Unbreakable, with Bruce Willis returning as David Dunn, the blue collar worker impervious to harm, setting him on a quest to end the reign of James McAvoy’s Kevin, who is now in control of his 24 separate personalities, and has become a powerful, supernatural entity dubbed The Horde by the media. For years, many feared that M. Night Shyamalan’s best days were behind him. Since breaking onto the Hollywood scene with The Sixth Sense all those years ago, his career has been defined by triumphant highs (Unbreakable) and crushing lows (The Happening). However, it wasn’t long after the release of The Last Airbender in 2010 that Shyamalan quietly began to stage a comeback – and not a moment too soon.
After Earth aside, the back-to-back punch of The Visit and January’s psychological thriller Split has in many ways reinstated M. Night Shyamalan’s status as one of the most tenacious filmmakers working in the industry today. The latter went on to become a box office hit, too – $272 million worldwide, to be precise – spawning talk of a sequel that would, in turn, close out the trilogy once and for all. You’ve gotta hand it to M. Night Shyamalan. Even despite the beating he’s taken from critics over the years, the director never threw in the towel and now, he’s in the midst of a pretty exciting comeback. We’re going to go ahead and assume that at this point, you’ve seen Split. And even if you haven’t, you’ve no doubt heard all about how it’s actually a lead-in for the long-awaited Unbreakable 2. That’s because Bruce Willis makes a surprise cameo at the end as David Dunn, the main character from one of M. Night Shyamalan’s most celebrated films, Unbreakable. It was a twist that no one saw coming but now it’s all people can talk about, and with good reason.
The director has already confirmed that he is indeed pushing ahead with Unbreakable 2 and is currently hard at work on it. But one has to wonder: Split was released by Universal, while Touchstone Pictures (owned by Disney) hold the rights to Unbreakable, so just how did M. Night get around all the red tape and receive permission to use Dunn in his film?...

Warning: there be spoilers ahead if you haven't seen Split yet. M. Night Shyamalan's Split has turned into a genuine box office phenomenon, topping the charts for the third straight weekend. That in itself would no doubt prompt calls for a sequel, but the resolution of the movie suggested that writer/director Shyamalan had a followup in mind. As we've already reported, Kevin Wendle Crumb, the lead character in Split, was originally included in Shyamalan's script for Unbreakable, which introduced the heroic David Dunn (Bruce Willis) and the not-so-heroic Elijah Price (Samuel L. For the third week on the trot, Split held its place at the tip-top of the U.S. box office. A $14.15 million haul over Super Bowl weekend was enough to see off competition from F. Javier Gutiérrez’s Rings, and take the film’s worldwide total to a whopping $142 million. Not bad for a psychological thriller that cost an estimated $9 million to make.
But then again, Split isn’t your typical movie, and M. Night Shyamalan’s early plans for a sequel are a far cry from the age-old process of rinsing and repeating. As of February 4th, the prolific writer-director is in possession of an 11-page treatment for his Split sequel, and during a recent episode of Josh Horowitz’s HappySadConfused podcast – as relayed by Collider – Shyamalan touched base on his vision for the conclusive chapter.

Split is over a week old and that’s usually enough to disqualify a movie from coverage here. (This is the policy that keeps me from reviewing Blade 2 every six months in a vain attempt to force it in to the conversation for best superhero movie of all time.) But Split had a secret, and that secret didn’t get out until the movie had released and I had already watched the movie for last week. I’m going to talk about this secret right off the bat so if you have somehow avoided this piece of information I will tell you that Split is an excellent horror movie that might be a bit tame in the sheer terror aspects but is totally worth watching especially if you’ve liked M. Night Shyamalan’s works in the past. From here on it’s spoilers on; stop reading if you want that undisturbed experience.

Many people consider M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable to be the greatest comic book movie ever made that wasn’t actually based on a comic book. The film tells the story of a man named David Dunn (Bruce Willis), who slowly discovers that he’s impervious to harm.
Ultimately, he decides to accept his destiny and become a “superhero,” which in turn leads the man (Samuel L. Jackson) responsible for making him aware of his gift down a villainous path. For many years, the director had promised that he would one day get to work on a sequel, but nothing ever came to fruition…until now, that is.

Thoughts on, and a place to discuss, the plot points we can’t reveal in our review.
If Unbreakable’s David Dunn was M. Night Shyamalan’s version of the classic superhero, then what does that make Kevin? His take on an X-Men villain? Over the course of the film, Shyamalan drops a few hints about the connection between Split and his fondly remembered reimagining of the comic book origin story (the title and poster are dead giveaways, in retrospect), but it isn’t until the final moments—and the split-second return of Bruce Willis as Dunn—that the movie reveals itself as being set in the Unbreakable-verse. One can imagine a proper sequel that will pit Dunn against “the Horde,” as Kevin calls himself at the end of the movie. But how much does the connection between the two films really matter?
After all, part of what makes...

M Night Shyamalan's already well known for his knotty thrillers, and in many respects, Split doesn't disappoint. It stars James McAvoy as Kevin, a seemingly ordinary guy who suffers from dissociative identity disorder (Did), and whose multiple personalities are beginning to run dangerously out of control. Dennis, on the other hand, is far more unstable: one day, he decides to kidnap three teenagers - Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy), Claire (Haley Lu Richardson) and Marcia (Jessica Sula) - and keep them locked up in his basement.

The hoodie has as much to say about it’s wearer as, say, the white t-shirt does. By which I mean that, depending on context, it can say anything. The white t-shirt can imply clean, erotic, the worker – or a combination of all three. In the eyes of contemporary media, the hoodie largely suggests youth. Shady youth, someone not keen to reveal their identity because they are planning on robbing you or worse. Put the hoodie on a black man and it is pretty much akin to walking down the street in a striped jumper with a sack marked ‘swag’. Luke Cage is not set to change that perception, but it does make us reevaluate the role of the hoodie on screen. For the first time in a long time, perhaps ever, a black man in a hoodie in Harlem is not a suspect. In fact he’s a goddamn hero.

M Night Shyamalan made his name with Oscar-nominated chiller The Sixth Sense, but it's comic book-inspired follow-up Unbreakable that many regard as his best movie.
The writer-director's 2000 drama, about a security guard (Bruce Willis) who discovers he's indestructible, didn't match Sixth Sense's titanic box office success but proved to be way ahead of the curve when it comes to Hollywood's current superhero fascination.
Shyamalan, promoting his new horror-comedy The Visit, told Digital Spy he hasn't given up on Unbreakable 2.
"You never know. It's a world I really love and I've been thinking about it a lot. It wouldn't be a normal sequel that's for sure," he said.
Bruce Willis's heroic David Dunn and his powder-boned nemesis Elijah Price (Samuel L Jackson)? They'd both return to resume battle.
"If I can put it together those characters will be back. It would be fun to work with them again," he said.

M Night Shyamalan recently stated that he would love to direct an "Unbreakable" sequel and has some ideas on how to continue the franchise. And now, Patton Oswalt, has unveiled some of his own idea for what the next two installments should focus on. He explained: "In the first sequel, since Mr. Glass is in an asylum, David Dunn realizes that Glass has found other 'Unbreakables' around the world. This evidence is seen at the end of the first movie. So basically 'Unbreakable 2' is a recruitment of the real life Justice League. It ends with Dunn killing, or allowing one of his members to be killed, thereby putting everything he believes into question. 'Unbreakable 3' would see Mr. Glass get out of the asylum. While in there, he's been meeting new and interesting villains so he's got his own super team. The main plot would then involve them trying...

Once hailed as “the next Spielberg,” the name M. Night Shyamalan is widely considered a punchline following a string of box office and critical failures. But that hasn’t stopped one of his earlier films “Unbreakable” from gaining a group of obsessive fans including Patton Oswalt. Released the same year as Bryan Singer’s “X-Men,” Shyamalan’s Bruce Willis-starring take on the superhero myth had a much cooler response from the moviegoing public and critics than his previous “The Sixth Sense.” So Buena Vista Pictures put the kibosh on any sequel plans, despite Bruce Willis’s hopes for a trilogy. Fifteen years later, the hopes for a David Dunn (Willis’ character) trilogy live on in Oswalt’s imagination. The “Big Fan” and “Ratatouille” actor stopped by Screen Junkies for their “Dream Sequels” segment to reveal what his ideal sequels for the 2000 film would be. Never mind what Shyamalan’s been tinkering with recently —the.

Ever since Unbreakable was released 15 years ago, writer and director M. Night Shyamalan has been teasing a sequel. Every few years he'll mention that he still wants to make it happen, with the last update coming in 2013 when he said "it's getting closer." But maybe he should listen to a pitch from a somewhat unexpected place: comedian Patton Oswalt. The "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." guest star recently appeared on Screen Junkies to talk about his dream of seeing Unbreakable 2 happen, and he even has a basic idea for the story. But that's not all, because he has a plan to complete a trilogy with an Unbreakable 3 as well. Here's Patton Oswalt's pitch for his dream sequel Unbreakable 2 from Screen Junkies (via SlashFilm): Don't forget about Patton Oswalt's awesome Star Wars and Marvel crossover idea right here. If you don't have time to watch the whole video, we'll simplify it for you.

It's been almost 15 years since the release of Unbreakable, and you'd think the window of opportunity for a sequel has long since passed. But now more than ever, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan seems to believe it's finally the perfect time to revisit superpowered security guard David Dunn (played by Bruce Willis) and his arch nemesis Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson). Collider caught up with the filmmaker while he promoted his upcoming show Wayward Pines and took a moment to discuss the possibility of the follow-up. "Of course, the whole world makes comic book movies now," Shyamalan notes. "At the time, it was completely novel. I remember when I made it, Disney was literally like, 'Comic books?! There’s no...

If there’s one M. Night Shyamalan movie I would kind of be excited about, it would be a sequel to his comic book inspired film, Unbreakable. I loved that movie, and I’m surprised that we still have yet to see a sequel. During an interview with Collider, the director was asked if he ever thinks about continuing the adventures of David Dunn (Bruce Willis), who becomes an unlikely superhero when he discovers that he’s virtually indestructible. This is what he said:
“Yeah, I do sometimes. I love those characters and I love that world. Of course, the whole world makes comic book movies now. At the time, it was completely novel.”
I have to say that as much as I don’t like most of the films that Shyamalan has made over the years, he did bring us one of the first grounded, reality-based superhero movies, which...

Blackburn Rovers have never beaten Northwest rivals Manchester City since the Etihad outfit was taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008. These two sides, both former Premier League champions, will face one another in the opening game of Fa Cup third round weekend.
Bankrolled by Arab billions, City boast a recent record of six wins and three draws against Rovers. Prior to that, Blackburn managed five successive victories in this fixture – including their last meeting in the world’s oldest knockout football competition.
Mark Hughes masterminded that Fa Cup quarter-final win at Ewood Park in March 2007 with Aaron Mokoena netting the opener before being sent off. Matt Derbyshire later sealed victory for Rovers. Hughes later went on to manage City.
South African striker Benni McCarthy scored the only goal the following September when Blackburn last won this encounter.

It's almost impossible to think it now but at the turn of the millennium the hottest ticket in town was M Night Shyamalan. His chilling ghost story The Sixth Sense built around an "oh wow" third-act plot twist, scooped six Oscar nominations and delivered a massive $670 million box office payday. Success thrust Shyamalan to Christopher Nolan-like levels of adulation, but the years since have not been so kind. The wheels began to judder on the uneven The Village before a series of creative misfires with Lady in the Water, The Happening and the truly terrible Last Airbender derailed him completely. Even this month's After Earth (complete with Will Smith's A-list star power) is proving to be a less-than-prosperous outing for Hollywood's one-time golden boy.
We here at Digital Spy are more interested in celebrating Shyamalan's triumphs though, in particular his 2000 Sixth Sense follow-up Unbreakable - in our eyes his most accomplished movie.

Die Hard is still regarded by many as not only the best Christmas film of all time, but also the best action film of all time as well, so it is unsurprising that it is still spawning numerous sequels despite the fact that many critics and audiences believe it to be going down hill faster than John McClane’s marriage. Having said that, there are still many people who love the crazy direction that the series is going in, even if it is being steered away from what made Die Hard what it was in the first place.
I have to admit that I am in the latter camp. I love each entry into the Die Hard series and whilst I can appreciate that the plot of Die Hard 4, combined with them far too readily involving McClane’s daughter (although I do love Mary Elizabeth Winstead), lead many people to...

Honey Boo Boo and her family have become overnight celebrities thanks to the reality show 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,' and Mama June says their fame has made then more like the Lohans! Read on to find out what she said. Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson and her family have been called many things since the launch of their TLC reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, but similar to actress Lindsay Lohan and her dysfunctional clan is not one of them -- until mama June Shannon made the comparison herself! Alana and June stopped by the TMZ offices on Oct. 15, and when Harvey Levin asked the "Coupon Queen" what she thought about Lindsay Lohan's personal troubles, Mama June gave a shocking answer! "Lindsay Lohan, I bet that she has had a lot of family issues," she said. "We're going through the same thing with a couple...

Honey Boo Boo's family may bring big laughs and ratings on their reality show, but the family's shady past -- including four kids by four different criminal fathers -- is no laughing matter. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has made America laugh (and cringe) since it premiered on Aug. 8, but the reality behind the reality show's zany family is quite shocking. Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo, was a breakout star during her segment on TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras. But it was Mama June Shannon, the family's matriarch, who is in the spotlight after their spinoff reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has aired. Honey Boo Boo lives with June and her dad, David Michael "Sugar Bear" Thompson, who are not married. Alana's four sisters actually all have different fathers, two of whom are convicted criminals. The oldest sister, Anna "Chickadee" Shannon, 17, was fathered by a man named David Dunn,...

Team news ahead of Chelsea vs Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League this afternoon. Kick-off time is at 3pm at Stamford Bridge, synchronized with the rest of the final games of the season and the game won’t be televised live in the UK.
Chelsea’s centre-back pairing Gary Cahill and David Luiz will both sit out today as manager Roberto Di Matteo attempts to nurse them through their hamstring injuries so they can be fit for Saturday’s Champions League final. Captain John Terry is suspended for that final as is defender Branislav Ivanovic, so they will partner each other at the heart of the defence today.
John Obi Mikel is struggling with a knee injury so he is likely to sit out and not be risked. Elsewhere, boss Di Matteo said on Friday that he would call upon some of Chelsea’s youngsters in the match against Rovers...

The coaches completed their teams of twelve last night in the battle round of The Voice Season Two and what a completion it was. One vocalist was lucky enough sing a brief duet with her coach! Viewers were hoping for the unexpected this season and they got it early on. The last remaining coach to round out their team was very happy indeed while finding her last team member. Sera Hill is very talented… but she also sang one of Christina’s favorite jams, “I’m Going Down” and it put her in one extremely rare moment. When Christina Aguilera grabbed the mic and sang with Hill, everyone was taken aback. People pay big money to see Aguilera sing, but sometimes when you want to get down with the music, you just want to get down. Thank you Christina for letting us see you letting your hair down. It was quite a moment.

Round 5 of "The Voice's" blind auditions was all about filling the teams for the judges. And while that did mean a much-appreciated decrease in sob stories and excessive praise for supportive parents (We love you, too, Mom and Dad), it also meant that the contestants were not quite as entertaining as those that we've seen in the past four rounds of blind auditions. Also, unlike Season 1, "The Voice" said no to second chances and no hopefuls were allowed to audition again.
Nonetheless, we are definitely ready to move onto the battle rounds, if for no other reason than to allow the judges to have a change of clothes for the first time in more than a month.
Chelsey: "Final round of blindness begins! A.K.A. The longest day Ever for the judges apparently."
Jaimie: "Finally! I am so over Christina's plasticy chest, draped in chains."
Chelsey: "Definitely ready to move on.

That was fun. After four weeks, five episodes and nine hours, The Voice has completed its season two Blind Auditions, and it was certainly a pleasant change from the bore fest that has become of other singing competitions.
Each coach rounded out his/her respective team, but Blake Shelton did it with the most style this week. Whether it was a joke about murdering Christina, or one about wanting Adam Levine in a sexual way, the country star had me laughing out loud on a number of occasions.
Check out our The Voice quotes page for all of Blake and the others' quips from the Blind Auditions.
Now let's take a look at the four teams, and who they added in the final round. We will start with the defending champion, who also had the best success rate when hitting his button this season.

The pressure was on for the coaches to form top-notch teams. The contestants were desperate, the coaches were picky, and Blake... was turned on. The Voice's final round of blind auditions began Feb. 27 with each coach looking for two more contestants to complete their teams, except for Cee Lo Green who was missing three. Several performed, but the coaches were not always quick to push their buttons. Whitney Myer, 25, who was in a band with her father and uncle, sang her own rendition of Alicia Keys’ “No One” and pleased all four coaches. Adam Levine compared to her to Mary J. Blige, and Christina Aguilera went into political-candidate mode promising success, but in the end Whitney decided to join Team Adam. Next up was David Dunn, 27, an honors student with a degree in engineering, who was not as lucky, but the crowd sure seemed to love him. And Cameron Novak,...
