"A young hero has to embark on an epic quest to save a princess from an evil villain, all within an absurd short amount of time." That's the premise of Short but Sweet, a two-minute animation by Dutch director Junaid Chundrigar. If you saw Thor: Ragnarok in a Dutch theater, this short was in front of it as part of the "Ultrakort" initiative by Pathé, Studio 21 and the Dutch Film Fund. Normally I can't wait for the film to start, but these "ultra-shorts" have a maximum length of two minutes and are often very creative and inventive. Short but Sweet is a fantasy spoof, and despite being only two minutes long, Junaid has managed to cram most of the genre's annoying tropes into it....

People in the Netherlands who went to see Thor: Ragnarok in certain cinemas were treated to a short in front of it: Junaid Chundrigar's Kort Maar Krachtig (Short But Strong, the Dutch saying for "short but sweet"). It's an animated fantasy spoof which is only two minutes long, but Junaid has managed to cram most of the genre's most annoying and baffling tropes into it. The end result is hilarious and laugh-out-loud funny. Kort Maar Krachtig has already picked up several awards, and in my opinion it deserves them all. I was in stitches afterwards, and properly warmed up for the main film. So let us dedicate our question of the week to short films. What is the best one you have ever seen, and...

Not only did animator Junaid Chundrigar create one of the sharpest looking (and most hilarious) animated shorts we’ve ever seen spoofing the characters found within the Marvel universe, but Stan Lee himself took notice and decided to help spread the video himself! The short follows several characters from both The Avengers film as well as the Marvel universe, showing us that everyone has their share of bad days…particularly heroes.

Here's what came in today from our artist friend from the Netherlands... Hi! A couple of weeks ago, you posted my short 'Disassembled'. I got a lot of views which in turn got me a lot of new opportunities :) I can't talk about anything yet but the first cool thing I can talk about is that Stan Lee himself filmed an introduction to the short. I added it to the short itself: https://vimeo.com/41930613 Best, Junaid Very cool, huh?!! Such is the power of ComicBookMovie.com! I wonder what else we'll see coming from him? Sounds like something is in the works! Congrats Junaid! Be sure and fill us in when you're able. Here is the short again, but with the Stan Lee intro. Disassembled from Junaid Chundrigar on Vimeo.

Here's an Avengers parody that shows the Avengers disassembled, and having not the smoothest time being apart. I think the best Avengers parody I've seen so far has to be Too Many Avengers. The voice work was pretty spot on, and it brought the funny. But this new parody has some way sweet animation by Junaid Chundrigar. The style kinda reminds me of Dexter's Labratory. It lacks a tad bit in the comedic department for me; it's all really quick slapstick. But there are some good moments that are definitely worth taking the time to check out. It's also good to see Avengers who weren't in the box office destroyer. Check it out and let us know what other elements of the film you'd like to see parodied.

Why Watch? The Avengers parodies were inevitable, but animator Junaid Chundrigar just won with a fantastic exploration of The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man and other Marvel heroes on their bad days. Instead of a story, Chundrigar relies on quick, slap-stick style comic moments. Venom struggles with an ice cream cone, Spidey meets a helicopter head on, and a city burns when a meatball gets dropped. It’s funny, and the animation has an adorable Saturday Morning Cartoon vibe that makes this short even more agreeable. No surprise that the fine folks at Short of the Week sent it along – they know quality when they see it. I can’t help but think Joss Whedon would love this. What will it cost? Only 2 minutes. Skip Work. You’ve got Time For More Short Films...

This. Is. Awesomesauce! Director Joss Whedon‘s big-screen superheroes in The Avengers are having a record breaking time at the box office, but do they, and the other Marvel Comics heroes ever have a bad day? Creator Junaid Chundrigar apparently wanted to answer that question, and he did it in (as Stan Lee would say) Excelsior! fashion with his animated short entitled, Dissasembled.

Here at TheMoviePool we like to talk about all aspects of filmmaking and movie news. To that end, we have Indie Beat where we highlight some of the latest news, trailers, and PR releases from the indie filmmaker scene. So if you're an independent filmmaker and want some coverage on our site, be sure to drop us a line.
Today's piece of Indie Beat comes from Junaid Chundrigar, a 2D animator from the Netherlands. After watching The Avengers, he came up with this fun little two minute short film that shows off what some of Marvel heroes (and a couple villains) do in their off time.
It's goofy, and has some ridiculous situations, but this had me laughing my ass off the entire time and was pretty much the best 2 minutes of my entire day. It's well worth sharing and if you want more animation from Chundrigar, check out his Vimeo page.

Dutch animator Junaid Chundrigar was so inspired by The Avengers that he made a short cartoon about some of Marvel's famous heroes having an off-day. It's a cute, goofy, and funny little slice of animation and a short investment of your time. What really intrigued me about this video is the animation style, which is really well done for this type of cartoon. Enjoy:...

The sci-fi pop culture collectors over at io9.com recently dug up some incredible, fan-made concept art for Incredibles 2, and while we'll get to those images shortly, it sent us browsing around artist Edwin Rhemrev's online portfolio. It's filled with wonderfully imaginative landscapes and environment designs, several of which really caught our eye. The first was for The New Kid (pictured above), which unfortunately some further digging tells us is in fact not for the animated film being developed by the minds behind Penny Arcade and screenwriter Gary Whitta. It is however for an upcoming short film about a little green blob, and you can check out artist Junaid Chundrigar's blog for a few more sketches from the project. The next piece that really struck...
