Wednesday’s season premiere of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” was one of the show’s strongest, certainly of the last 10 seasons, but quite possibly among the best in its 19-year history. We are so high on the premiere that it’s giving us hope that producers have course-corrected some of the poor editing and meandering storylines that plagued the last few seasons. Four seasons ago Ben Driebergen‘s eventual win was blatantly obvious from the jump due to his heroic editing and just last season the “Edge of Extinction” twist corrupted the tail end of a season where the story was forced to focus on endgame players that would eventually lose to Chris Underwood, a player who was in the game proper for only 13 of 39 days,
So what made us think that the “Island of the Idols” premiere was a promising start to what could be one of the...

It was a Cancun wedding for Survivor: One World contestant Alicia Rosa.
The reality star, who finished fifth on the long-running show in 2012, tied the knot with attorney Mark Waller on Saturday at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun.
Several of Rosa’s fellow Survivors attended the ceremony, including Nina Acosta, Matt Quinlan and winners Kim Spradlin Wolfe and Aras Baskauskas.
While the ceremony and the reception went without a hitch, Rosa, 30, did have some trouble finding the perfect dress. After a bridal shop twice failed to deliver the gown she had ordered, Rosa found herself without anything to wear.

Kim Spradlin has a lot of great memories from the beach.
In 2012, she spent 39 days on a beach in Samoa, outwitting her way to the million-dollar prize on Survivor: One World.
And on Saturday, she got an even better prize when she married fiancé Bryan Wolfe on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Surrounded by approximately 30 guests, Spradlin exchanged vows in a casual, boho-chic ceremony.
"We chose a private beach near our hotel," Spradlin tells People. "It's by a cove. I just wanted it to feel very organic and natural."

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Or a woman voted out first from her tribe on Survivor. We found that out first hand when Survivor: Caramoan — Fans vs Favorites bootee Allie Pohevitz called into the InsideTV Podcast to discuss her time on the island. She wasn’t too happy about being labeled “not the cutest” by cuddle-partner Reynold, but she saved the bulk of her ire for dehydration-phobic Shamar, labeling him “disgusting” and a “disgrace.” “I cannot stand that man,” she says in case there is any doubt as to her true feelings. Jason Ritter has joined Friends & Family, the Fox comedy pilot based on Gavin & Stacey, taking the Gavin role. That's got to be a promising first step, right?
Maggie Smith tells 60 Minutes this weekend that she's never watched Downton Abbey, saying she'd "agonize" over her performance if she did. That's right, even Maggie Smith has those moments of insecurity.
Apparently they didn't mean it. E! has cancelled Whitney Cummings' talk show, Love You, Mean It.

Holy hot people, Batman!
The Good Wife cast is already one of the best-dressed casts on TV but even they stepped up their game for this new batch of promotional photos, which EW has an exclusive first peek at: (Click below.)
Look how chummy they are!
Of course, on this week’s episode, airing Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS, the team from Lockhart/Gardner are anything but friendly as Will and Diane enlist Alicia and Cary to be their foes in a mock trial that turns ugly. (You’ll see why…)

Most Fitting Finale: Hats off to Tina Fey and Co. for wrapping up 30 Rock’s seven season run on an absurdly hilarious and surprising heartfelt note.
Most Manipulative: We all know The Bachelor’s bitchy Tierra doesn’t have a shot at walking away with Sean’s heart… and so does she. But that doesn’t mean she’s not willing to let herself be portrayed in the worst possible light in exchange for her 15 minutes of fame.
Most Shameless: In what some have called a desperate ratings stunt, this week’s episode of Glee saw the writer’s shamelessly take advantage of its most eye-pleasing collection of student bodies to date by forcing the cast to strip down to raise money so that New Directions could compete at Regionals. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

You’d expect shows on youth-oriented networks like The CW or Fox to push the boundaries of sexual content on network television, but The Good Wife on stodgy old CBS has never been shy either. Two years ago, the legal drama aired a guy-on-gal oral sex scene between Peter and Alicia Florrick, and tonight’s episode features another incident that somehow slipped by network censors. I won’t spoil the details, but let’s just say it involves Kalinda, her (recently reunited with) husband, and…um, ice cream. If what I think is happening in the scene actually happens, well,...

Yeah, I'm still looking at Major Crimes and thinking,
"President Roslin's solving crime! With Hugh of the Borg!"
Yiiikes, with the Olympics out of the way, there's a whole lot of TV. I'm still figuring out how my DVR is going to catch all of it.
News
Former General Hospital star Greg Vaughan is headed to Salem. Vaughn will join Days of Our Lives as Sami's brother Eric, who was last played by Ae-fave Jensen Ackles (remember the early rumors that Eric would turn out to be gay?)
In further soap news, Ronn Moss one of only four actors who was a part of The Bold and the Beautiful since the beginning, is quitting the show after 25 years.
io9 asks "Are fan fiction and fan art legal?" Frustratingly, the answer is complicated, very complicated and probably comes down to who's involved.
A mini Sopranos reunion is coming to The Good Wife...

Survivor: One World Review, Season 24, Episode 15, Reunion
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Although they tend to focus on a few contestants, Survivor reunions always include standout moments that make them worth the extra hour. This year’s has more than its share of highlights, with many coming from Jeff Probst himself. He asks questions to the wrong people, interviews random audience members, and seems more flustered than usual. That said, he’s also having a great time and keeps the mood light. The kinder tone of the final Tribal Council sticks around for the reunion, with even Colton and Alicia not coming off terribly. She gives a heartfelt apology that feels genuine and shows that at least she realizes her conduct was troublesome. The one exception to the love fest is Troyzan, who compares himself to Richard Hatch and still won’t admit he got played. Sporting ridiculous dyed black hair,...

on Sunday, concluding with the rightful victory of bridal-shop owner Kim Spradlin. After running multiple alliances and winning four immunity challenges (among other accomplishments), Kim's status as one of the all-time greatest "Survivor" winners can't be denied. But even though the best player won the game, does that mean "One World" was one of the better seasons in "Survivor" history? Not necessarily — certainly not if you're asking season villain Colton Cumbie, who declared during the live "Survivor" reunion that "One World" got boring once he was medically evacuated from the game.

Survivor: One World Review, Season 24, Episode 14,
“Perception is Not Always Reality”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
There have been only a few cases where the Survivor winner has been telegraphed so far in advance. A recent example was Boston Rob’s roll through the Redemption Island season, but his edge as a four-time returning player made it easier. Kim has played front and center since the merge and put a huge target on her back. She’s walked the line between staying loyal to her alliance and removing major challengers. During the two-hour finale, she has several opportunities to take out players who could steal the prize. The surprising part is that she resists that temptation and sticks with Sabrina and Chelsea to face the music. Her confidence in the Final Tribal Council is clear, and the only remaining obstacle is bitterness from the jury.

Was "Survivor" everything you hoped or expected it would be?
Oh, man. Honestly, like when I first went out there, I didn't expect to make it nearly as far as I did. I didn't expect to have the close bonds with people that I did. I expected the game to be really hard and having to use all my physical and mental strength the whole time. Eighteen players vied for the million dollars on Survivor: One World this season, but in truth, 17 of them never really stood a chance. 29-year-old bridal shop owner Kim Spradlin turned Samoa into her own personal domination station, and in the end, the jury said “I do” when voting to give her the victory. (Only bitter Troy and confused Leif opted to vote for runner-up Sabrina instead.) Now $1,100,000 richer after winning both the game and the fan favorite vote, Kim took a few minutes out from her sleepless morning to dissect her own game and reveal whether she would consider doing it all over again.

Kim Spradlin isn't the only "Survivor: One World" winner. Ok, technically she is — that cool $1 million is firmly in her bank account — but the season's four finalists can also take comfort in knowing that they made "Survivor" history together: For the first time in 24 seasons, there was not a single man left standing among the final five contestants.
The feat is all the more impressive considering where the women began. At the outset of "One World," the two tribes were separated on gender lines, with the men of Manono showcasing their clear physical advantage with two early immunity wins. It certainly didn't help that the women of Salani were turning on each other, with in-fighting dominating much of their air time in the season's earliest episodes.

Throughout the Survivor finale, the women kept saying to each other “may the best woman win." Thankfully, she did.
Kim put a bow on the neat little package that was her game this season. She dominated from start to finish and even if you do not believe she has earned her place among the Survivor greats, the way she played this season certainly does. Her win ranks alongside Boston Rob (Survivor: Redemption Island), Brian Heidik (Survivor: Thailand) and Tom Westman (Survivor: Palau).
Consider that throughout the entire game, she was never seriously targeted to be voted out. None of the other people playing with her recognized how much of a threat she was to not only keep advancing, but win the game. She played both sides of two different alliances at two different points in the game and came out of both not only on the winning side, but without a scratch on her.

The "Survivor: One World" reunion special is largely Colton-focused, which is annoying.
The first part of the reunion show is pretty firework-free. Even Leif and Troyzan are not seeming mad that Kim won (they were the two votes for Sabrina). Everyone seems to agree that Kim is a deserving winner. Which is true.
Colton's Shot at Redemption
But then. Colton time. He owns what he said and he says it made him uncomfortable. And he says he saw himself being a very, very mean person. Jeff presses him whether he's the racist bigot we saw on the show. His defense is that he would make out with Shemar Moore faster than any woman. Um, that doesn't make you not a racist dude. Notice how Bill was not laughing at that? Saying any kind of "I have a black friend" type thing does not make you not a racist.

On "Survivor: One World," we're down to an all-female Final 5 for the first time in the show's history. Well done, ladies. Hat tip to you all for playing a pretty gosh darn good game.

It's rather hilarious how Alicia/Christina and Chelsea/Sabrina still think they are good to go with Kim for a Top 3. They just have no idea and nobody has realized that Kim is a huge threat to win the money. We aren't rooting for anyone to take her out, but it is kind of mystifying that nobody talks about it.

But just for the record - Kim deserves to win this in a unanimous vote, so hopefully that's how it goes down.

Survivor 24,One World Kim Spradlin won the whole thing tonight in finale episode. Tonight's 2 hour finale show, kicked off with more commentary from the all-girl finalists. Alicia tossed up Chelsea and Sabrina's names for elimination. Sabrina wanted Alicia out. Kim thought Chelsea would be good to get rid of,next, because a lot of people would probably vote for her. Christina was the favorite to take to the finals, since she hardly did anything. Next, they showed the immunity challenge footage. It involved an obstacle course and putting a puzzle together. It came down to Alicia,Chelsea, and Kim. Then Kim just edged them out for another immunity win. After the break, Kim told Alicia and Christina, she was voting Chelsea out,but she was playing both sides at this point,so the votes were still up in the air. Next, they showed tribal counsel footage. Talked game for a bit.

After annihilating all the men in Survivor: One World's battle of the sexes, five women headed into tonight's finale—a first for the reality series. But did rivals Chelsea, Sabrina, Alicia and Christina even stand a chance against frontrunner Kim, who dominated the game since day one? Move over Tarzan, Kim Spradlin is queen of this jungle. The wedding-boutique owner won the million-dollar prize and title of Sole Survivor with an 8-1 jury vote. That wasn't her only landslide victory: Kim also handily won the fan-voted $100,000 prize for Sprint Player of the Season. So, how did she get there? The first to go was Alicia, who continued to insist she "played one hell of a...

It's that time again - the three-hour "Survivor" finale extravaganza. This year, the "One World" Final 5 is down to five women, a feat that has never before been accomplished on the show, so hat tip to the ladies for kicking butt and taking names all season.
But who is going to walk away crowned the Sole Survivor? Is it going to be puppetmaster Kim, who has fairly well dominated the game from early on? Or her sidekick Chelsea, who is likable and pretty and who has not made as many enemies? Or Sabrina, who is no dummy in her own right and is probably well-liked amongst the jury members?
Maybe the gregarious Alicia? We'd call her a dark horse. If she makes the Top 3 and has a good argument for why she should win, she might be able to swing some votes her way. Christina is probably a long-shot. She seems like a nice girl,...

For the first time in Survivor history, it's all about the women. Here we are with only five players left on the finale of Survivor: One World and they're all women. There's Kim, the clearly deserving winner who's been running the show ever since the Merge. There's Chelsea, her loyal number two, and Sabrina the wild card. Then there's Alicia, the totally delusional nut job who think she's in charge and Christina, the worthless player who's only there because she's not a threat to anyone.

Survivor: One World Review, Season 24, Episode 13, “It’s Human Nature”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
In game theory, there’s a plan of attack known as a secure strategy where the player chooses the least-worst option. The approach focuses on avoiding risks and protecting against the worst-case scenario. Extending this concept to Survivor, contestants frequently go into the game with the sole purpose of staying on the island. They aren’t working to gain control or garner jury votes and just want to keep playing for as long as possible. While it’s often effective for sticking around, this plan usually doesn’t lead to the ultimate success. This season’s definitive example is Christina, who’s been on the edges of her tribe since the first episode. When the other players exit, they consistently deride the fact that she remains while they’ve been kicked off the island.

Greg "Tarzan" Smith is the latest castaway voted off "Survivor: One World." He tells Zap2it in his exit interview that the girls were smarter post-merge.
Are you glad you did "Survivor"? Was it everything you hoped/expected it to be?
"I'm immensely glad that I did 'Survivor.' I really am an adventurer and it was an adventure. I starved, I didn't sleep, I lost 25 lbs. I developed a protein deficiency ... I love the interplay socially. It was like playing a chess game. I loved that. The problem was it was an 18-tier chess game with 18 brains and that made it incomparably fun for me. I had a great time. And I lost the weight that i needed to lose."
In hindsight, do you still think it was a good strategy to turn on the men?

The last man standing gets voted out, paving the way for Sunday's female-dominated finale.

Give him credit where it's due. If nothing else, the ludicrously entertaining Greg "Tarzan" Smith exited "Survivor: One World" exactly as you'd want him to: wearing an extra-tight bloodstained tank top and dirty panties on his head.
After almost 40 days and innumerable twist and turns along the way, Tarzan's shot at the million-dollar prize ended Wednesday night just short of the elite final five. Since he was the last man standing, Tarzan's exit marks the end of the season's battle of the sexes — a battle the women won decisively, despite a very rocky start. Now, only five players remain going into Sunday night's season finale: loudmouth Alicia, timid Christina, measured Sabrina, cowgirl Chelsea and Kim, long considered the front-runner to win the game.

Last week, Alicia declared that she was running the show on "Survivor: One World" (Wed., 8 p.m. Et on CBS), and she did so again this week. And yet, it's been pretty clear to everyone watching, and everyone on the island, that Kim was calling the shots.
Kim has also been playing both sides of the remaining six contestants. A dangerous game that she feared would come unraveled. But instead, she was able to take advantage of Tarzan trying to do the same thing to get the women united one more time to evict the final man in the game.
She was right in declaring that it would be disappointing to see a man in the final tribal council, after the women had worked so well together to decimate them. So Tarzan was the next to go, leaving five women alone to vie for the title of Sole Survivor.

Playing Survivor is an anxiety generating proposition. Every action you make, every person you talk to is noticed and scrutinized. Being on your game at all times is essential. The ability to trust someone else is necessary, but must be evaluated constantly.
With so much uncertainty in Survivor, determining who you can rely on and who you can trust is a very difficult situation. However, sometimes the players help you out. Not by making it obvious you can trust them, but making it obvious that you can’t trust them. This exact scenario led to Tarzan’s demise this week.
Tarzan’s strategy playing Survivor has certainly been unique if not downright confusing. He informed the viewers this week that he set up his game in stages and has continuously accomplished those stages. Okay, not bad. When talking to the women, he continuously downplays himself, focusing on anyone else. Also...

Can any future episodes of "Survivor: One World" live up to the awesomeness that was Kat's "fun and exciting" blindside. Heh. We enjoyed that just as much watching it again on the previouslies.
This episode certainly doesn't live up to last week, but everybody sure likes talking about Kim and her big blue devious eyes.

Tarzan is seeing that perhaps he has a way into the Top 3, though we are skeptical - all the girls have to realize the guys will totally vote for him to win just because they're bitter, right? His first play is to talk to Kim about her plan, saying her best bet is to go to the finals with Christina and Alicia. Interesting.
The next day, Chelsea lays it out for Christina why she should go with herself and Kim, and Christina immediately runs back to tell Tarzan, Alicia and Kim everything Chelsea said.

Survivor 24,One World voted off Greg Tarzan Smith in episode 13 tonight. Tonight's episode kicked off with more commentary footage. Tarzan started trying to make deals with Alicia. The conversations were kind of all over the place at this point. Then they showed rewards challenge footage. Chelsea ended, pulling out the win,and chose to take Sabrina and Kim with her on her food reward. After the break, they showed more commentary footage. Alicia started throwing Chelsea and Kim's name around for elimination, and maybe trying to take Christina and Tarzan to the finals. Later on, Alicia said, that she's gonna try and get Tarzan out after talking with Km and Christina. Either that,or Chelsea if she doesn't win immunity, because she thinks Chelsea had been trying to run game on her. Next, they showed immunity challenge footage. It involved a fish skeleton puzzle, and Alicia just edged out Kim for the win.

Be careful what you wish for. That was the lesson Survivor: One World contestant Kat Edorsson learned when she was blindsided this week. In anticipation of blindsiding tribemate Sabrina Thompson, Edorsson, 22, told host Jeff Probst she found blindsides "exciting" and "funny," but she was not laughing when she was the one sent to the jury instead. Speaking to People Thursday about her "million dollar mistake" during the reward challenge, the timeshare rep from Orlando, Fla., touched upon why she wishes Troy had encouraged another player instead of her, and how she doesn't mind being "the clown." You were very emotional during your exit interview.

There are some things you should never say while competing on a reality show for fear of angering the Gods and invoking their wrath. A lesson Kat learned the hard way on Survivor last night when she declared blindsides were hilarious ("Who doesn't love a blindside?!?") moments before the tribe spoke and ousted her shocked ass from the game.

“It’s Gonna Be Chaos”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
One of the most exciting parts of Survivor is the blindside, which gives clever players a chance to flip the game on an unsuspecting opponent. The editors love telegraphing the move and include plenty of quotes from the goat about how they’re “running the game” and “totally safe”. At Tribal Council, Kat even talks about the fun and excitement of the blindside. Her shocked reaction after the 6-1 vote against her is priceless. Her sobbing confessional during the credits is hard to take, even though her exit is welcome. Kat didn’t understand how the game worked. She talks about being embarrassed by leaving before Christina and Tarzan. The game doesn’t reward players who are the most “deserving”. There’s a good chance one of those two will reach the end,...

CBS Chelsea Meissner, Sabrina Thompson and Alicia Rose during the immunity challenge on “Survivor: One World.”
Previously on Survivor: Troyzan was voted out, leaving just one man standing, the somewhat senile Tarzan. Christina was at the bottom of the female alliance, but seems to be ignorant of that.
Back at camp, Alicia is mocking Christina and worried about Sabrina. Alicia claims she is in charge. “I’m controlling everything. I’m the most powerful player in this game,” she tells the camera.

After eliminating every male they thought was any kind of threat, leaving Tarzan the last man standing on "Survivor: One World" (Wed., 8 p.m. Et on CBS), the women finally started turning on one another. At this point, the strategy became about getting rid of anyone who stood a chance of doing well with the jury.
After making a boneheaded and non-strategic move upon her victory at the loved ones reward challenge, Kat put herself on the radar. Then, she lasted a full hour against Kim in the immunity challenge, proving herself a physical threat, as well as someone who hadn't made any real enemies on the island, and particularly with the male-dominated jury.
It came down to Kat and Sabrina -- who worried front-runners Kim and Alicia because of how well-spoken she is -- at Tribal Council. Quickly, the tide turned against Kat and though she said that backstabbing is exciting in the game,...

Let’s review who loves blindsides on Survivor. Certainly the Survivor producers love them. We, the viewers, love them. Heck, even Kat loves them!
Oh, wait... too soon?
To paraphrase George Costanza “now that chick got blindsided!” Unintentionally, Jeff set Kat up for one of the best (note: not biggest) reactions to a blindside even this week on Survivor. She probably would have cried regardless, but getting her quote moments before being voted off was tremendous.
Blindsides are always fun and exciting!
The slowly building shock on Kat’s face as the four votes for her were read was priceless. I was actually surprised she kept it together for the first three votes before she was finally eliminated on the fourth vote and became the new Pictionary definition of shocked. As far as I could tell she had no reason to suspect any votes.

We've been reading the comments from you, dear readers, regarding the "Survivor: One World" season. It's interesting that people think it's boring - is it just because there isn't some Alpha male dominating the game? Is it because Kim's a woman and she's been expertly manipulating both the men and women to do her bidding? We wonder.
Post Tribal
Alicia is worried about Sabrina, who is a smart cookie, and starts to wonder if they should keep Christina around because nobody will vote for her to win. Uh, duh. I can't believe it took you so long to see that.
Sprint Reward Challenge
It's the Sprint Loved Ones by Sprint challenge from Sprint. Does it involve an actual sprint? It should. Interestingly, none of the women's loved ones are husbands or partners. Are they all single? That's rare on "Survivor." But Tarzan's wife is there, so that's cool.

Survivor 24,One World voted off Kat Edorsson in episode 12 tonight. Tonight's episode kicked off with more commentary footage . Kim said, she was really relieved that they were able to get rid of Troy at last tribal counsel. Alicia said, she's the one actually running the show, and not Kim. After the break, the cast got video messages from their loved ones, resulting in a major sob fest. Next, they showed Rewards Challenge footage, and surely enough, the castmembers' family members were really there on the island, just like always. Is it just me,or has this show gotten extremely predictable? Anyways, after giving their family members a hug, they competed in the challenge with them in an obstacle course race. Kat and her cousin ended up winning, and got to choose two other couples to join them on a meatfest picnic. Kat chose Kim and Alicia, along with their family members to join her.

At least Troy Robertson didn't exit "Survivor: One World" without a fight. This week, the man they called "Troyzan" was finally taken out by the female cabal led by Kim & Chelsea, but only after he survived one Tribal Council with a Hidden Immunity Idol (leading to Jay's departure) and captured a must-in Immunity Challenge the following episode (leading to Leif's dismissal). And before being sent on his way on Wednesday's (April 25) episode, Troy made one last desperate plea to upset the Tikiano apple cart, working aggressively to stoke insecurity with Alicia, Kat and Christina, the three weak...

Survivor: One World Review, Season 24, Episode 11, “Never Say Die”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
A consistent source of frustration for Survivor fans is players accepting their spot and refusing to make big moves. It’s true that a good percentage of the time, it doesn’t make sense to change up the game. Unexpected twists provide great television, but they don’t always benefit the contestants themselves. Following the merge, however, there comes a time when anyone who actually wants to win has to pick their spot. Will they go meekly into the sunset and become a forgettable fifth place finisher? Or will they take a chance and try to gain an edge? If the plans fail, they can lead to a quick exit, but is it really that much worse to finish eighth? When John Cochran flipped on his tribe last season, he didn’t improve his ultimate standing.
