During its first three seasons on NBC, Stephen J. Cannell's "The A-Team" was one of the most popular shows on television. Critics dismissed it as mindless trash, but its 1983 premiere perfectly captured the gung-ho Reagan-era zeitgeist. The idea of a crack commando unit on the run from a government that did them dirty in the Vietnam War played to the country's bitterness over the mistreatment of veterans. Many Americans wanted to see the American military kick butt again, and what better way to scratch that itch than to build a series around a group of wrongly disgraced heroes?
The challenge for Cannell was satisfying his audience's bloodlust while observing the network's mandate that, due to its family-friendly 8 Pm timeslot, the good guys couldn't kill anybody. Could they fire off loads of cool-looking firearms or turn a bamboo into a bazooka? Absolutely! They just had to make sure their...

Dynasty had the good fortune of premiering as Dallas had triggered a resurgence in the evening soap opera television genre. Premiering in January 1981 — just a few months after the “Who Shot J.R.?” cliffhanger was resolved — the show wound up lasting nine seasons, produced 220 episodes, and even spawned a spinoff series. John Forsythe was the show’s anchor — as oil magnate Blake Carrington, he was the only actor to appear in every single episode of the show’s run. While Forsythe had been around Hollywood since the 1940s and had experienced great success as the voice of “Charlie” on Charlie’s Angels. Before his death in 2010 we spoke with Forsythe several times over the years and even with all of his Hollywood experience, he told us he couldn’t believe how successful Dynasty would become. Charlie’s Angels and its cast was a phenomenon in the 1970s. The TV series ran for five seasons from 1976-1981. It was produced by Aaron Spelling, who also created hits such as The Love Boat, Dynasty, Beverly Hills 90210, and Melrose Place.
The show was immensely popular with viewers but got mixed reviews from critics. Some called it “Jiggle TV” because it emphasized the sex appeal of its female cast.

Dynasty was the quintessential ’80s primetime soap opera. Millions tuned in weekly to see the glitz, the glamour, the backstabbing, and the shoulder pads. ABC aired the series from 1981 to 1989. It was so popular that music icon Prince mentioned it in his song “Kiss.” The lyrics, “You don’t have to watch Dynasty to have an attitude,” were a sign of the times. The nighttime soap earned a Golden Globe nomination yearly from 1981 to 1986, winning in 1983. And in 2017, The CW revived the series with a new cast. So, which original Dynasty cast members are still alive?

I have been very fortunate over the years to work for people who I consider to be excellent bosses – people I’ve learned from and who have helped me grow. Bosses can be some of the most nurturing individuals, but there are a few who can go over the top. Throughout the history of television, there have been all kinds of bosses, ranging from business owners on sitcoms, to leaders of government agencies, to ruthless CEOs. And they have provided some of the most iconic, award-winning performances in the history of the medium.

If you were getting flashbacks from The Hangover while watching Dynasty Season 3 Episode 20, I don't blame ya.
The episode -- which also served as the season finale since coronavirus shut down production before they were able to finish out the season -- took a page right out of the Bradley Cooper-led movie swapping Las Vegas for New Orleans.
The "what did we do last night" bachelorette party trope is cliche, but it's a cliche that works well when you have a group that vibes and plays well off of each other.
Sammy organized a surprise bachelorette party for Fallon that quickly took a wrong turn when they were "roofied" by some herbal potions made by Mistress Delphine. If you've ever been to New Orleans, you know those drinks will get the best of you!

Dynasty is ridiculous in the best was possible.
There's never been an episode dedicated solely to the guys of Dynasty, and it's a shame because Dynasty Season 3 Episode 19 proved that they could bring just as much drama as the ladies.
Did you ever think you'd see these five trapped in prison together?
After learning that Blake and Anders were kidnapped and trapped in a Moldavian prison, Adam and Liam lept into action.
They put aside their differences (more like Liam forgot that Adam tried to kill him at one point) and hopped on a jet with absolutely no concrete plans in place.
Who goes to a country run by a dictator without any backup or plan B?
Adam: The Un advises all international rescue groups not to go to Moldavia. Private security won't even go there.
Cristal: So what makes you think you can do it?
Adam: Look, look, we're not going there to fight.

After a lengthy hiatus, Dynasty Season 3 Episode 15 returned with a mediocre episode.
I'll be honest, the weekly parties have started to lose their pizazz. Even Blake Carrington wasn't in the mood for one.
It didn't make sense why Vanessa chose to host her single release party at the Manor instead of at Sammy's hotel, which would have been great promo for him.
But I guess they needed to emphasize that Dominique and Vanessa are living large now even if no one wants them around.
I'd fall into that same boat as Dominique's storyline has never felt exciting to me. I thought that Vanessa would at least challenge her mother with her independent and fiery personality, but instead, she was a let down proving that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
The fact that she would stick by her mother, who purposefully slept with her boyfriend and released the sex tape,...

Fallon is spiraling on Dynasty Season 3 Episode 11, and it's not a good look on her.
Despite all the progress that she's made these past few seasons, Fallon always finds herself back at square one: wanting to get out of Blake Carrington's shadow.
Their back-and-forth tussle between the father and daughter is reminiscent of Dynasty Season 1, but it's pointless drama that doesn't do either of the character's any favors.
There's no reason that Fallon cannot be independently successful. They can both exist in the same orbit without any sticking their noses into each other's business. The world is big enough for them both.
Hopefully, the realization she had thanks to Culhane will finally stick because, at this point, her character seems to be regressing rather than continuing on a trajectory of female empowerment that we've come to know her for.
Fallon has always had potential, but she botches nearly every plan she's ever had.

Operation save Kirby was in full effect on Dynasty Season 3 Episode 10, but the episode felt more like a filler and didn't do much in terms of progressing the overall storyline.
Kirby, though an asset to the show, is a supplemental character whose rescue mission didn't need to take up a full hour.
The best part was seeing Fallon and Adam team up as they pretended to be husband and wife to infiltrate the compound.
Without having to play the deranged brother, Sam Underwood was allowed to shine in his role and almost convinced us to like Adam ... almost.
Specifically, he was able to showcase his musical talents in a groovy duet with Fallon. Those two were so happy together.
When Fallon and Adam put aside their difference, they make a great team.
Their dynamic is fun, there's an energy about them, and they hilariously play off of each other.

Dynasty is giving us a showdown 37 years in the making. As teased in the synopsis for Friday’s episode (The CW, 9/8c), “Cristal and Alexis have a historically epic encounter,” and now TVLine has your exclusive first look at Blake Carrington’s wives’ waterlogged smackdown.
For you non-historians, the reboot is recreating an iconic brawl from the original Dynasty, which found Alexis (played by Joan Collins) and Krystle (played by Linda Evans) duking it out in the lily pond. That episode, appropriately titled “The Threat,” aired in 1983.

There are a lot of secret siblings on television.
Plenty of TV shows tend to build their foundation on common tropes such as the cringe-worthy love triangle trope and the long lost sibling trope.
If you need to stir up some drama, especially in a campy teen series, there's no better way than by bringing in a secret sibling that's jealous, scorned, vengeful, broken, betrayed, looking for a family, or all of the above.
Some secret siblings are introduced in a sensical way with the serious laying some breadcrumbs leading up to the introduction.
Other reveals come out of left field and frustrate audiences by appearing as mere plot devices thrown in for the sake of it.
And sometimes, the trope works well as the secret siblings become pivotal to the storyline and the main character's development.

TV characters usually wreak havoc while battling their way out of the legal system.

How many shady people can take up residence on a single show?
Well, Dynasty Season 3 Episode 6 proved that the answer is a whole lot and then some.
It's hard to tell who's the shadiest at this point. Is it Evan Tate? Is it Adam Carrington? Is it his nurse Nadia?
Is it Dominique? Or is it self-help speaker Joel Turner?
Every single one of these people is working an angle and has a hidden agenda, and quite frankly, it's becoming a little hard to keep up.
Even Blake Carrington is up to no good, but that's the least surprising part of the episode honestly.
Fallon: I am working on removing the other "L" word from my vocabulary.
Monica: "Love" or "Liam"?
Fallon: Both. I need to work on forgetting Liam, which is ironic.

Fallon's seeing dead people on Dynasty Season 3 Episode 1.
It's been a long and uneventful few months without the Carringtons antics, but despite the break, the series wasted no time addressing all the shocking cliffhangers.
The guilt Fallon is feeling stems from divers, hired by Adam, pulling two dead bodies -- Trixie and Mark -- out from the little lake in the Manor's backyard.
Finding the dead bodies forced both Anders and Blake to come clean about their involvement in the murder.
And then, the family did what they do best and banded together to bury the truth and keep the police from finding any incriminating evidence.
Just another day in the Carrington household.
Covering their tracks included Adam sneaking into the morgue to "switch up" the body tags so that the cops wouldn't find Blake's DNA all over.

This is a different bit of casting news for The CW's Dynasty.
Whenever there are cast changes for the reboot, they almost always include a beloved series regular exiting.
However, just hours ahead of Dynasty Season 3, it has been revealed that four cast members have been promoted to series regular status.
TV Line is reporting that Adam Huber, who plays Liam Ridley on the first two seasons of the series, has finally landed a series regular contract.
It's surprising the network confirmed the news before Dynasty Season 3 Episode 1 airing given that Dynasty Season 2 concluded with Liam's fate very much up in the air.
Still, this will be music to the ears of the fans that have been clamoring for more of Liam ever since his debut on the series.
Liam shares a strong connection with Fallon, and one that fans picked up on from the get-go.

Emmy- and Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Diahann Carroll has died at the age of 84.
Susan Kay, Carroll’s daughter, told The Associated Press her mother passed away from cancer on Friday. Originally diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer in 1997, Carroll frequently spoke out about the importance of early cancer detection, free screening for those who couldn’t afford mammograms, and the need for more money to be invested in research.
Born “Carol Diahann Johnson” in the Bronx, at 10 years old the musically-gifted Carroll received a scholarship from the Metropolitan Opera to study at New York’s High School of Music and Art. She went with the stage name “Diahann Carroll” at a friend’s suggestion to sound more exotic during auditioning for a spot on the “Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts” TV show. A spot she won—which also allowed her to perform on the daily radio show.

Diahann Carroll, TV’s history-making star of NBC’s 1960s sitcom Julia and Broadway’s first black Tony Award-winner in a leading role for the 1962 musical No Strings, died today of cancer. The Dynasty star was 84.
“My personal world has taken a downward spiral,” said singer and friend Dionne Warwick in a statement. “Losing my dear friend and Mentor comes as a true hurt to my heart!! I know I’ll miss her as I’m certain all that knew her will. Rest In Peace my dear friend.”
Carroll’s death was announced by her daughter, Suzanne Kay.
Already a popular stage and nightclub performer when she signed on to star in Julia, Carroll is credited with being the first African-American actress to lead a primetime series in a non-stereotypical role, and the first overall since Beulah, the 1950s sitcom about a maid.

Sadly, our parents don't always approve of the people we choose to be with.
For the most part, it's just because they want the best for their kids, but other times they let their own prejudice cloud their judgment.

Deception, jealousy, and lies were at the core of a fantastic season finale.
I'd say the season's ups and downs are worth watching simply for their shocking finales.
By the end of Dynasty Season 2 Episode 22, two dead bodies were pulled out of the Carrington lake, Liam was drowning in the pool (at least someone uses the amenities), Blake betrayed everyone, Dominique betrayed Colby, Kirby betrayed Fallon, and Adam was more deranged than ever before.
Yeah, it was a hot mess, but I was eating up every second.
This is what we've been wanting from a nighttime soap!
Adam will eventually get what's coming to him, I do not doubt that, but for now, he's ripping the Carrington family apart.
His anger is almost at capacity, and I'm waiting for the moment he implodes.
Liam: It's nice to see you smiling again.
Fallon: It's nice to be back on top.
Liam: That's what said.

We're gearing up for yet another battle between the Carringtons and the Colbys, but this one seems uninspired.
We've known that Blake is a shady snake, but on Dynasty Season 2 Episode 21 he proved he'll do anything to save his own ass.
At least he's found a partner in crime in Cristal.
If anyone was played by Cristal, it was me.
I wanted to believe that she was gearing up to leave Blake to save her family, and admittedly, felt a pang of disappointment when I realized she willingly turned on Culhane to protect her husband.
Blake deserves everything that's happening to him but with his rich male mentality, he thinks he's above all of it.
With Cristal's help, he swiftly sold Culhane out to the FBI and made them believe Culhane was playing them the whole time.

Damn, who would have thought that Culhane's solo efforts to take down Blake Carrington would be successful.
Culhane was able to achieve something he's probably dreamt of doing for years on Dynasty Season 2 Episode 20; he outsmarted Blake.
Considering it was a do or die situation, Culhane was motivated to succeed, but given how many times Blake's been one step ahead of everyone, I pegged this as a lost cause.
However, Culhane proved that he's learned a thing or two while working for the Carringtons.
Cristal fell right into his trap and warned Blake of the FBI's involvement which pushed him to threaten the Senator who was wearing a wire.
The plan was well executed, and it was oddly satisfying to see Blake get walked out of his own event in cuffs.
Unfortunately, we'd be naive to think that Blake is going to stay incarcerated.
Did you pack your mother of the year trophies?...

Dominique Deveraux is returning to Dynasty. ER alumna Michael Michele has been tapped to play the role in the CW reboot. The Devereaux character, portrayed by Diahann Carroll in the original series, will be introduced at the end of the current season 2 as a recurring, with the possibility of becoming a series regular in season 3.
Dominique Deveraux is the matriarch of the Colby family and half-sister of Blake Carrington, a fabulously elegant, self-made woman, known for her outrageous fashion sense and penchant for drama. Dominique will return to Atlanta after a long stint in New York City where she spent the past several years seeking fame and adulation… to no avail. Now Dominique is home to reconnect with her estranged children, but does she really want to be part of their lives, or will she just disappoint them all over again? You won’t have to wait until October for your first glimpse at Dynasty‘s new Cristal: The CW on Wednesday unveiled its drama’s official Season 2 poster, which includes Ana-Brenda Contreras as the “realâ€. version of the character.
As you’ll recall, Dynasty‘s first season ended on a cliffhanger, with Cristal — played at the time by Nathalie Kelley — getting shot in the stomach and trapped in a fire. In June, Kelley spoiled her character’s ultimate demise by revealing she wouldn’t be returning to film any Season 2 scenes.

In the first season finale of Dynasty on The CW in May, Cristal's fate was left up in the air with the character shot and left inside a burning building. It looks like that mystery has been solved, at least in terms of Nathalie Kelley's run as the character.
After playing the role of Cristal Flores — the new wife of Blake Carrington — in the first season, Kelley announced in June that she wouldn't be returning to the show.
The network has now confirmed that telenovela star Ana Brenda Contreras will take over the role in the drama's upcoming second season. Furthermore, Contreras is said to be playing the "real" Cristal, though it's unclear what that means exactly.
Asked for the reason for the switch, CW president Mark Pedowitz said, "it's a wild soap, these are things you do on a soap."

Dynasty fans were shocked when earlier this summer one of the stars of the reboot, Nathalie Kelley, who plays Cristal, announced that she will not be returning for Season 2.
It turns out that he exit was part of a soapy plot twist. At the CW executive session, it was announced that telenovela Ana Brenda Contreras is joining the show in Season 2 as a new character, revealed to be the real Cristal Flores.
Cristal, Alexis or Michael’s fates were left up in the air in the Season 1 finale cliffhanger, which ended with the three still trapped in a fire after Cristal also had been shot.
“We were a little surprised she spoiled the surprise,” the CW president Mark Pedowitz said of Kelley’s comments, noting that “we have plans for other characters too. (Showrunner) Sallie (Patrick) has fun twist and turns in store.”

There will be a different dynamic on the CW’s Dynasty next season. One of the stars of the reboot, Nathalie Kelley, who plays Cristal, has confirmed in an E! interview that she will not be returning for Season 2.
The development is not entirely shocking — Cristal, Alexis or Michael’s fates were left up in the air in the Season 1 finale cliffhanger, which ended with the three still trapped in a fire after Cristal also had been shot.
Still, Kelley’s exit changes the original setup of the reboot, in which the story of the feud between the Carringtons and the Colbys was to be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies), daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington (Grant Show), and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal (Kelley), a Hispanic woman marrying into this Wasp family and America’s most powerful class.

Chicago – The ageless Joan Collins is probably best known for the prime time soap opera “Dynasty,” which ran from 1981 to 1989, but she is also a throwback to the last of the old studio system in Hollywood, when she was signed to a contract with 20th Century Fox in 1955. For her latest act, she will appear in the upcoming eighth season of FX Channel’s “American Horror Story.” Her birthday, May 23rd, is today.

No one is a match for Blake Carrington, but on Dynasty Season 1 Episode 20, everyone surely tries to be.
There are so many arrangements and alliances forming; it's getting hard to keep up with them all.
And it's getting even harder to keep everyone's motives straight.
I'm having the hardest time grasping what Alexis' game plan is. What is she trying to accomplish?
First, she pushed Fallon towards Culhane which is questionable because why is she so eager to have her daughter get back in his good graces?
Then she befriended Jeff Colby to right some wrongs from her past and attempted to repair his relationship with Monica and his family.
If that's where her efforts ended, I'd say she was doing some good.
Is this what happens when you marry a rich guy? Does he just assume that you're gonna be his house-husband? Him away on business trips while I'm...

It seems like the only person that hasn't pretended to be something he's not is Blake Carrington.
And on Dynasty Season 1 Episode 19, he's especially proud of being the ruthless and malicious tycoon.
I'm not sure why Cristal keeps acting shocked whenever Blake shows his true colors. They always say, when someone shows you who they really are, believe them.
Blake has been this person since day one, so this situation of being the victim in the marriage is entirely of her own doing.
She knew who she was marrying!

It doesn't matter if it's sworn enemies for reasons unknown or former friends who just can't stand each other anymore, rivalries keep us tuning in again and again.
Check out our list of duos whose clashes, feuds, or fights were some of the most exciting on television.
1. Stefan vs. Damon - The Vampire Diaries These two brothers had a rivalry that lasted for centuries. Women were the main cause, but in the end, these two were able to put beauties aside and restore their once strong brotherly love. 2. Krystle vs. Alexis - Dynasty There is no greater rivalry in television history than that of Krystle and Alexis. The wife and ex-wife of Blake Carrington were the most compelling part of the original Dynasty. Their cattiness, jealousy and epic fights made for dramatic and sensational viewing. Who wouldn't tune in week after week for that kind of fun? 3. Penguin vs. Jim...

Nearly three decades after the original Dynasty ended its nine-season run on ABC, the gates to Carrington Manor have been reopened by The CW — and things look a little different than you might remember.
As seen in Wednesday’s series premiere, Dynasty is still the story of billionaire businessman Blake Carrington (now played by Melrose Place‘s Grant Show) and his dramatic offspring, ambitious Fallon (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll‘s Elizabeth Gillies) and idealistic Steven (The Tomorrow People‘s James Mackay).
Fallon is certain that her homecoming will result in the promotion she’s been eyeing, but when she discovers...
