"He's toying with you, Glen." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for the film Damaged, a mysterious serial killer action thriller from the UK. It's now set for release in the US in early April both on VOD and in theaters. The film follows Dan Lawson, a Chicago detective, who travels to Scotland to link up with Scottish Det. Glen Boyd, following the resurgence of a serial killer who's crimes match an unsolved case that he also looked into five years previous in Chicago. What is the connection? Samuel L. Jackson stars as Lawson, and Scottish actor Gianni Capaldi co-stars as Boyd, also credited on co-writing the screenplay. The official synopsis asks: "How do you catch a brilliant monster?" So this is Silence of the Lambs again? The cast also includes Vincent Cassel, Laura Haddock, John Hannah, Katie Dickie, and Brian McCardie. This doesn't look as bad as it could,...

In Doctor Who, the phrase “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” has become synonymous with both the nature of time itself — short version: time is a nonlinear mess — and how woefully inadequate our layperson’s vocabulary is when it comes to blathering about time.
Whether you generally understand the intricacies of time and time travel but can’t formally express them, or your head immediately starts to explode the second somebody mentions killing Baby Hitler, it’s simpler to attribute temporal circumstances to “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” than pretend you’re Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The handiness of the phrase came to mind more than a few times while I watched the second season of Disney+’s Loki, on which the creative team has absolutely succeeded in using Marvel’s money to make a wildly expensive season of Doctor Who featuring Tom Hiddleston as the Doctor. It’s such a perfectly...

Writer/director David Lowery’s fantasy adventure film The Green Knight (watch it Here) is getting a special collector’s edition Blu-ray release on November 25th, and the folks at Collider have discovered that this Blu-ray is going to feature a new short film that was directed by Lowery! Sporting a running time of 20 minutes, the short film The Oak Thorn & The Old Rose of Love isn’t directly related to The Green Knight, but is connected to it due to the fact that it’s “based on another piece of Arthurian lore”.
Lowery told Collider, “I’d already been thinking about adapting this particular story, and as we were coming up with ways to make the Blu-ray extra special, I thought it would be nice to have an adjunct movie on the disc. I love physical media, and loved the idea of having this short film that would never be released online,...

Robert Eggers' 2015 film "The Witch" is about a family of Puritans who are too puritanical for the Puritans. The stern father (Ralph Ineson), the stern mother (Katie Dickie), and their five stern children are kicked out of their colony and forced to move into a cabin near the edge of the woods, miles away. The area is cold, wet, and muddy, and eerie things are afoot. Their pet goat, Black Phillip (Charlie), begins behaving strangely. One day, when the Taylor-Joy character is playing peek-a-boo with her infant brother, the baby vanishes, seemingly into...

"It's a small town, Jean." Good Deed Entertainment has released the official trailer for an indie romantic drama titled Tell It to the Bees, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. Based on Fiona Shaw's novel of the same name, the lesbian love story is set in England in the 1950s. A doctor returns to her small town to take over her father's medical practice, and falls for a mother of a lonely young boy whom she befriends. Of course, the local townspeople don't accept them being together, and their romance causes an upheaval in the town. The title refers to the bees that the doctor keeps, and the young boy she befriends who she instructs to tell his secrets to the bees, as she once did. Anna Paquin and Holliday Grainger star, with Emun Elliott, Steven Robertson, Lauren Lyle, Gregor Selkirk, and Katie Dickie. Take a look.

The Witch screens this Friday and Saturday nights (September 14th and 15th) at midnight at the Tivoli Theater as part of their ‘Reel Late at the Tivoli’ Midnight series.
When Michael Haffner reviewed The Witch here at We Are Movie Geeks in 2015, he wrote: “…..The Witch drips with dread. What it lacks in scares, it makes up for in genuine fear. It’s the fear of the unknown; the fear of losing your family’s trust; and the fear of living in a world where religious rule is just as terrifying as what’s lurking deep in the woods.” (read all of Michael’s review Here)
