In 2015 Joel formed 13th Street Films. That year, Joel created the short film Jehovah in collaboration with Griffith University. This film has been selected to a dozen festivals around the world including the Noosa Film Festival. At the No Small Stories Film Festival in Sydney Jehovah was runner-up in the inaugural competition in March 2016 and won best comedy in the UK Monthly Film Festival.
In 2016 Joel won the Canon Film Grant Competition. The prizes included winning a Canon C100 Mark ii for his University, and a $10,000 Grant to direct and create a short film he wrote.
Joel's 2017 graduate film Ascension is now beginning its film festival run. This film was the most awarded at the Griffith University film awards receiving 9 nominations and 3 wins.
Joel recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Film and Media. His web-series Life Series also won Best Web-Series at the Australian Screen Industry Network awards 2017. Currently in production is the hilarious ensemble comedy series Summer School coming 2018.
