Star soccer player Megan Rapinoe has publicly criticized Korbin Albert, a young midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain (Psg) and the U.S. Women’s National Team (Uswnt), for her propagation of anti-lgbtq content and posts that mocked Rapinoe’s career-ending Achilles injury.
The two-time World Cup winner released a strong statement in response to Albert’s social media activity that expressed her disappointment and called for greater inclusivity and respect within the sport.
Albert, a 20-year-old midfielder who previously played for Notre Dame before she went professional in France, came under scrutiny when fans noticed that she had reposted several pieces of anti-lgbtq content on her TikTok account. Additionally, one fan discovered that Albert had liked a post that made light of Rapinoe’s ankle injury in her farewell game.

“Good afternoon, I’m Dana Bash, and welcome to Inside Politics,” announced the ever-dependable Heidi Gardner at the promising top of Saturday Night Live’s clearly politically inclined cold open tonight. “Later, we’ll give Wolf Blitzer an edible and an hour to solve the Middle East.”

By 2018, Will Compton, a 28-year-old backup linebacker on a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans, knew his playing days were numbered. Contemplating a career after football, he considered going into real estate or coaching but couldn’t muster much enthusiasm for either. Driving home after a game one evening, he called Taylor Lewan, an offensive tackle for the Titans and his closest friend on the team, with whom he’d just done a postgame segment on Titans Radio. The two, who had bonded over their fondness for podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience, had undeniable chemistry on the air, and the experience got them thinking about starting their own podcast. For Lewan, who had just signed a six-year deal with the Titans, it sounded like a fun time. For Compton, it was a go-for-broke career plan. The following year, they launched Bussin’ With the Boys.

The subject of endless sports talk over the past few weeks, Golden State Warriors locker room leader Draymond Green spoke out today about his recent 12-game suspension for taking a swing at Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic during a game on Dec. 13.
Green has been suspended four times since March. His most recent involuntary time away came just six games after he served a five-game suspension without pay for “escalating an on-court altercation” putting Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a headlock. Needless to say, the sports talk machine has been in overdrive parsing the incidents and the details of the four-time NBA champion’s most recent transgression.
The Warriors are a cornerstone franchise in the current NBA with four recent titles, a groundbreaking style of play and, oh, the greatest shooter in the history of the game (Stephen Curry). Green’s stats may not be gaudy, but he is...

Singer-songwriter Beyonce and Jay-Z looked every bit the Hollywood power couple, as they posed up a storm at LeBron James’ star-studded birthday bash. The ‘Halo’ hitmaker and ‘Empire State of Mind’ rapper were amongst an A-list guest list. ‘Someone Like You’ songstress Adele was in attendance, joined by thought-to-be husband Rich Paul, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.
Comedian Kevin Hart and NBA star Draymond Green were also among famous faces at the glitzy get-together. But it was Beyonce that turned heads with a mesmerising ensemble, dazzling guests with sparking accessories and bright clothing that emulated Barbie.

There is a snippet of “The Illiad, or The Poem of Force,” Simone Weil’s 1940 essay about the blind poet Homer’s Trojan War epic, that has always stuck with me: “The progress of the war in the Iliad is simply a continual game of seesaw. The victor of the moment feels himself invincible, even though, only a few hours before, he may have experienced defeat; he forgets to treat victory as a transitory thing.”

President Joe Biden faced tough competition for media attention when giant panda Tian Tian joined his press conference during Saturday Night Live’s cold open for this weekend’s Jason Momoa-hosted episode.
SNL kicked off its latest installment with a sketch poking fun at Biden’s recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping that included discussion of China’s plan to send more pandas to the U.S. as three are currently making their way back to the Asian nation after having resided in Washington’s National Zoo. Castmember Bowen Yang played one of those pandas, Tian Tian, and he successfully upstaged Mikey Day’s Biden.
“This meeting was a total win,” Day said as Biden. “Sure, we made agreements about communications, fentanyl, climate change — but most importantly, we got the thing America really needs right now: more pandas.”

It was “Trolls” night on “The Masked Singer” this week and, just like you can’t stop the feeling, you also can’t stop an elimination from coming. So, that meant the end of the road for another contestant — the largest contestant ever, in fact.
Of course, we’re talking about the costume itself, not the man underneath it. Wednesday night’s episode introduced the final wild card, with Cuddle Monster busting out of a cage and the panelists marveling at just how big the monster was.
Panelist Jenny McCarthy immediately noted she was getting vibes that an athlete was under the mask, and in the end, she was right. Because, at the end of the night, Cuddle Monster was revealed to be … Metta Sandiford-Artest, formerly known as Metta World Peace.
Sandiford-Artest is best known for playing 19 seasons in the NBA, and helping the Lakers earn their 2010 championship win.

It’s Michael Imperioli with the steal, as the NBA has enlisted the actor from The Sopranos to hype the league’s first in-season tournament, which begins Nov. 3.
The in-season tournament – borrowed from similar ones in European soccer – is intended to create excitement in the least-exciting part of the regular season. Winning team players will get $500,000 apiece as incentive, which means they may play defense. The teams will wear different uniforms and have different floors to play on.
The initial marketing, released Wednesday, is a nearly 2-minute spot that borrows its theme from the Ocean’s 11 caper film. It features Imperioli narrating how seven players — Anthony Davis, Trae Young, DeMar DeRozan, Julius Randle, Kawhi Leonard, Darius Garland and Draymond Green — plot to steal the NBA Cup.
“We’ve launched what we believe is a comprehensive and engaging program to promote this new tournament,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Wednesday. “We...

The Lakers also reached a deal for guard D’Angelo Russell to return on a two-year, $37 million deal, ESPN reported. The Lakers also signed free agent cente Jaxson Hayes.
The deals keep General Manager Rob Pelinka’s promise to keep his team’s young core together. Pelinka is eyeing the future, when 38-year-old LeBron James is likely to no longer be with the team. James’s contract runs through the 2024-2025 season.

Four years ago, 15-year-old Victor Wembanyama celebrated his appearance in the Fiba Europe U16 European Championship tournament by opening an official Instagram account, one that he or his people (or both) maintain to this day. The first post was a small collage of him and his teammates playing for Team France. A push-shot Wemby, as he is colloquially known; a shot block; a pic of him and his fellow Frenchmen cheesing for the camera and getting a group flex in. The first comment, posted all those years ago, from ‘Stratton_05,” is a goat emoji.

Peter Nicks’ documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated, premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, begins with NBA Hall-of-Famer Reggie Miller reading from a withering scouting report for Stephen Curry. The report, written about the Davidson star ahead of the NBA draft, questions Curry’s athleticism, his size and his ability to withstand the physicality of the professional game.
Nearly two hours later, the documentary ends with Miller hailing the way Curry and his style of play single-handedly changed the NBA.
Based on those bookends, it’s easy to predict every beat of Underrated. One might assume this will be yet another film about an athlete who was able to parlay a chip-on-the-shoulder attitude into greatness, complete with a predictable assortment of talking heads including various members of the Warriors dynasty, perhaps a legend or two and regular appearances from Curry’s wife, Ayesha, for humanizing.
Underrated turns out not to be that documentary at all.

Exclusive: Rtg Features (Alaskan Nets) and Msm (The Last Dance) have tapped David Charles Rodrigues (Neymar: The Perfect Chao) to direct a new feature doc about the high-scoring NBA trio of Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin—collectively known as Run Tmc—and how they set the stage for the present-day dynasty of the world-champion Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Led by Hall of Fame coach Don Nelson, Run Tmc showcased “Nellie Ball” and ushered in the modern NBA. While the two brief seasons that Hardaway, Richmond and Mullin played together from 1989-1991 didn’t yield any championships, they birthed life-long friendships. Billed as “the most fun fun sports doc of all time”, the as-yet-untitled feature will be a three-man weave combining basketball, hip-hop, the Bay Area and late-’80s/early-’90s nostalgia.
Mason Gordon will produce for Msm, with Rtg Features acting as the studio.

LeBron James didn’t mince words in the latest episode of his talk show series “The Shop: Uninterrupted,” calling out fans of the Boston Celtics as being “racist as f—.”
In response to a question from Maverick Carter on the HBO series, James said Boston was among his least favorite places to play, despite being a partial owner of the Boston Red Sox. He said that it’s something he’s come to deal with on the court, and that his wife has been dealing with it for a long time.
“I don’t mind it. I hear it, if I hear someone close by, I check them real quick. I move onto the game, whatever the f—,” James said. “They going to say whatever the f— they want to say. They might throw something. I got a beer thrown on me leaving a game.”

Taking down the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals in the Massachusetts metropolis last night, the Golden State Warriors cemented their dynasty with their fourth championship in the past decade.
Now well ensconced in the pantheon of basketball, the big win for Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and their teammates, plus coach Steve Kerr may be all the sweeter after the past two seasons when it looked like the shine was off the Bay Area team. Celebrating with trophy in hand on the floor of the Td Garden in Boston on Thursday, the Warriors and New England born team bosses Peter Gruber and Joe Lacob were gleaming with pride and exhilaration.
Having weathered rough ratings seas over the past two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, ABC must be feeling pretty victorious, at least in the short term. They had the most watched show of Thursday’s primetime,...
