A guy from Jersey has magically transformed into a guy from Australia.
On Wednesday, Netflix released the first footage of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, the series lead role the Aussie actor has taken over from Henry Cavill, in “The Witcher” Season 4.
In the short clip, Geralt is leading his horse, Roach, through a dark and dreary landscape. We see the back of his iconic white-blond head. And as he turns around, he looks familiar but different.
Cavill departed the hit fantasy series after Season 3, and Hemsworth was brought in to replace him. It remains to be seen if and how Geralt’s new appearance is addressed.
“The Witcher” has already been renewed for a fifth and final season, which will shoot back-to-back with Season 4. Season 4 is in production in the U.K. now.

Attention, “The Witcher” fans: A new Geralt of Rivia has officially arrived, courtesy of Netflix’s first look at Season 4 of its popular fantasy series. The image unveils Liam Hemsworth as Geralt for the first time. Henry Cavill played the character during the first three seasons of “The Witcher,” and “The Hunger Games” veteran is now taking over the part for the final two seasons.
Netflix shocked “The Witcher” fans in October 2022 when it announced Cavill would be departing the show after the third season, which aired in summer 2023 in two parts. Cavill’s exit coincided with news that he would be returning to the DC Universe on the big screen as Superman, although the announcement was premature as plans for his Man of Steel return for eventually nixed.

More photos from the set of The Witcher season 4 have been shared online, and this time we have an actual first glimpse of Liam Hemsworth suited-up as Geralt of Rivia!
The recent third season of Netflix's fantasy adventure series was original Geralt actor Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel star announced his decision to part ways with the streamer's adaptation of the best-selling novels back in 2022.
Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as the titular monster hunter from season 4 on, and a recent photo from the set featured his stunt-double Joel Adrian in-costume. Adrian looked enough like Hemsworth to fool a lot of people, but these snaps spotlight the man himself.
The photos show Hemsworth as Geralt doing battle with Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), and appear to be recreating a scene from season 3 which saw the mage emerge victorious. There is also one shot of Geralt...

Geralt of Rivia’s story has an end date on Netflix.
On Thursday, the streaming service renewed The Witcher for Season 5, but revealed that it would be the last season.
The shocking announcement comes as production is finally getting underway on The Witcher Season 4 following countless setbacks.
“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate Season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” showrunner Lauren Hissrich shared in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”
Saying goodbye to the hit fantasy drama will be tough, but at least we have two seasons that will help soften the blow.

"The Witcher" season 4 has a major challenge on its hands with the recasting of its main character. After three seasons in blond wigs and leather, Henry Cavill has departed the Continent and Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games") will be taking over his role. "The Witcher" EP Tomek Bagiński has said that the change won't just be glossed over, promising "we have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt" that is "very, very close to the meta ideas which are deeply embedded in the books."
Whatever the plan is, it seems that Netflix is satisfied with its execution -- at least enough to green light "The Witcher" season 5. The official account for the series on X (formerly known as Twitter) showed the cast assembling for a season 4 table read and announced a fifth and final season still to come. When The Witcher season 4 starts streaming on Netflix, our hero Geralt of Rivia is going to have a whole new look. That’s because Henry Cavill is no longer involved, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt. Today, Deadline has revealed that Hemsworth is being joined in the cast of The Witcher season 4 by Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix and the John Wick franchise), who will be playing a character named Regis.
If you’re like me and don’t have any familiarity with the Witcher franchise outside of the Netflix show, chances are that the first person you think of when you see the name Regis is Regis Philbin. But, of course, Fishburne’s casting on this show is not going to require any sort of Philbin impression. Instead, the Regis character he’ll be playing is someone who was introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire.

Billy the Kid will be back on TV screens very soon.
MGM+ this week that Billy the Kid Season 2 will debut on Sunday, October 15, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.
There is a little bit of a catch:
Four episodes of the season will air this year, with the final four being held until 2024.
A reason for the decision has not been revealed, but there's a good chance it has something to do with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] With The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 now out, fans know how Henry Cavill‘s last appearance as Geralt of Rivia was staged. In the video above, we’re looking back at the full season with The Witcher stars as they shared their favorite sets and filming locations for the Netflix fantasy series’ third installment. For MyAnna Buring (who plays Tissaia), the answer was simple. “Aretuza sets are always my favorite, always,” she declared. “I mean, they’re usually where I hang out. But I have to say, in this season, oh boy, Slovenia.” “Slovenia was incredible,” added Therica Wilson Read, who plays Sabrina. “Absolutely wild,” Buring echoed, noting that there was “one particular [castle] set” that stood out in her memory. Joey Batey (Jaskier), Freya Allan (Cirilla), and Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) shared next, but they didn’t see eye to eye on one particular location. “We all loved Wales,...

Spoiler Alert: This recap contains spoilers for “The Witcher” Season 3, Part 2, now streaming on Netflix.
“The Witcher” fans knew Season 3 would be bittersweet. It’s the final installment of the Netflix fantasy series before Henry Cavill, who has starred as famed monster hunter Geralt of Rivia since Season 1, is replaced by Liam Hemsworth in an unexpected shake-up.
Beginning in Season 4, Hemsworth will be donning Geralt’s swords, Witcher medallions and long, white locks, while the rest of the cast remains intact — except, of course, for those characters who died in Season 3, Part 2’s bloody battles.
Since the recasting was announced, fans have been wondering how the switch from Cavill to Hemsworth will happen. Would Hemsworth appear in the Season 3 finale? Would some kind of spell change Geralt’s Cavill-esque appearance into something more Hemsworth-ian? How would Geralt’s relationships with Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), Ciri (Freya Allen) and Jaskier (Joey Batey) be affected?...

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "The Witcher" and the source material.
Henry Cavill's three-season run as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's "The Witcher" has been nothing short of thrilling and eventful. Cavill, a long-time fan of the source material and the video game adaptations it spawned over the years, assumed the role of the gruff-voiced monster slayer with appropriate gusto and dedication. Like all good things that end at some point, Cavill's portrayal of Geralt is set to end with Volume II of the latest season, with Liam Hemsworth filling his shoes in the journey beyond. While this is old news, "The Witcher" showrunners have repeatedly promised that Cavill's sendoff will be grand and heroic, one worthy of the character's legacy and Cavill's contribution to the Netflix series. Unfortunately, this is not the case: Season 3 ends Geralt's journey on a painfully underwhelming note, giving the actor almost...

Whichever way "The Witcher" (say that three times fast!) elects to send off Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia, Netflix's marketing team is certainly pulling out all the stops. The streamer has released a second and final trailer for season 3 volume 2 just a few days ahead of its arrival, complete with all the trimmings "Witcher" fans could ask for. There's even a line or two of dialogue that all but explicitly nods to Cavill's impending departure from the show. It's almost enough to give you a lump in your throat, in-between the clips of our treasured grouchy monster hunter dad going all stabbity-stabbity on his enemies.
"We didn't come this far just to abandon each other," Geralt growls at one point. "Then don't abandon me," Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) replies, as the trailer shows Geralt and his "dear friend" holding back tears. It's not all vulnerable admissions and earnest sentiment,...
