Dubai-based Front Row Filmed Entertainment has acquired all Middle East and North Africa rights to Oman-set drama “The Falconer,” co-directed by Adam Sjöberg and Seanne Winslow. The movie has been billed as the first international feature film shot entirely in the sultanate.
“Falconer” is a tale of two teenagers from different worlds, one a local villager named Tariq, the other a white Westerner named Cai, who are best friends. Together, they steal and sell zoo animals to raise money for the local boy’s sister to pay for a divorce from an abusive marriage.
Pic is produced by the directors and David Jacobson (“The Butler”) who sold the film directly to Front Row. Shot in both English and Arabic and starring newcomers Rami Zahar, Rupert Fennessy, and Noor Al Huda, “Falconer” had its world premiere at the Heartland International Film festival in Indianapolis, where it won the “Best Premiere” award.

Images can be a weapon, voice, tool of criticism, and a vehicle for awareness, and for painter Sun Mu, his work falls into all those categories. He takes center stage in the upcoming documentary "I Am Sun Mu," which tells his incredible story as an artist who uses his skills to speak out against the government that trained him. Directed by Adam Sjöberg, the documentary tells the story of Sun Mu — a pseudonym which means "no boundaries" — a North Korean defector who used to create work for the regime, who escaped the country, and now uses those same talents to depict his troubled life in the world's most reclusive and repressive state, while also creating images of hope. However, Sun Mu remains fearful, for his family still in North Korea (in the documentary, his face is never shown) and his past isn't so easy to shake off. "Every time I step on those names,...

It’s strange to think that there was a time, not too long ago, when hip-hop wasn’t considered “real” music. The rhythms and beats are now so ingrained in our culture, that music would be severely lacking without it. Hip-hop has stretched far beyond the confines of the United States seeping into every corner of the globe. The stories told through the music inspire those whose lives are far more devastating than we could ever imagine. The songs we blast through our open windows, and the movements that have inspired us for the last several decades, are the same ones they gravitate towards. Hip-hop has connected us all. Directed by journalist turned filmmaker Adam Sjöberg, and...

From executive producer and Grammy-nominated rapper Nasir “Nas” Jones and journalist-turned-filmmaker Adam Sjöberg comes the buoyant, globe-trotting film "Shake The Dust." The documentary chronicles the influence of breakdancing, exploring how it strikes a resonant chord in the slums, favelas and ghettos of the world and far beyond with a universally-appealing energy. As has been documented on this site, within the African continent, there are communities that have confronted established social structures, through this form of lyrical and dance expression, in order to challenge social inequality, and to push for social change. There have even been...

Bond/360 has acquired U.S. distribution rights to "Shake the Dust," a documentary executive produced by rapper Nasir "Nas" Jones and directed by journalist-filmmaker Adam Sjöberg. "Shake the Dust" takes an international look at hip-hop, rap and b-boys, as it follows the disciplines through four countries (Colombia, Cambodia, Uganda and Yemen). All set to an eclectic mix of rap -- some vintage, some Cambodian, some brand new (hot out of the oven from Jones himself) -- the film explores the power, the free expression, the hope, the sense of family and the impetus for social change that comes along with music and movement. "'Shake the Dust's' diverse depictions of breakdancing around the globe encourages the audience to share the exuberant positivity of the many cultures featured in the film who have embraced this traditionally American art form and made it their own," said Bond/360's Marc Schiller. "Adam Sjöberg beautifully depicts.
