“Willy’s Chocolate Experience” was advertised as an “immersive” event for guests. Families came with their children, ready to have fun at the event based on Ronald Dahl’s book, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Hosted by the House of Illuminati in Glasgow, Scotland, guests expected a fantastical experience that would “create lasting memories.”
However, it was anything but that. Guests arrived at a relatively empty warehouse with a few props and backdrops, nothing like the images advertised online. It was later revealed that the images, showing a whimsical, colorful show, were AI-generated.
Photos from the event quickly circulated on social media. Actors and performers hired for the event also shared their confusion in videos posted to TikTok. The event angered parents, many of whom called the police.

Welcome to another “Preview Reel” column, where we look at the week’s upcoming wide release movies. Every year, the Fourth of July holiday always provides movie going audiences with some of the year’s biggest blockbusters, and while this year might seem a little tamer than years past, there are still some interesting options. David Yates looks to put his own spin on the classic Tarzan tale with The Legend of Tarzan, Steven Spielberg brings Ronald Dahl’s classic book to life with The Bfg, and the Purge gets political with Purge: Election Year.
The Legend of Tarzan
What we are excited about:
Harry Potter is one of the most successful movie franchises of all time, so it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. would trust veteran Harry Potter director David Yates with another one of their summer tentpoles. Yates directed the last four Potter installments, including the best received of the series,...

Remakes have been a big part of the film industry ever since the silent era. As part of our ongoing series, Cinelinx looks at the remake of a beloved classic kid’s film to see how it compares to the original. This week, we look at Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) on its tenth anniversary.
In the last article, we talked about how the choice of actors can improve a remake. Sometimes it’s not even a question of a good actor or a bad actor. It’s about the right actor, and the choices he/she makes in the role. In this week’s article, we focus on how the wrong actor can spoil a remake.
