Ah, Big Brother. The true love-it-or-hate-it of television. Ever since it started in 2000, it's been one of the most divisive programmes ever to make it onto the box, so there was no real surprise at the outcry when the National Trust announced it would be opening it to the public for two days only. 'How could a British institution give such credence to Big Brother?' the cry went, with even Ann Widdecombe huffing about the horror of the news.
But is that really fair? Digital Spy obviously jumped at the chance to visit the house at last night's gala launch - attended by former housemates alternately gasping at how much of a "headspin" it was to be back (Charlie Travers) or grinning and bouncing with excitement about being able to press buttons they were banned from touching before (Callum Knell).

Big Brother hopeful Sophie Lawrence has had an angry rant at co-star Dexter Koh after he interfered in a long-running house debate about sharing cigarettes.
Dexter approached Wolfy Millington about her possibly sharing her cigs with some of the fellow smokers. Millington said that she was disappointed Sophie and Gina Rio didn't approach her directly after Dexter said that he was acting on their behalf.
An annoyed Sophie said: "Oh my God. We didn't tell you to ask her though."
Later she added: "We didn't even ask you to do it, Dexter.
"You are a f**king s**t stirrer. Everyone has said it to you. You go about to everyone causing f**king trouble. You have caused trouble between us tonight.
"You've gone to Wolfy and asked for a fag. You came to her and said that we asked you to get a fag. We did not ask you to do f**k all!

Big Brother's Jemima Slade said she was surprised at the level of booing she received on exiting the house tonight (June 28).
The 41-year-old was beaten in the public vote by Dexter Koh, becoming the second to leave the current series after Sallie Axl last week.
Asked by Emma Willis if she had expected the hostile response she received from the crowd, Jemima admitted: "I didn't think I would get that many boos."
She went on to insist that the other housemates had expected her to stay, including her opponent Dexter: "He really thought he was going tonight. Everybody did... Most of them wanted me to stay as well."
Discussing the reasons for her being nominated, she suggested that "some people found... [her] a bit controlling".
"The days are so, so long," she continued, explaining that it was "so intense" in the house and that "you can't fart without no-one knowing...

Jemima Slade has been evicted from Big Brother 2013.
The 41-year-old lost out in the public vote to 'social chameleon' Dexter Koh.
She is the second to leave this year's series, following Sallie Axl last Friday.
After the announcement, Jemima hugged the others in the house, saying to her opponent: "Well done Dexter."
"I'm gonna see my family," she added excitedly, before exiting to a largely booing crowd.
The evictee was involved in controversy early in the series, receiving a formal warning for making comments which Gina Rio thought might have been racist. Ofcom was later contacted by more than 150 viewers stating that the warning was not needed as the comments were not racist.
Over 75% of Digital Spy readers voted for the matchmaking website owner to go this week.

Big Brother's Wolfy Millington has had an angry rant at show rival Charlie Travers about comments she made regarding "feeling fat".
Charlie told her housemates in the bedroom that she felt "fat" and revealed that she used to be "a lot fatter", but her remarks angered the 20-year-old student.
Listening in to Charlie's comments, Wolfy responded: "A lot fatter? What's that? Have you ever been my size? Be honest. Exactly."
When Charlie argued that the subject was "relative", Wolfy ranted: "It's not. Being fat isn't relative. It's about being above average, which in the UK is above a size 14.
"Don't use the word fat. It really grates on me. I wake up to this everyday. You don't."
Charlie tried to ease the tension, commenting: "It's not about that, it's about me feeling insecure in myself. It's not a comparison or anything like that. I just don't feel comfortable in my own skin.

On Friday night another Big Brother housemate will be evicted and sent packing into anonymous showbiz oblivion. Dexter Koh and Jemima Slade are the duo fighting it out to survive after Gina Rio was saved by viewers last night (June 26).
Dexter has pleaded with viewers to save him this week, describing himself as 100 per cent real.
"They should vote to evict Jemima because everything I have done on this show has been real," he said.
"I have not double-crossed anyone and I am under no illusion that I'm a winner but I am just here for the experience."
Jemima responded with her own plea to viewers. "Save me because I still haven't got to show what I'm all about," she said.
"I think Dexter should go because he creeps up behind people and chats among the groups. I have been real from day one. Save me and evict Dexter!"

Big Brother's Gina Rio has been saved from this week's eviction.
She was up against Dexter Koh and Jemima Slade after the trio collected the highest number of housemate nominations.
However, as she received the fewest public votes to evict she has been taken out of the running for elimination.
It will now be between Dexter and Jemima, who were each given a 30-second appeal to the public on why they should be saved and why their opponent should be voted out.
During his appeal, Dexter stated: "I have never said anything bad about anybody behind their back."
Jemima said that she should stay as she is just being herself, adding "Dexter should go because he creeps up behind everybody and chats amongst the groups."
The next eviction will take place on Friday (June 28) from 9pm on Channel 5.
