Sometimes it pays to go into an episode of The Voice with low expectations — yes, even if it’s the Semi-Finals. After last week’s Live Playoffs saw (heard?) numbers originally performed by Corinne Bailey Rae, Ariana Grande and the Backstreet Boys massacred by since-eliminated contestants, I — and what’s that, you say? You, too? — lowered the bar ahead of Monday’s sing-off. But it turned out that for the most part, we hadn’t needed to. Read on, and we’ll discuss why…

Just as Gold Derby predicted, the winner of “The Voice” Season 19 was Carter Rubin. This 15-year-old pop singer of Team Gwen Stefani beat out two members of Team Blake Shelton, Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan, who had to settle for second and third place, respectively. After the confetti fell on “The Voice” finale, fans online started speculating about whether Jim and Ian split the vote, helping Carter to an easy victory. It’s not a bad theory. After all, these two country/rock artists both appealed to similar audiences.

On “The Voice” season 19 finale on Tuesday, Carter Rubin pulled off a win, He gave coach Gwen Stefani her first victory after five seasons as a coach. But in our overnight poll, Rubin did not merit a majority of votes from “The Voice” fans when asked who should have won season 19.
Rubin had the support of only 43% of those weighing in wanted to win, which means 57% of “The Voice” viewers think he did not deserve the win. Of the other artists in the Top 5, Blake Shelton‘s two contenders — runner-up Jim Ranger and third-place finisher Ian Flanigan — did the best, polling 14% and 22% respectively. The Season 19 finale of The Voice shouldn’t have been suspenseful. Like, at all. Based on your enthusiastic support of Team Gwen Stefani’s junior achiever Carter Rubin in the polls that have followed our recaps, he had the victory in the bag. A nice one, even, with tissue paper and a bow.

On “The Voice” finale on Monday, the Top 5 artists performed two solos apiece. The goal for each contestant was to get the most votes by Tuesday at 7 a.m Et/4 a.m. Pt. Because of the changes to production due to the Covid-19 pandemic, producers dropped the five-times vote multiplier generated by the Apple Music bonus. In its place, we’ve discovered that YouTube views of the performances are an excellent way of predicting “The Voice” season 19 winner.
We can report the following Top 5 results: Carter Rubin from Team Gwen Stefani dominates the viewership charts. His cover of the Miley Cyrus hit “The Climb” has registered more than 127,000 views of this writing. And his winner’s single, “Up From Here,” has topped 57,000 views. Rubin is the only one of the five artists still in contention to register more than 150,000 views combined. Such success reinforces his frontrunner status to win season 19 of “The Voice.

“The Voice” fans have until Tuesday morning to cast their votes for who they want to win Season 19, with all four coaches still in the running. Team Blake Shelton is represented by two artists, Ian Flanigan and Jim Ranger, while the others have a single contestant left: Carter Rubin for Team Gwen Stefani, Desz for Team Kelly Clarkson and John Holiday for Team John Legend. It’s no secret Blake has the most loyal “Voice” out there — after all, he’s won a leading seven times now — so both Ian and Jim will no doubt receive votes. But since these two country/rock artists have similar audiences, might they end up splitting the Team Blake vote, paving way for someone else to claim victory?
Last season Blake also had two singers in the finale, Todd Tilghman and Toneisha Harris, and they ended up coming in first and second place, respectively.

The Top 5 artists on “The Voice” sang three songs apiece on the two-hour finale on Monday, December 14. They performed a cover of a classic and an original tune. The goal for each of these would-be winners of season 19 is to earn the most votes in the overnight voting. Who do you predict will win “The Voice” on December 15?
Veteran coach Blake Shelton is looking for his record eighth win as a coach and he has two well-regarded artists (Ian Flanigan and Jim Ranger) in the final. Kelly Clarkson has won three of her first five seasons as a coach on “The Voice” and has a strong contender in DeSz. John Legend is the only other coach to win since Kelly came on board; he is hoping that John Holiday will get him that bookend. And Gwen Stefani is hoping that Carter Rubin will finally land her that elusive first win.

John Legend is the only other coach to win since Kelly came on board; he is hoping that John Holiday will get him that bookend. And Gwen Stefani is hoping that Carter Rubin will finally land her that elusive first win.

Though our current predictions suggest otherwise, John Legend heads in to this week’s “The Voice” finale with a decent chance of claiming his second trophy as a coach. To do so he and his last standing artist, John Holiday, will need to overcome their current 100/1 odds in our derby. Below we run down Holiday’s performances and consider how he could best Carter Rubin, the frontrunner from Team Gwen Stefani, as well as Team Kelly Clarkson‘s Desz and both artists from Team Blake Shelton, Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan, to win in a shocking upset.
Shocking the coaches is exactly how Holiday began the season. On the premiere episode it took three words (“Look at me…”) for Legend to turn his chair for the opera singer, and in doing so blocked he Kelly who was doubly shocked to learn she’d been blocked but also that it was...

“The Voice” finale will showcase the Top 5 singing live for America’s votes on Monday, December 14. Each of the five finalists — DeSz, Ian Flanigan, John Holiday, Jim Ranger and Carter Rubin — will get at least chances to sing on the two-hour show. They will do covers and original tunes.
In this final round of the season 19 competition, the coaches are not evenly matched. Blake Shelton, who has won seven of the first 18 seasons of “The Voice,” still has two artists in contention. The other three coaches — Kelly Clarkson (she’s won three of her five seasons to date), one-time winner John Legend and perennial also-ran Gwen Stefani-– have one apiece.
We’ve discovered spoilers on You Tube of the songs that the Top 5 will perform live on the season 19 finale. Take a look below at the titles of these tunes as well as the names of the artists that made them famous.

“The Voice” season 19 finale will take place over two nights this week on December 14 and December 15 on NBC. Singing for the championship on Monday night are at least one artist from each coach’s team: DeSz for Team Kelly Clarkson, John Holiday for Team John Legend, Carter Rubin for Team Gwen Stefani, and both Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan for Team Blake Shelton.
With only two weeks of Live Playoff performances under their belt — and only two weeks of seeing which artists earned the public’s vote — it’s tough to say with confidence which artist is best poised to win on Tuesday night. In the final predictions of this year’s derby, we’ve got Carter with the best combined odds to win at 16/5 currently. In the lead-up to “The Voice” finale on Monday December 14, we polled viewers to see who they want to win. Their clear favorite in our Top 5 rankings of the season 19 artists is Carter Rubin, who enjoys a sizeable lead with 43% of the total tally as of this writing. He is being coached by Gwen Stefani, who is still looking for her first victory.
However Rubin better watch out for Ian Flanigan, who is being coached by reigning seven-time champion Blake Shelton. At 22%, he has polled almost a quarter of the vote in our best to worst power rankings. Remember, Flanigan won the Top 9 Instant Save. That sudden death showdown gave him another chance to impress “The Voice” viewers with his vocals on the Travis Tritt tune “Anymore.”

Let the guessing games begin! As Season 19 of NBC’s The Voice hurtles toward its finales next week (performances Monday at 8/7c, results Tuesday at 9/8c), we’d love to say that we’re sure about who the winner is going to be. But over and over, every time we’ve thought that we had the frontrunner picked out, we’ve been proven so wrong as to practically redefine the word.
Of course, that isn’t going to stop us from making some predictions, it just means that nobody should put their money where our mouth is. (We wouldn’t even do that!

Is a long-standing “The Voice” curse about to be broken? If Blake Shelton‘s country singer Ian Flanigan ends up winning Season 19 during next week’s finale, he’ll make history as the first artist to prevail who was previously saved by Twitter. Since the instant save twist was first created in Season 6, no recipient has ever gone on to win “The Voice.” Britton Buchanan (Season 14) and Toneisha Harris (Season 18) came closest by each placing second behind their winners, but all of the other times the saved artist finished last in their respective finales.

Gwen Stefani is the only coach on the current panel of “The Voice” who hasn’t won a championship, but it looks like her luck is finally about to change.
