Big changes are coming to the world of the X-Men later this year, including the introduction of an officially sanctioned mutant strike force in X-Force.
Now, you can check out all-new variant covers for the debut issue including a group shot by Mahmud Asrar, the first in a series of character pinups by Marcus To, and a "Windowshades" variant cover by Luciano Vecchio.
In addition to Havok, Angel, Pyro, Frenzy, and Feral, the new variant covers also reveal two more recruits: reliable X-Man Dr. Cecilia Reyes and Xyber, a new character whose electronic-based powers are essential to the team's covert missions.
Whether they join for fame, money, or to truly make a difference, they'll band together against emerging mutant factions like the Mutant Underground and X-Term. But mutants know better than anyone to be wary of political machinations, and their loyalty will be tested right off the bat when they...

Whether it's the New Mutants or Hellions, discovering you're a mutant in the Marvel Universe has never been easy. In the wake of Krakoa, it’s going to be harder than ever, especially with the X-Men reintegrating themselves into society after the fall of their mutant nation.
Now, mutants around the world still need protection, community, and guidance. In Exceptional X-Men, a group of young mutants will be trained by two of the greatest teachers in X-Men history: Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost.
Written by acclaimed author Eve L. Ewing and drawn by superstar Marvel Stormbreaker artist Carmen Carnero, the series will be the final flagship X-Title to launch in the upcoming "From the Ashes" era. The series will introduce three all-new mutants who turn to Kitty and Emma for help with their emerging gifts: the metallic and whip-wielding Bronze, the emotion-stirring Axo, and the stealth-skilled fighter Melee.

This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97 episode 9.
Wolverine has always been a mystery, ever since he stalked the Hulk through the Canadian wilderness in his 1974 first appearance. Over the years, readers got occasional glimpses into his past, from his real name(s) to his shady black ops missions.
One of the most shocking reveals came in the aftermath to 1993’s X-Men #25, the climax of the crossover event Fatal Attractions, when an incensed Magneto ripped out Wolverine’s Adamantium skeleton.
X-Men ’97 has already run through some of the most important events in X-Men history, covering Inferno, Mutant Massacre, and E is for Extinction in the span of nine 22-minute episodes. But the series set up something much bigger when it pulled from Fatal Attractions in the penultimate episode of the first season, “Tolerance is Extinction Part Two.” By that episodes end, a desperate Magneto stops Wolverine the only way he knows how,...

There's only two more episodes of X-Men '97 to go, and Marvel Studios has released a clip from tomorrow's penultimate season 1 chapter, "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2."
The preview finds our mutant heroes suiting-up in new costumes for their impending battle with Bastion and his forces.
The outfits are a mixture of the team's classic looks, and the costumes they wore in the pages of The Uncanny X-Men. The clip also sees Jubilee burn Roberto DaCosta's business card, so Sunspot must have decided not to join the fight.
Former showrunner Beau DeMayo hinted at the costume change when he shared the unused pilot for Pryde of the X-Men earlier today.
DeMayo was also asked if he's ever heard any talk of adding Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat to the X-Men '97 roster.
"I haven’t, but my suspicion is Jubilee and Kitty slightly compete in terms of their age and Pov on the team.

Even if you’ve never read a single X-Men comic book in your life, you probably still know some of the big stories. The Dark Phoenix Saga, in which Jean Grey gets possessed by a world-destroying entity of unspeakable power. Days of Future Past, in which an X-Man from the future comes to the present to prevent the unthinkable. Weapon X, in which Wolverine is transformed into a killing machine.
These stories get told and retold in movies, cartoon shows, and video games, and with good reason. They’re among the best superhero stories ever written. But they’re hardly the only good stories in X-Men history. The team has existed since 1963, and while they didn’t hit their stride until writer Chris Claremont took over in 1974, that still leaves decades worth of complex, complicated issues to unravel.
But it need not be so complicated. If you want to get...

The two buzziest TV shows of 2024 so far are FX's "Shōgun," adapting James Clavell's 1975 book about an Englishman who winds up in 17th century Japan from novel to miniseries, and "X-Men '97," a revival of every millennial's favorite "X-Men" cartoon from 1992. But what if I told you there was a comic out there which combined the thrills of both these shows into one?
That comic is Hiroaki Samura's samurai manga "Blade of the Immortal." Set during Japan's Edo period, the titular immortal is Manji, a ronin with a checkered past. So checkered, in fact, that he was cursed by a witch with kessen-chū — "bloodworms," or grubs infused in his body that enable him to heal from almost any injury and keep Manji in his physical prime.
If you've been watching "Shōgun," you'll know how important honorable death was to warriors in feudal Japan, so Manji's immortality is not a gift.

Spoilers for "X-Men '97" to follow.
The latest episode of "X-Men '97," "Remember It," took us to mutant haven Genosha (before it all went to Hell anyway). The island turned out to be a treasure trove of cameos; the Genoshan ruling council included Hellfire Club leaders Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw, Morlock leader Callisto, the Irish mutant Banshee, Professor X's old flame Moira MacTaggert, and former Goblin Queen Madelyne Pryor. The streets of Genosha were filled with other mutants whom "X-Men" comics fans may recognize, from Pixie to Dazzler to Marrow to Exodus.
The best mutant cameo of all, though, is the blue-skinned Bavarian Kurt Wagner, aka Nightcrawler. His voice actor, Adrian Hough, joins the ranks of those who've reprised their roles from the 1992 "X-Men" cartoon.
Kurt shows up in the episode's title sequence doing some sword fighting with Gambit. In the episode itself, he escorts Rogue and Gambit...

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
Life has never been easy for the X-Men, or any mutant in the Marvel Universe. They’re feared and hated, oppressed just for being alive. They’re betrayed time and again, even by heroes who call themselves their friends.
But in the history of the X-Men, there are three stories that stand out as particularly heartbreaking: Mutant Massacre, E is for Extinction, and Fall of X. And the latest episode of X-Men ’97 just combined them all into one shocking half-hour full of deaths.
“Remember It” begins as a love letter to all things X-Men, as Magneto, Rogue, and Gambit head to the island nation of Genosha. Once the home of an oppressive human regime (modeled in the original comics after Apartheid South Africa), Genosha has become a home for mutants, a sovereign nation under mutant rule. Director Emi Yonemura and series creator Beau De Mayo...

After spending years as a respected leader of the sovereign mutant nation Krakoa, Cyclops is back on the run. With Krakoa destroyed and humanity ready to oppress mutants again, Cyclops has gone back home to Alaska to refresh and regroup.
And yet, things have never been better for Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops. The upcoming From the Ashes relaunch will force the X-Men back into the world after the end of Krakoa in the Fall of X storyline, with a new X-Men book with Cyclops in the lead.
“We wanted to start with Cyclops and wanted to bring him back to Alaska,” X-Men writer Jed MacKay tells Den of Geek during an exclusive interview at SXSW. “And from there we started thinking what his mission would be moving forward because he’s Cyclops, he always has the mission.”

The animated X-Men are about to make their return to TV in "X-Men '97." This Disney+ series is basically a thirty-year-late sixth season of 1992's "X-Men," the first cartoon about the Marvel Comics superhero team.
The "X-Men" comics kept chugging along through highs and lows while their animated counterparts were in limbo, though. At SXSW 2024, Marvel previewed the comics' future. A relaunch is coming to "X-Men" in Summer 2024 under the banner "From The Ashes," the follow-up to the ongoing "Fall of X." There'll be three primary series at first:
"X-Men" by Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman. Cyclops and Magneto will lead a traditional X-Men superhero team based in Alaska.
"Uncanny X-Men" by Gail Simone and David Marquez. "Outlaw" lovebirds Gambit and Rogue head to New Orleans with Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee in tow.

Most of the Marvel fandom has either been a part of or witnessed the everlasting debate about two of its iconic superhero groups, and Marvel Snap is set to settle the argument once and for all in its new update. In February, the digital card game primarily revolved around the Mad Titan Thanos and his support squad, but as the new season is ready for launch this week, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will face off against their Mutant frenemies.
Avengers vs X-Men has always been a hot topic among the comics fanbase, and since the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be taking a bit too long to adapt the massive 2012 crossover event, developer Second Dinner is taking matters into its own hands.

“Going to Hell for God is the logical end for the Catholic devil,” declares Matt Murdock in 2023’s Daredevil #12.
Matt Murdock isn’t the only religious superhero in the Marvel Universe. In addition to fellow Catholic Nightcrawler of the X-Men, there’s the Presbyterian Christian Wolfsbane, Muslim Ms. Marvel, pantheist Black Panther, and Jewish characters like Moon Knight and Kitty Pryde. But Daredevil might be the Marvel superhero whose religion plays the most pronounced role in his stories.
Of course, Daredevil isn’t the first Marvel hero to go to Hell and literally fight the Devil, as Ghost Rider, the X-Men, and anyone who had to deal with Mephisto can attest. But when it’s guilty Catholic Matt Murdock donning his Daredevil duds to deal with the Devil, then it’s a really big deal. The origins of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" begin with the X-Men. A young Joss Whedon read their comic adventures, penned by Chris Claremont, and cites them as an influence on his work; teen heroine Buffy Summers herself is in the vein of Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat.
From 2004 to 2008, Whedon wrote the ongoing comic "Astonishing X-Men," teaming up with artist John Cassaday. Consider the timeframe: "Buffy" and "Angel" had wrapped as classics, "Firefly" was a freshly canceled-too-soon martyr, and Whedon hadn't cracked into the blockbuster movie mainstream with "The Avengers" yet, and allegations of his abusive behavior on set hadn't yet been publicized. His writing an "X-Men" comic felt like nerdy stars aligning.
Is "Astonishing X-Men" worth checking out? It's short and self-contained, which are rare blessings in superhero comics. Whedon also works overtime to repair the reputation of Scott Summers/Cyclops. In the concurrent "X-Men" movies, he was used only...

When Star Trek returned to television screens after two decades in 1987, it looked very different from its predecessor. Gone were James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Bones, most of whom planned to return in the original sequel series Star Trek: Phase II. In their place stood a bald Shakespearean actor, the breakout star of the television miniseries Roots, and a member of Muppet creator Jim Henson’s team.
From those unlikely beginnings, Star Trek: The Next Generation grew to match and, for some, exceed the original series. Much of that success came from the cast, who had a far easier camaraderie than their predecessors and, some might argue, a more impressive resume. Before and after Trek, these actors became beloved figures in genre cinema and television, proving that they are even more than the crew who boldly went where no one had gone before.

For as long as I've known the X-Men, Rogue has been one of my favorite members of the team. It was her white-streaked hair and charming Southern Belle accent that first caught my notice, but what makes Rogue endure is her tortured soul.
Her untamed powers, to lethally absorb the vitality, memories, and superabilities of other people, prevent her from touching anyone; her first kiss put her boyfriend in a coma. So, she keeps herself closed off, too afraid of hurting others to get close to them — even her true love Gambit/Remy LeBeau. With this intersection of superpowers and characterization, Rogue shows how not all mutant powers are blessings. Due to underserved sex education in the United States, plenty of teens (especially queer ones) can relate to Rogue's fear that intimacy will cause calamity.
Now, most "X-Men" characters have complicated histories and Rogue is no different. Writer Chris Claremont...

The finale of "X-Men: Evolution" — titled "Ascension" — is mostly a triumphant one. The eponymous team successfully defeats En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse, sending the villain spiraling through the limbo of time. In the process, they stop his plan to turn all of mankind into mutants (and kill those who can't "ascend" in the process) and rescue Apocalypse's brainwashed Horsemen. Left without their mentor in their darkest hour, the teenage X-Men prove themselves more than mere students: true heroes.
The creators had plans for more before "Evolution" was canceled, and the closing moments reflect that. Professor X reveals that he glimpsed their shared futures in the mind of Apocalypse and that while the X-Men will endure, not all days ahead are happy ones. Thus, the series ends on a mood halfway between uplifting and melancholy.

20th Century Fox's Studios' third "X-Men" film changed a lot due to the departure of director Bryan Singer, who was replaced by Brett Ratner (the franchise trading one accused sex offender for another).
Part of Singer's unrealized plans for this trilogy capper, ultimately subtitled "The Last Stand," was to introduce a famous comic character played by an A-List star. Screenwriter Dan Harris, who left the project to work on "Superman Returns" with Singer, revealed back in 2004:
"We were going to do 'X-Men 3' for a little while and our big secret or coup was -- and it's not going to happen so it's Ok -- we wanted to have a character that was Emma Frost, a famous 'X-Men' character. She's called the White Queen. We were going to ask Sigourney [Weaver] to be it. She was an empath in our version of the movie, which means she could control people's emotions.

X2: X-Men United Adapted The God Loves, Man Kills Marvel Comic Arc, But It's Missing One Key Element
"X2: X-Men United" was released 20 years ago, and it remains easily the best of the original "X-Men" trilogy and one of the first hints that superhero movies were a Hollywood heavyweight. Even so, "X2" isn't free of the sin that many adaptations commit. Namely, not honoring the source material's spirit.
The most influential "X-Men" writer is Chris Claremont. He wrote the series from 1975 to 1991, rescuing the comic from obscurity in the process. He also gave the setting the political backbone for which it's now known. Stan Lee retroactively claimed he based Professor X and Magneto on Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, but read his "X-Men" stories and you won't find credence for that or much of a bite at all. Lee was, in the words of "Marvel Comics: The Untold Story" author Sean Howe, "a master fence-sitter."
Claremont, though, had a firmer spine. Magneto being a Holocaust survivor?...

During a tumultuous time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the third and final film in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy will (hopefully) arrive to save the day in a satisfying way. Our favorite band of A-holes are heading back to the big screen at the beginning of May for a new adventure together. Some lucky people have already seen the movie, thanks to the movie’s “European Gala” held at Disneyland Paris earlier this month, as well as the US screenings this week for critics. As you might expect, we now have plenty of thoughts about Gunn’s (presumably) final Marvel movie.
But first, a refresher on what’s going on in this one: in the upcoming Phase 5 threequel, the Guardians have pretty much settled down on Knowhere after the events of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, but when Rocket’s past resurfaces, Peter Quill...

Even after all the years since "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" premiered in 1997 — even with the recent controversy surrounding creator Joss Whedon — even as dated as some of the content and jokes are, the show endures as the forebearer to so many TV and film heroines. Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell), Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano), and Bo (Anna Silk) from "Lost Girl" all owe quite a bit to Buffy Summers.
Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) herself was influenced by a comic book character — Kitty Pryde of X-Men fame. Whedon called her "a huge proto-Buffy" in a 2005 interview with Time and "the mother of Buffy" in a Wired article from 2012. If any other Buffy fans want to take a moment to pour one out for Joyce Summers (Kristine Sutherland) — Buffy's actual mother — who died unceremoniously in the powerful episode "The Body," please do. I still have to skip that one during my rewatches of the series.

"Batman Beyond" is the most out-there project of the DC Animated Universe. It's not based on an existing comic and is instead an original take on Batman's future. Set in 2039, a long-retired, eighty-year-old Bruce Wayne trains the teenage Terry McGinnis to be the new Dark Knight.
An older Batman who'd hung up the cape and cowl wasn't a new idea; that was the whole idea behind Frank Miller's classic "The Dark Knight Returns." However, while Miller depicted Gotham as an urban gangland out of "The Warriors," "Beyond" went with a "tech-noir" setting à la "Blade Runner." This was new territory for Batman and a contrast with the art deco designs of "Batman: The Animated Series."
What to know something funny? This imaginative setting revamp was all incidental: what the WB network really wanted was a teenage Batman show, and setting the series in the future was how the creative team decided to achieve that.

Well, how about that? Deadpool 3 is going to bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine! Considering the big announcement centered around it and the claw-based logo, Marvel looks to be treating this as a major part of the movie and not a high-profile cameo like Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. They are outright selling us on the idea of a Deadpool/Wolverine team-up at the box office!
This is obviously not the first time we’ve seen these two together in the movies. Deadpool 3 will be coming out a sobering Fifteen Years after X-Men Origins: Wolverine, known as what not to do with the X-Men movie rights. The movie introduced a version of Deadpool that has been met with rightful mockery. Looks like Halle Bailey won't be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe—for now, at least. On Aug. 9, the singer, 22, shut down rumors that she was cast as Kitty Pryde in an upcoming X-Men film with one simple comment. After reading a tweet that suggested she's set to take on the role of the fictional superhero, Halle replied, "this is not true lmao." In fact, the tweet about the alleged casting included a link that had nothing to do with the film and instead spoke about the Chloe x Halle singer being named one of Variety's Power of Young Hollywood honorees, alongside Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, Angus Cloud and Becky G. While Halle won't be...

In the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, critics lobbied one consistent complaint against the franchise: no good villains. Sure, there was Loki and the Red Skull, but who else? Iron Monger was just Jeff Bridges’ head floating atop a CG robot, Maliketh the Dark Elf absolutely wasted the magnetic Christopher Eccleston, and the less said about Whiplash the better. Over the years, that complaint has diminished somewhat with the additions of Black Panther baddie Killmonger and the universe-destroying Thanos.
But even as the MCU continues to improve its roster of villains, there’s one irreplaceable bad guy fans are dying to see: the ruler of Latveria, Dr. Victor von Doom.
Doom’s Marvel Origin
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Doctor Doom made his first appearance in 1962’s Fantastic Four #5, immediately establishing himself as a formidable threat, with his green tunic and metallic mask. The six decades...

Ellen Page has posted a powerful essay on her Facebook page in which she responds to the numerous sexual harassment and assault allegations taking place in Hollywood by revealing her own history with abusive directors, and admitting that she is ashamed of working with such alleged predators as Woody Allen. According to Page, Brett Ratner made a homophobic slur to her during the first day of filming on “X-Men: The Last Stand,” where Page was starring as Kitty Pryde, and therefore outed her to the cast and crew.

There are certain tropes that are nearly universal in every effective X-Men story. The good ones are always full of soapy non-mutant backstories, melodramatic romance subplots, and visually interesting applications of powers. The longer The Gifted goes on, the more confident I am that the folks making it think the same things. This week's episode, eXit strategy, hit all four to great effect.
First and foremost, this was an action episode. The whole plot centred on breaking up a convoy carrying Reed Strucker and Polaris to a Sentinel Services black site to rescue them. We also got a look into Eclipse's background, and his history with a cartel boss's daughter; and follow...

“There’s a difference between being obsessed and being motivated,” Mark Zuckerberg blithely insists during the opening moments of “The Social Network.” But the thing about the characters in a David Fincher movie is that they never seem to know what that difference is. In fact, the same might be true of David Fincher himself. And thank God for that, because if the Denver native had any idea where to draw the line between determination and dementedness he probably would have left Hollywood after being fired off his first Hollywood feature. Three times.
Ever since he transitioned from visionary music video director to features, Fincher has established himself as one of the most idiosyncratic and indispensable voices of mainstream American cinema. Often described as “the next Kubrick” (even while Kubrick was still alive), Fincher is an unyielding perfectionist working within a deeply imperfect system. From “The Game” and “Fight Club...

Laura continues her journey into the larger Marvel Universe this issue teaming with everyone’s favourite space adventurers The Guardians Of The Galaxy. This is a new story arc that follows directly on from the previous ‘Immune’ arc. However there is enough information given to easily pick this issue up and enjoy it without having read the previous three. I can’t stress enough how much of a fan of three issue story arcs I am. I think I have mentioned it in every review so far. With all the guests stars that have appeared in the series so far Taylor does a brilliant job of keeping voices unique.

Synopsis: Giant-Size X-Men #1 was a special issue of the X-Men comic book series, published by Marvel Comics in 1975. It was written by Len Wein and illustrated by Dave Cockrum. Though not a regular issue, it contained the first new X-Men story in five years
My Background:
The X-Men are the first comic property I ever had any true interest in thanks to the 90’s cartoon series. So I own a debut of gratitude to this book because of what it did for the X-Men franchise. Without it my love of comics may never have started.
In addition I have read X-Men: Deadly Genesis that retconned the events of this story. In that storyline Professor Xavier is shown to be capable of some truly evil actions that I know caused some controversy at the time. Although that story...

The answer is: mostly, yes. Guggenheim is clearly an X-Men fan in his own right. He wears his geekdom on his sleeve, and there are so many subtle nods to the wider X-Men continuity here. Kitty Pryde calls in what she refers to as a T.F.S. – a Telekinetic Fastball Special – that will leave fans grinning. Old Man Logan gets in a few badass lines that are so very evocative of the Claremont era. Nightcrawler pays an unexpected visit to Madripoor. And yet, most admirably of all,...

Her portals play a key role in the X-Men’s fights against the Sentinels in the future (and look really cool), but she still dies twice, just like the rest of the mutants tasked with protecting Kitty Pryde while she sends people back in time. The movie undoes both of Blink’s deaths, and while it doesn’t show what happens to her after the big timeline change, at least she isn’t getting killed by giant robots in...

Who she is: Shadowcat, a.k.a. Kitty Pryde
Her power: Shadowcat can make herself and anything she touches incorporeal, allowing her to phase through solid objects. She can also send a person’s consciousness back in time as a type of temporal phase.
Her story: Kitty Pryde is one of the few mutant characters to go from a non-speaking cameo to a more prominent role between X-Men films. She phases through a wall in X-Men and through her during Col. Stryker’s raid on Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters in X2, but is given considerably more to do in X-Men: The Last Stand, where she becomes one side of the X-teen love triangle subplot. Kitty’s burgeoning friendship with Iceman fuels Rogue’s decision to take Worthington Labs’ mutant cure, almost entirely because Kitty is able to have the physical contact with Bobby that his girlfriend desperately...

After what’s felt like years of being left out in the cold, the House of Ideas is finally putting the X-Men back at the forefront of the Marvel Universe. Getting there hasn’t been that easy, but with a new line of titles being launched this month, fans of the mutants have plenty to get excited about.
Today saw the release of X-Men: Gold #1 (our review here), one of the core books revolving around characters like Kitty Pryde, Story, Old Man Logan and Colossus. However, after embarking on their first adventure, the gang finds themselves confronted by a brand new group claiming to be the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
The team has a storied history in the Marvel Universe and was originally led by Magneto. This version is a little different, however, as it contains some less than familiar faces.

It’s a good time to be an X-Men fan. In the wake of last week’s X-Men: Prime, Marc Guggenheim takes point as he launches X-Men Gold. This is the new flagship book of the X-Men franchise, and it kicks off in fine style.
Kitty Pryde delivers a speech. The X-Men play baseball. Logan (well, okay, Old Man Logan) gets sentimental, then tries to hide it. Guggenheim fully understands that X-Men fans are a nostalgic bunch, and he’s more than happy to give us the nostalgia buzz we’ve been long for. What pleases me, though, is that Guggenheim doesn’t simply channel Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men run (as I’d feared after reading X-Men: Prime). Instead, he shows familiarity with the whole X-Men franchise, with subtle nods to so many different eras.

It’s time for a new beginning. The last year’s been a difficult one for the X-Men; in the aftermath of Secret Wars, the mutant race was locked in a battle for survival against the Inhumans. All that finally came to a head in Inhumans vs. X-Men, a miniseries that drew a line under this period – and set the groundwork for something new.
So we move to X-Men: Prime, a one-shot that sets the stage for the X-Men’s next era. The issue united a number of key architects in the next wave of X-Men books; Marc Guggenheim, Greg Pak and Cullen Bunn as writers; Ken Lashley, Ibraim Robertson, Leonard Kirk and Guillermo Ortego as artists. It serves a simple purpose: to establish the bare-bones of the new status quo, essentially serving as an advertisement for everything that’s coming. The good news? It’s a tremendous success.

Back in 1963, Stan Lee created a new team of five heroes – Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel and Iceman – known as the X-Men, named after their mentor Charles Xavier. Little did he know then that the gang would go onto become one of Marvel’s most successful properties, and with that success came a blooming, ever-growing cast which has exploded to near-incalculable numbers over the years.
The 1970s, beginning the long reign of the great Chris Claremont, brought us the likes of Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus. The 1980s saw characters such as Kitty Pryde, Jubilee and Dazzler joining up, the 1990s introduced Cable, Bishop and Gambit, while the 21st century has given us Northstar, Armor, Warpath and others. And that’s not even mentioning the many villains who’ve crossed over to the good side over the years.
But who are the best X-Men members of all-time? We’ve whittled the...

Before James Gunn brought the Guardians of the Galaxy into the public eye with his Marvel Studios movie in 2014, those characters were pretty damn obscure — even for long-time comic book lovers. I'll be real: I hadn't heard of them before the movie was announced, and if you're anything like me, you haven't exactly had an abundance of time on your hands to sift through fifty years of comics to try to learn all about the team's history on the page. Good news: a new book called Guardians of the Galaxy: Creating Marvel's Spacefaring Super Heroes has already done all the work, and presents it all in a beautifully effective manner.
Did you know that zero members of what we know today as the Guardians' core team — Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot — made their comics debut in the pages of a Guardians comic book? This book taught me...
