U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 has announced several new commissions, including “The Birth of Daniel F Harris,” an eight-part drama by Pete Jackson (“One Normal Night”) from Clerkenwell Films, makers of the BAFTA-winning Netflix and Channel 4 show “The End of the F***ing World.”

Channel 4’s whole schedule will go Black on that day starting with a one-off special edition of “The Big Breakfast,” hosted by Mo Gilligan, BAFTA-winner for “The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan,” followed by some of the channel...

Channel 4 has commissioned its latest series from Clerkenwell Films, the producer behind its BAFTA-winning Netflix co-production The End Of The F***ing World.
Like Clerkenwell did with End Of The F***ing World’s Charlie Covell, the company is teaming with a relatively new writer, Pete Jackson (One Normal Night), to create gripping eight-part drama The Birth Of Daniel F Harris.
Here’s the premise: Danny was a baby when his mother was killed in a car crash. Overcome with grief, his father locked him away in a house, telling him the outside world is full of monsters that will spirit him away like his mother.
But when Danny turns 18 his whole world explodes in an instant and he has to come to terms with a new world he never knew existed. He also finds the real monster — the one that killed his mom.

Some of Ian Holm’s castmates from The Lord of the Rings movies are paying tribute to the actor who died today at 88. Holm played Bilbo Baggins in the first and last films in Peter Jackson celebrated early-2000s trilogy adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy novel.
Holm was an Oscar and two-time Emmy nominee who won a pair of BAFTA Awards and shared the SAG Award for the ensemble cast of 2003’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, which also won the Best Picture Oscar. Holm played an older Bilbo in two of Jackson’s The Hobbit films.
Among the Lotr alums posting remembrances to the late actor were Orlando Bloom (who played Legolas), Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Dominic Monaghan (Merry). We will update this page as more tributes are posted.

You have to spend money to make money. Warner Bros. is figuring that lesson out, for while Pete Jackson.s first film in the Hobbit trilogy certainly banked a healthy amount of cash, the series already has cost the studio more than the entire Lord of the Rings series did several years ago. These figures come to us via The AP, which reports that costs on the Hobbit franchise have reached .more than a half billion dollars so far,. or double the amount of money spent on the three Rings movies. The AP goes on to report: "That figure includes the major 266 days of filming with actors that was completed last year, although it doesn't include an additional two months or so of .pick-up. shoots done this year. There will likely also be additional post-production costs as the next two movies are completed.. Wow, even more costs on the way?...
