Mark Ruffalo has taken a turn. “I’m so sick of being so well-behaved,” he says. “I just want to take the ship as close to the reef as I can without actually crashing it. And maybe I’ll crash it too. I don’t give a sh*t anymore.”
It’s fair to say that prior to his Poor Things role, Ruffalo’s credits are littered with likeable men: Jen Garner’s lovely best friend Matt in 13 Going on 30; the right-side-of-justice Inspector Toschi in Zodiac; real-life environmental activist Rob Bilott in Dark Waters; the abuse-exposing journalist Mike Rezendes in Spotlight… Even his Marvel franchise Hulk is deeply loveable. That’s not to say Ruffalo’s work has been remotely one-note—the man has been Oscar-nominated four times—but there’s a quality of sincerity that lends itself to the full-hearted men he has played.

When “The Last Thing He Told Me” gets to the end of its twisty story, the thriller’s central conflict is not resolved via violence or trickery but rather a simple conversation between two people about the well-being of a child.
Based on the book of the same name by Laura Dave and adapted for Apple TV+ by Dave and her husband, Oscar-winning writer Josh Singer (“Spotlight”), “The Last Thing He Told Me” focuses on a woman named Hannah (Jennifer Garner), whose new husband, Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), disappears and leaves behind a note imploring Hannah to protect his daughter, Bailey (Angourie Rice). Over the course of the seven-episode limited series, Hannah and her stepdaughter travel from San Francisco to Austin, Texas, and find themselves embroiled in a larger conspiracy that includes Owen’s former father-in-law,...

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck‘s love is real!
According to a source, Mr. and Mrs. Affleck’s love is growing stronger.
“Ben and Jen are doing phenomenally. They are closer than ever before and both of them are elated. They’re feeling united and are in very positive spirits,” a source tells Et. “Ben loves how talented, intelligent and loyal Jen is. They lean on each other and are supportive of one another.”
Lopez, 53, and Affleck, 50, rekindled their relationship in 2021, almost two decades after they called off their initial engagement in 2004. In July, the pair went to a chapel in Las Vegas and had an intimate late-night ceremony. The following month, the duo said “I do” in Georgia during a lavish multi-day ceremony.
Since then, the couple has not been shy about putting their love on display — whether it be on the red carpet, while house hunting or supporting each other’s work.

“When I started writing the book I thought I was writing one kind of love story — a love story between Hannah and her husband who goes missing,” says Laura Dave, the best-selling author of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” which she has adapted into an Apple TV+ series with her husband, Oscar winner Josh Singer. “What I realized several years into the writing…was I was telling a different kind of love story. I was telling a love story of Hannah and her new stepdaughter. We wanted to honor that story in the series.” Watch our interview with Dave and Singer above.

Jennifer Garner decided to celebrate a major milestone in a big way. The actress opens up in her new cover story for Town & Country about the big blowout birthday party she threw for herself in the spring in honor of her 50th birthday.
“I basically had a wedding for myself,” she tells the magazine, laughing. “I was so shocked that I was doing it.”
While the lavish party might have been out of Garner’s wheelhouse, she did take the opportunity to get her guest’s help with a good cause.
The T&c interviewer writes that Garner asked her guests to fill 5,000 backpacks with enough food to feed a family of four for a program called Blessings In a Backpack.
“I put everyone to work,” she says.
The “Alias” star also talks about being labeled as “nice” in Hollywood, sharing that the adjective doesn’t bother her.

As movie stars flock to the TV universe, series creators are now faced with a dilemma: Do you look for a big name to anchor your show, or trust that new talent can break out as well? Some of this year’s most high-profile projects have featured actors more familiar to film: “Maniac,” starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill; “Sharp Objects,” toplining Amy Adams; “Kidding,” with Jim Carrey at the helm; and “Homecoming,” featuring Julia Roberts in her first role as a series regular.
There’s a simple answer to why having an Academy Award winner, America’s Sweetheart or a world-class comedian as the lead of your show works: It’s good for business.
“If you have someone like Julia Roberts attached to a project, people are going to pay attention in a very different way than if it’s a script that they are pitching with no one attached,...

In the new HBO series “Camping,” Jennifer Garner plays a mom, but Kathryn Siddell-Bauers isn’t maternal — she’s militarized. Kathryn is a hyper-organized Type A personality who is brutally focused on making sure everything goes according to plan, even if it means being consciously or unconsciously cruel to the people in her life — a role that plays with Garner’s well-known public persona as a caring mother.
So making that performance happen, according to director/co-creator Jenni Konner, wasn’t easy. “It’s really hard to take the sweetness out of Jen Garner,” she told IndieWire.
And according to Garner, “I was really terrified. A lot of the time… I loved having people so clear in their vision, but it also took a lot of trust.”

Ben Affleck may no longer be married to Jennifer Garner, but clearly the mother of his children still has huge influence over him. On Aug. 22, she was seen driving her car with him in the back seat, and Radar reports they were on their way to an L.A. County rehab center where he plans to get help. Jen arrived at his home in the Pacific Palisades around 4 p.m. the same day "with a woman believed to be her attorney" to make a dire plea for him to go to a treatment center. Apparently she didn't have to do much convincing, as he agreed he had a problem and would willingly accept the help. she left and returned 30 minutes later to make the drive. A doctor didn't have to tell Jennifer Garner that she was pregnant for the first time because the Hollywood actress already knew! In a recent interview, the mom to Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6 recalled the moment her doctor misread her first pregnancy test. Apparently Jennifer decided to go see a specialist because her at-home pregnancy test results were "so faint" that it was hard to tell if she was expecting or now. After getting a "proper test," the doctor told Jennifer that "you're not pregnant," but her maternal instincts were telling her otherwise. "I was like, ‘Yeah, I am. I'm telling you I am,'" the 46-year-old said before adding that she "just knew." Jennifer and her daughters. But it's her soon-to-be ex-husband, Ben Affleck, who gets all the credit as the "fun parent," the mom-of-three recently explained. She revealed that it's not every day that 12-year-old Violet, nine-year-old Seraphina, or six-year-old Samuel get to munch on Oreos — and usually it's Ben who's treating them.
