Liev Schreiber urged a crowd of D.C. lawmakers, ambassadors and media figures for continued support for Ukrainians as the one-year anniversary nears of Russia’s attempted invasion.
The occasion was UnSanctioned, an event at the French ambassador’s residence that brought together those who have been sanctioned by Vladimir Putin’s regime to support the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
The list, as Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova noted, is long. The sanctioned guests at the Friday evening event included Deputy National Security Adviser Jon Finer, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, State Department Spokesman Ned Price, Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-pa), Rep. Rick Larsen (D-wa), Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Co), Rep. Rick Larsen (D-wa), Rep. Susan Wild (D-pa), Susan Glasser, Bianna Golodryga and Craig Kennedy.
Schreiber, the co-founder of BlueCheck Ukraine, a non-profit that fast-tracks financial support to Ukraine NGOs, said, “Our idea is simply that no one is more capable or...

More than 100 Democrats in the House and Senate and independent Bernie Sanders have signed a letter urging the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to negotiate a fair contract with IATSE, saying, “We are united in our belief in the importance of livable wages, sustainable benefits, and reasonable rest periods between shifts and during the workday” – three of the union’s core demands.
The letter was signed by 31 senators and 87 representatives and sent to AMPTP president Carol Lombardini.
The union’s members begin voting on strike authorization Friday in advance of what could be the last round of bargaining before a strike that would shut down film and TV productions across the country.
The politicians also reminded Lombardini that industry workers “risked their health and safety” during the pandemic, and that “the entertainment you jointly produce is helping to heal our nation.”
Here is their letter:

President Donald Trump has responded to claims of repeated contact between his team and Russian intelligence officials during the 2016 presidential election election, calling the accusations “conspiracy theories” and “an attempt to cover-up the many mistakes made in Hillary Clinton’s losing campaign.”
He also slammed the apparent leaks from the intelligence community, tweeting that classified information was being given out ‘like candy.’
Current and former American officials told The New York Times in a report published Tuesday that law enforcement and intelligence agencies intercepted communications around the same time they were discovering evidence that Russia was trying to disrupt the...

Donald Trump‘s inauguration won’t be a star-studded affair on Friday — and it’s shaping up to be skippable by many politicians as well.
Though he won the Electoral College by 306 votes to Hillary Clinton’s 236, he’s starting off his presidency with the lowest approval rate in decades — just 40 percent, according to a CNN/Orc survey. (Before he took office in early 2009, Barack Obama’s approval rating was 84 percent, according to the same survey.)
That disapproval has seeped into the Capitol, with 51 members of Congress (at current count) abstaining from Trump’s inauguration and the following festivities.
Most notable is Rep.
