Referencing a recent appearance she made on “Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe”, Ell wrote: “I was on a podcast last week, and I shared something that I felt like I should share with all of you, because that’s what we do here.

Grammy Award-winning country music artiste Shania Twain released her new album, “Queen of Me” on Friday. The record is a limitless expression of pop that allows it to sit comfortably next to her many chart successors, enshrining it as an upbeat, playful, and joyous album.
The album is sonically inspired by ’70s and ’80s funk and rock – just like the sounds she grew up with and considered her heroes. It’s a departure from the past and a strident step into an ever-improving future.
The album consists of 12 new tracks. In the stand-out friendship anthem “Best Friend’, Shania affectionately gushes over her closest confidant as she emphasises “you always take the blame and you know I’d do the same for you. No matter what, yeah I got you, and I know that you got me.”
The LP represents a deep and dynamic creative statement from this iconic voice – from the energetic opener “Giddy Up!

The ACM Awards for New Male Artist of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year are quite hit-and-miss when it comes to anointing future hit-makers. While the awards have gone to country superstars like Maren Morris, Chris Stapleton, and Vince Gill, other winners have turned out not to be as influential in the long run, which makes predicting the winners a little harder than just choosing the highest-profile artist of the bunch.
Take last year, for example. Female nominees included eventual three-time Grammy nominee Ingrid Andress, crossover hit singer Gabby Barrett, and Caylee Hammack — all three of whom are nominated again this year — as well as Lindsay Ell. But the award ended up going to newcomer Tenille Townes, the only nominee besides Hammack with no Hot 100 charting songs.

The Academy of Country Music Awards were delayed from April till September due to the pandemic, even though voting had already closed, meaning that nominees had to wait an extra five months to find out how things turned out. But that’s not the case with the best new artist honors, which the Acm traditionally announces prior to the telecast. For 2020, the trophies are going to Tenille Townes for best new female artist and Riley Green for best new male artist.
Both winners come as upsets, given the heavy hitters in those respective categories. While acclaimed, neither Townes nor Green has yet had a top 10 country radio single, and they were both facing off against competitors with higher media profiles and No. 1 hits.

Two years ago, Lindsay Ell released The Continuum Project, a song-for-song remake of John Mayer’s 2006 album The Continuum. It was an ambitious release that initially sprouted out of a studio and songwriting exercise before widening in scope, but it pales in comparison to the lofty concept underpinning the Canadian singer-songwriter-guitarist’s new release, Heart Theory. The 12-track album, on which Ell co-wrote 11 of the songs, was produced by Dann Huff and goes headlong into self-care as it tracks the seven stages of grief — a psychological framework first developed by psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.
