The God of mischief might be off in a different timeline prepping for a second season but we still need something to put in our eyes. Assuming you’ve already binged the MCU shows WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we’ve rounded up some other great series that could scratch that Loki-shaped itch. Some of these are spiritually similar, some are great showcases of Loki’s cast and others explore similar themes. All are crackers though and well worth setting your tempad for.

This Brit black comedy which aired on Channel 4 in the UK ran for two seasons, each equally special. Is it similar to Loki? Not at face value, but it does feature a stand out turn from Sophia Di Martino who stole the show as female Loki, Sylvie. Of all the things to throw someone’s life into abject chaos and uncertainty, a piece of clothing is pretty far down on that list. So in director Peter Strickland’s latest film, it’s no surprise that it’s almost too late when one central character realizes that the growing source of misery in her life is an impulse purchase.
Marianne Jean-Baptiste stars as a recent divorcee, looking to make a statement for an upcoming date. When she buys a striking red dress, the mysterious department store attendant gives the audience some not-so-subtle clues that this may be a choice she comes to regret. “In Fabric” is more than just a “killer dress” movie, but the trailer below gives a pretty good indication of what to expect from Strickland’s most recent film, including the mix of throwback atmospheric horror and raw sensuality that marked the filmmaker’s last...

The cast includes Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Gwendoline Christie; Jean-Baptiste’s encounter with the eerie sales staffer (Fatma Mohamed) in the exclusive first look above shows off Strickland’s gift of finding the macabre in the mundane. BBC Three put Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding’s wilfully shambolic live act and radio series, The Mighty Boosh, on TV…
Part of The Mighty Boosh’s delight comes from its unlikelihood as a TV sitcom. Its boundless Day-Glo imagination isn’t an immediate fit with the constraints of the form. A sunshine simpleton and his awkward, jazz-obsessed colleague meet mythic monsters and talking animals while performing expertly observed musical parody? It’s not exactly My Family.
As comedian, writer, and director of Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding’s 1999 Edinburgh show Arctic Boosh, Stewart Lee, put it, “No television exec would ever have gone ‘What we need is a kind of purple head with tentacles coming out of it which speaks like a member of the Small Faces’”.
And yet a television exec did. Granted, probably not in those exact words. After Danny Wallace opened the door...

It’s a second go around the alphabet of fear with The ABCs of Death 2. 2012′s first installment – an anthology of 26 stories, each representing a letter of the alphabet – was the very definition of a mixed bag, with (sadly) the bad often outweighing the good. However, given that the good was Very good I still held out hope that this sequel would live up to the expectations and potential that the format has.
Thankfully this time round the good outweighs the bad, although surprisingly there are some disappointing segments from directors whose work I’ve enjoyed; and whose feature work has been hailed as some of the best in the genre – not that there’s any evidence of that here – including...
