“For us, we’ve been together for almost six years. We own a home together, have a joint bank account. We’re each other’s emergency contacts,” Zeke shared with People ahead of the big day. “By all sorts of usual metrics we are married.”
“But actually having the ceremony, making it legal, it’s about becoming a family,” Zeke continued. “We’re in it forever. Through thick and thin and easy and hard. We’re going to be the person that’s there for the other one.”
When the couple first started planning their wedding, Nico said that they didn’t realize that their celebration would fall during Pride Weekend in Palm Springs.

Lauren Ash, who played Dina in NBC‘s breakout hit Superstore believes that the show won’t be gone for long. In fact, she is pretty confident the series will be picked up again and even include the original cast.
“I think that that, for that show, I mean it’ll be of course logistically scheduling-wise an absolute nightmare cluster,” she joked on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “I can’t speak for anybody, but I really do think that there is a lot of good, all of us have a lot of goodwill towards that show and each other. And I feel like I could definitely see it happening. I’m putting it out there.”

As for his career, the actor said, “Everything is going great. You know, it’s so cliché and a little cheesy to say, buy I think I’m just approaching everything from a place of gratitude because I just can’t believe it sometimes.

There’s no denying that Survivor is a show with serious staying power. This cult classic premiered in May 2000 and is now in its 44th season.
Survivor follows 18 castaways who are dropped on the beautiful islands of Fiji with very few luxury items (and zero toiletries), who form a new society, compete in mental and physical challenges, and try to survive the harsh conditions in order to be crowned Sole Survivor and win the $1 million prize. The castaways often come from diverse backgrounds and are very competitive, which makes for some interesting reality TV.
Needless to say, the show’s host, Emmy Award-winner Jeff Probst, has to do some preparation of his own in order to lead the castaways to victory. Recently, on his podcast, he revealed the rather unique way he prepares to host each season.

With over 43 seasons of Survivor, it’s difficult to choose which ones stand out the most. There have been numerous entertaining seasons full of impressive gameplay, dynamic casts, and shocking Tribal Councils that have left us with our jaws on the floor. But we’ve narrowed the list of all-time great seasons to five must-sees for any Survivor fan.
Jeff Probst | Photo: Robert Voets/CBS 5. ‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’
Including Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X on our list of the top five Survivor seasons might be a controversial pick, but we wholeheartedly stand by it.
Adam Klein is one of the most underrated winners (aside from Vecepia Towery). After all, he is one of five castaways to win the show unanimously, and he played a smart (yet chaotic at times) strategic and social game. Plus, Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X introduced us to multiple memorable players, including Zeke Smith,...

In 1981, Vito Russo, one of GLAAD’s founders, published “The Celluloid Closet,” the essential reference guide to the history of gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters in film. In the 1995 Emmy-winning documentary based on his work, narrator Lily Tomlin said: “Hollywood, the great maker of myths, taught straight people what to think about gays and gay people what to think about themselves.”
That same observation is certainly true for transgender people, their friends and family members. Twenty-five years after “The Celluloid Closet” documentary, “Disclosure” director Sam Feder and executive producer Laverne Cox deconstruct 100 years of transgender stereotypes in film and TV. “Disclosure” takes a critical look at media portrayals of trans people from the silent film era to now, and puts 30 transgender people on screen to share how those portrayals impacted them and those who love them.

Let’s take a first look at the 2021 Oscar race for Best Documentary Feature. While the coronavirus pandemic has muted the buzz that usually builds at fall film festivals, several strong contenders have achieved prominence this year, starting at the Sundance Film Festival, which were held in January before the international shutdowns.
Netflix has four of these Sundance titles, led by “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution,” about a New York summer camp for disabled teens that opened in 1971 whose attendees became activists for disability rights. The doc, directed by Nicole Newnham and James Lebrecht and executive-produced by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, was the winner of the fest’s U.S. Documentary Audience Award.
“Miss Americana,” directed by Lana Wilson, is a revealing look at singer-songwriter Taylor Swift‘s career that utilizes studio footage and concert recordings.

Exclusive: Filmmaker Sam Feder has signed with Gersh and Luber Roklin Entertainment for representation in all areas. Feder is known for his recent groundbreaking Netflix documentary Disclosure. With his new reps, Feder will build upon his documentary work and expand into narrative film and television.
Disclosure garnered critical acclaim when it debuted at Sundance earlier this year and reached a wide audience when it debuted on Netflix on June 19. The documentary has become required viewing when it comes to the authentic representation of the transgender community in film and TV. Chronicling an eye-opening look at trans depictions in Hollywood, the docu reveals how the film and TV industry simultaneously reflects and manufactures our deepest anxieties about gender.
The docu was executive produced by Laverne Cox, who is also featured in the film. Disclosure also features prominent members of the trans community including Jen Richards, Marquise Vilson, Tre’vell Anderson, Angelica Ross,...

During an interview with hairstylist Christin Brown on Instagram Live, Halle Berry talked about a lot of things including her hair journey throughout her career and her upcoming directorial debut with Bruised. Then she spoke about a role that was pitched to her: a transgender man. She then said, “I want to experience that world, I want to understand that world.”
This wasn’t exactly a good idea.
Berry is an LGBTQ advocate, but her decision to consider taking the role of a transgender man during an era when authenticity and representation on screen are paramount was subject to concern and some backlash on Twitter.
Sam Feder, director of the recently released Netflix documentary Disclosure, which chronicles the portrayal of trans people in media, tweeted at the actress: “Often people don’t know what they don’t know. And that’s ok! @halleberry please consider watching @Disclosure_Doc before performing transness.

Several major North American LGBTQ film festivals are forming an alliance so that they can continue to highlight the works of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer filmmakers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Exclusive: Netflix has acquired the worldwide rights to the Sam Feder-directed documentary Disclosure. The feature-length docu is set to debut on the streaming platform on June 19 — a perfect release date considering June is Pride Month.
Disclosure made its premiere at Sundance earlier this year and puts a spotlight on transgender representation in TV and film while showing how it has impacted how Americans feel about members of the trans community and how it has taught trans people to feel about themselves.
Feder not only puts members of the trans community front and center but he also made sure that they were represented behind the camera as well. This way, it was a film about trans people made by trans people, marking a genuine effort of authenticity.
“Disclosure came to life so beautifully because trans people were at the center of production — over 150 trans people were involved, from early research through distribution,...

When production of the fifth season of “Superstore” was shut down in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, there was still one more episode to shoot: the finale.
The episode would also mark America Ferrera’s last. The “Superstore” star announced in February that she was leaving the series. Ferrara will still pop up in the first episode of Season 6, co-star Nico Santos tells Variety. “We have to have a proper sendoff for the fans and for the fans to have closure with America’s character Amy leaving,” he said.
Five days after the cast and crew were sent home, Santos revealed in an Instagram post that his stepfather died of Covid-19. “His laugh is the thing I remember the most,” Santos said during an appearance Thursday night on Variety’s “After-Show” on Instagram. “He had just this loud, joyous laugh that was just infectious. … He was just like a...

“Survivor” can be one of the most entertaining shows on television, an adventure on a deserted island where strangers out-maneuver each other and compete in fun challenges. It can also be immensely uncomfortable when the illusion of the game fades away and real-life implications come into play. Above you can scroll through our photos of the 12 most disturbing moments in “Survivor” history, ranked from uncomfortable to ugly.
The safety of the “Survivor” castaways is always of grave importance, which is what makes the show’s medical evacuations so unfortunate to watch. Some, like Michael Skupin in “The Australian Outback,” have an accident, falling in the fire and requiring medical attention. Others push themselves to the brink, like Russell Swan in “Samoa” and Caleb Reynolds in “Kaoh Rong.” These are the worst kinds of “Survivor” exits, and while there can be compelling drama in seeing a castaway push themselves, it’s...

During an interview at the Variety Studio at the Sundance Film Festival, a panel of transgender activists — who appear in director Sam Feder’s documentary “Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen,” which premiered at the festival — scoffed at the idea of voting for Pete Buttigieg.
When asked whom they’ll vote for as the primaries approach, Jen Richards — a writer, actor and advocate, who appeared on the Caitlyn Jenner reality series, “I Am Cait” — said she’s voting for Elizabeth Warren. “This is the person so wonky, and who really wants to do things right,” Richards said. “Whether it’s realistic or not, I don’t know. But I support her.”
Zeke Smith, who in 2017 was outed as trans as a contestant on “Survivor,” and was another “Disclosure” panelist, agreed with Richards. “As a high school debater from Oklahoma City who also ended up at Harvard, I feel like I have...

In 39 seasons, Survivor has had its fair share of drama in the name of the game. Some of it has been simply some wild gameplay, like creating a fake idol, or claiming your very much alive grandmother is dead in order to win some sympathy points, and some of it has been deeply troubling, like when Jeff Varner outed Zeke Smith as being transgender as a last ditch effort to stay. This week, as the tribes merged, things took a turn they've never quite taken before. At the beginning of this season, Kellee Kim had complaints over the way Dan Spilo couldn't stay out of her personal space. She talked to him about it, but those interactions continued until they ended up on different tribes in...
